A comprehensive account of fungal classification from freshwater habitats is outlined and discussed in the present review based on literature of biodiversity studies and recent morpho-phylogenetic analyses.A total of 3,870 freshwater fungal species are listed with additional details on the isolation source,habitat,geographical distribution,and molecular *** Ascomycota(2,968 species,1,018 genera)dominated the freshwater fungal taxa wherein Sordariomycetes(823 species,298 genera)had the largest number,followed by Dothideomycetes(677 species,229 genera),Eurotiomycetes(276 species,49 genera),and Leotiomycetes(260 species,83 genera).Other phyla included in the updated classification of freshwater fungi are:Chytridiomycota(333 species,97 genera),Rozellomycota(221 species,105 genera),Basidiomycota(218 species,100 genera),Blastocladiomycota(47 species,10 genera),Monoblepharomycota(29 species,6 genera),Mucoromycota(19 spe-cies,10 genera),Aphelidiomycota(15 species,3 genera),Entomophthoromycota(6 species,4 genera),Mortierellomycota(5 species,3 genera),Olpidiomycota(4 species,1 genus),Zoopagomycota(3 species,2 genera),and Sanchytriomycota(2 species,2 genera).The freshwater fungi belong to 1,361 genera,386 families and 145 *** Pleosporales and Laboulbeniaceae are the largest freshwater fungal order and family comprised of 391 and 185 species,*** most speciose genera are Chitonomyces(87,Laboulbeniomycetes),Verrucaria(50,Eurotiomycetes),Rhizophydium(52,Rhizophydiomycetes),Penicillium(47,Eurotiomycetes),and Candida(42,Saccharomycetes).

Effective approaches to disaster evacuation during a COVID-like pandemic

Since COVID-19 vaccines became available, no studies have quantified how different disaster evacuation strategies can mitigate pandemic risks in shelters. Therefore, we applied an age-structured epidemiological model, known as the Susceptible-Exposed-Infectious-Recovered (SEIR) model, to investigate to what extent different vaccine uptake levels and the Diversion protocol implemented in Taiwan decrease infections and delay pandemic peak occurrences. Taiwan’s Diversion protocol involves diverting those in self-quarantine due to exposure, thus preventing them from mingling with the general public at a congregate shelter. The Diversion protocol, combined with sufficient vaccine uptake, can decrease the maximum number of infections and delay outbreaks relative to scenarios without such strategies. When the diversion of all exposed people is not possible, or vaccine uptake is insufficient, the Diversion protocol is still valuable. Furthermore, a group of evacuees that consists primarily of a young adult population tends to experience pandemic peak occurrences sooner and have up to 180% more infections than does a majority elderly group when the Diversion protocol is implemented. However, when the Diversion protocol is not enforced, the majority elderly group suffers from up to 20% more severe cases than the majority young adult group. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. Over the past 2 to 3 decades,Chinese forests are estimated to act as a large carbon sink,yet the magnitude and spatial patterns of this sink differ considerably among *** 3 microwave(L-and X-band vegetation optical depth[VOD])and 3 optical(normalized difference vegetation index,leaf area index,and tree cover)remote-sensing vegetation products,this study compared the estimated live woody aboveground biomass carbon(AGC)dynamics over China between 2013 and *** results showed that tree cover has the highest spatial consistency with 3 published AGC maps(mean correlation value R=0.84),followed by L-VOD(R=0.83),which outperform the other *** AGC estimation model was proposed to combine all indices to estimate the annual AGC dynamics in China during 2013 to *** performance of the AGC estimation model was good(root mean square error=0.05 Pg C and R^(2)=0.90 with a mean relative uncertainty of 9.8% at pixel scale[0.25°]).Results of the AGC estimation model showed that carbon uptake by the forests in China was about+0.17 Pg C year^(-1) from 2013 to *** the regional level,provinces in southwest China including Guizhou(+22.35 Tg C year^(-1)),Sichuan(+14.49 Tg C year^(-1)),and Hunan(+11.42 Tg C year^(-1))provinces had the highest carbon sink rates during 2013 to *** of the carbon-sink regions have been afforested recently,implying that afforestation and ecological engineering projects have been effective means for carbon sequestration in these regions.

The mangrove ecosystem is one of the unique and distinctive ecosystems because it is a compelling natural resource. However, in the current era, many people are greedy, resulting in the conversion of mangrove land, which causes a decrease in the area of the mangrove ecosystem. This study aims to determine changes in the extent of the mangrove ecosystem in Karimunjawa National Park and the appropriate rehabilitation efforts there. The method used in this research is a case study with descriptive analysis. Data collection techniques used literature studies from several related research sources whose research locations were in the Karimunjawa National Park. The collected data were then analyzed using the SWOT method. The main priority to be chosen as the primary strategic plan to repair damage and rehabilitate mangroves in Karimunjawa National Park is to establish synergistic cooperation between the implementation of government programs and the wishes of the local community through revitalizing coastal areas due to abrasion by replanting mangrove trees. This alternative strategy is a Strength-Threats (ST) strategy, where strength is maximized to overcome threats.

