To maintain a good fitness level, performing a minimum daily physical activity is important. Many people think that they have already met the suggested guidelines. However, most of them were wrong when they quantify their activity level using a personal activity tracker device. This problem indicates the need for personal physical activity tracker or wearable device to maintain the fitness level. However, as wide-range wearable devices available today, it is difficult to find the most suitable one regarding the price and quality. This paper proposes a study to explore the association between the quality and the price of the devices. The quality is evaluated by comparing the accuracy of the heart rate sensor and step counter of several wearable devices with the ground truth measurements. The test result is then analyzed using a series of statistical methods including, a paired t-test, Pearson’s correlation test, and Bland-Altman plot. Both t-test and correlation coefficient is used to plot the association between quality and price.

Introduction: Although the inferred “fitness” of clonal hematopoesis (CH) driver mutations differs depending on the gene mutation, the impact of environmental factors that may promote or impair CH expansion remain largely unknown. We hypothesized that obesity influences the clonal expansion rate of common CH driver mutations. Methods: To test this hypothesis, we first interrogated data from the UKBiobank (UKBB) (n=425,573 exomes) to evaluate the relationship between body mass index (BMI) (kg/m2) and four common CH mutations, namely DNMT3A, TET2, ASXL1 , and JAK2. For functional studies we focused on JAK2 V617F , using a novel Fgd5 -CreER- Jak2 V617F mouse model we generated. In this model, Jak2 V617F expression is induced in a small percentage of long-term (LT)-HSC which are tracked sequentially in primary mice in an unirradiated bone marrow niche. To quantify Jak2 V617F expression in the model, we developed a digital droplet PCR assay. We also generated a chimeric bone marrow transplant Jak2 V617F model and performed bulk RNA-sequencing (RNAseq) on purified lineage low Sca-1 + c-kit high (LSK) cells expressing Jak2 V617F or wild-type Jak2 , isolated from the same mouse. Finally, we performed single-cell RNAseq on Jak2 V617F -expressing c-kit high cells purified from chimeric transplant mice. Mice fed an obesity diet received 60 kcal% fat while mice fed a control diet received 10 kcal% fat. Results: In UKBB analyses, we identified genotype-specific patterns of association between BMI and the presence of CH mutations. JAK2 (OR 0.51; 95% CI 0.27-0.96; p=0.036) and DNMT3A mutations (OR 0.92; 95% CI 0.87-0.97; p=0.0028) were negatively associated with a BMI >30 relative to BMI <25, whereas mutations in ASXL1 (OR 1.40; 95% CI 1.23-1.60; p=8.8x10 -7 ) and TET2 (OR 1.16; 95% CI 1.04-1.31; p=0.0095) were positively associated with BMI >30. BACKGROUND AND AIMS:Social risks are individual-level factors associated with adverse health outcomes. We determined the prevalence and impact of social risks on healthcare use among patients with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) in the United States (US). METHODS:In the US National Health Interview Survey 2023, we estimated social risks across six domains (food insecurity, financial hardship, housing instability, transportation needs, education and employment, discrimination) in adults with IBD. We evaluated the association between burden of social risk (0/6 domains [none], 1/6 domains [mild], 2/6 domains [moderate] and ≥3/6 domains [severe]) and unplanned healthcare utilization (emergency department and/or hospitalization) and medication non-adherence, accounting for differences in age, sex, race/ethnicity, insurance, income and comorbidities. RESULTS:Of 572 people included in the survey (mean age, 56y; 57% female; 81% non-Hispanic Whites [NHWs], 12.9% Hispanic), 64% (95% CI, 59-69%) experienced social risk across one or more domains (food insecurity, 22%; financial hardship, 28%; housing instability, 14%; transportation needs, 9%; education and employment, 9%; discrimination, 41%). Prevalence of severe social risk was higher in racial and ethnic minority groups (non-Hispanic Blacks vs. Hispanics vs. NHWs: 37% vs. 28% vs. 12%). Higher burden of social risk was associated with higher risk of unplanned healthcare utilization (severe vs. none: OR, 3.5 [1.2-10.2) and cost-related medication non-adherence (OR, 11.8 [2.7-52.1]), after accounting for income and insurance status. CONCLUSIONS:Social risks are prevalent in adults with IBD and negatively impact healthcare utilization and medication non-adherence. Efforts to routinely identify and address social risks in patients with IBD should be part of standard clinical care.

General feature selection technique supporting sex-debiasing in chronic illness algorithms validated using wearable device data

In tasks involving human health condition data, feature selection is heavily affected by data types, the complexity of the condition manifestation, and the variability in physiological presentation. One type of variability often overlooked or oversimplified is the effect of biological sex. As females have been chronically underrepresented in clinical research, we know less about how conditions manifest in females. Innovations in wearable technology have enabled individuals to generate high temporal resolution data for extended periods of time. With millions of days of data now available, additional feature selection pipelines should be developed to systematically identify sex-dependent variability in data, along with the effects of how many per-person data are included in analysis. Here we present a set of statistical approaches as a technique for identifying sex-dependent physiological and behavioral manifestations of complex diseases starting from longitudinal data, which are evaluated on diabetes, hypertension, and their comorbidity.

The current progress of information and communication technology has been critical to the development of the Internet of Things (IoT) in a aquaculture system. IoT solution in this system utilizes interconnectivity between devices to obtain fish pond monitoring data from sensing devices and then transmit the data to a remote server to be analyzed for decision-making in pond management. In this paper, we propose a smart pond IoT solution that provides a continuous and real-time pond monitoring. The system principally embeds five sensors that measure critical environmental parameters to determine water quality: temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen (DO), total dissolved solids (TDS), and salinity. The IoT solution also integrates the development of a mobile application on the android platform that allows remote monitoring capabilities for users to maintain efficient pond management. The application is designed with a friendly-user interface that helps the farmer to monitor sensor measurements, manage fish production cycle, record fish feeding schedule, and also monitor the health status of fish from multiple ponds.

Improvement of Jakarta's air quality during large scale social restriction

After Large-Scale Social Restriction (PSBB) established in Jakarta, a change of air quality was indicated by the citizens. Representatives of Indonesia's Agency for Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG) supported as the fact that mobility of Jakarta's citizen and commuters were reduced. With utilizing Weather data Acquisition System managed by BMKG, this research compared fluctuations of Jakarta's air quality during two periods of time: Pre-PSBB and During-PSBB. This study proved that Jakarta's air quality has positively improved compared to the previous year, although in the lower range of unhealthy level.

Cultivated potato is a clonally propagated autotetraploid species with a highly heterogeneous *** assemblies of six cultivars including two chromosome-scale phased genome assemblies revealed extensive allelic diversity,including altered coding and transcript sequences,preferential allele expression,and structural variation that collectively result in a highly complex transcriptome and predicted proteome,which are distributed across the homologous *** species contribute to the extensive allelic diversity in tetraploid cultivars,demonstrating ancestral introgressions predating modern breeding *** a clonally propagated autotetraploid that undergoes limited meiosis,dysfunctional and deleterious alleles are not purged in tetraploid *** a quarter of the loci bore mutations are predicted to have a high negative impact on protein function,complicating breeder’s efforts to reduce genetic *** StCDF1 locus controls maturity,and analysis of six tetraploid genomes revealed that 12 allelic variants of StCDF1 are correlated with maturity in a dosage-dependent *** of the complexity of the tetraploid potato genome with its rampant structural variation and embedded deleterious and dysfunctional alleles will be key not only to implementing precision breeding of tetraploid cultivars but also to the construction of homozygous,diploid potato germplasm containing favorable alleles to capitalize on heterosis in F1 hybrids.