The proliferation of heavy metal contamination, namely, lead and copper, has emerged as a pervasive worldwide peril to human existence. One potential solution for addressing this issue is the utilization of nanoparticle adsorption, specifically for nickel oxide nanoparticles. However, to promote environmental sustainability, scholarly studies have identified green synthesis as a prospective methodology. The process of cadmium phytoremediation, although offering a potential remedy for heavy metal contamination, gives rise to apprehensions surrounding the proper disposal of cadmium hyperaccumulator plant biomass. Hence, it is imperative to establish suitable strategies for the disposition or usage of this biomass. The utilization of hyperaccumulator extracts for the eco-friendly production of nickel oxide nanoparticles remains unexplored in the current literature. The main aim of this research is to explore the possible application of Lactuca sativa L. as a plant species with the ability to accumulate high levels of cadmium. The study also seeks to examine the efficacy of utilizing these plants in the fabrication of nickel oxide nanoparticles and evaluate their capacity to absorb lead and copper ions. The characterization of nickel oxide nanoparticles is conducted through a range of techniques, encompassing scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, X-ray fluorescence, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller spectroscopy, and vibrating sample magnetometry. The present work achieved successful utilization of Lactuca sativa L. extract for the manufacture of nickel oxide nanoparticles, which showed notable efficacy as an adsorbent for lead and copper. The synthesis of nickel oxide nanoparticles using an extract from Lactuca sativa L. has demonstrated the viability of utilizing hyperaccumulator biomass in the phytoremediation of cadmium. An integrated waste management system requires baseline data, including waste generation analysis, composition density, and waste characteristics. Baseline data is needed to determine the proper waste management strategy. This research was conducted by measuring directly from the source of waste carried out by stratified sampling following SNI 19-3964-1994. The location of the study was carried out in Tanjung and Gangga districts because this location is considered to represent North Lombok Regency. The research was conducted using 100 samples of household waste. The study results on the composition of waste in the North Lombok Regency consisted of organic waste, plastic waste, paper, cloth, wood, glass, metal, and rubber waste. The dominant composition is organic waste. The characteristics of waste in the North Lombok Regency have a higher water content than the water content of waste in general. All the characteristics tested indicate that the waste in North Lombok Regency requires several treatments before processing waste, such as reducing the water content and increasing the C/N ratio. Based on the characteristics and composition of the waste, composting or incineration is the suitable waste management method in North Lombok Regency.

The aim of this research is to determine the removal efficiency of Cd (II) based on the pH variation and the optimum pH on the batch method, the adsorbent height variation and flow rate in continuous flow column which using tofu solid waste industry which was immobilized silica as adsorbent, also to characterize and to identify functional groups of the absorbent using the FTIR analysis. The pH variation used was 2,3,4,5, and 6. Adsorbent height variation used was 2 cm and 4 cm. Then, variation of flow rate used was 5 ml/min and 10 ml/min. Determination of pH optimum was done using One-Way Anova analysis and continued with Duncan test and descriptive analysis based on the table and graphic. The analysis data of the removal efficiency of Cd (II) in continuous flow column was explained by the descriptive analysis. The pHPCZ was 8.4. The pH optimum was 6 with the removal efficiency 48.14%. The removal efficiency of Cd (II) in continuous flow column for the adsorbent height variation 2 cm and 4 cm which were 38,22% and 43,42% respectively. The removal efficiency of Cd (II) in continuous flow column for the flow rate 5ml/min and 10ml/min each by 38.22% and 39.01%. The result of FTIR analysis of the adsorbent conducted before the adsorption shown that there were functional groups of C=O (vibrate at 1651.07 cm-1), Si-O-Si (462.92 cm-1 and 1095.6 cm-1), O-H (3425.58 cm-1), and N-H (3749.62 cm-1). While, the result of the FTIR analysis after the adsorption shown that there were Si-O-Cd (956.72 cm-1) and Cd-N (412.78 cm-1). © 2019 IOP Publishing Ltd.

Heterogeneous photocatalytic reaction has been generally applied for degradation of toxic *** of a compound using the same kind of catalyst that was synthesized differently are commonly found in ***,the reported degradation intermediates are normally *** issue is especially important for the degradation of toxic compounds because intermediates may be more toxic than their parent compounds and understanding the reason is necessary if appropriate catalysts are to be *** work systematically compares the photocatalytic degradation of diuron,a toxic recalcitrant herbicide,on two forms of zinc oxide(ZnO),i.e.,conventional particles with zinc-and oxygen-terminated polar surfaces as the dominating planes,and nanorods with mixed-terminated nonpolar *** and theoretical results indicate that both the rate of reaction and the degradation pathway depend on the adsorption configuration of diuron onto the *** molecules adsorb in different alignments on the two surfaces,contributing to the formation of different degradation *** the aliphatic and aromatic sides of diuron adsorb on the polar surfaces simultaneously,leading to an attack by hydroxyl radicals from both *** the other hand,on the mixed-terminated surface,only the aliphatic part adsorbs and is *** exposed surface is therefore the key factor controlling the degradation *** diuron degradation on ZnO,a catalyst confined tomixed-terminated surfaces,i.e.,ZnO nanorods,is more desirable,as it avoids the formation of intermediates with potent phytotoxicity and cytogenotoxicity.

The dehydration of ethanol into diethyl ether over a SO4/SiO2 catalyst was investigated. The SO4/SiO2 catalysts were prepared by the sulfation method using 1, 2, and 3 M of sulfuric acid (SS1, SS2, and SS3) via hydrothermal treatment. This study is focused on the synthesis of a SO4/SiO2 catalyst with high total acidity that can be subsequently utilized to convert ethanol into diethyl ether. The total acidity test revealed that the sulfation process increased the total acidity of SiO2. The SS2 catalyst (with 2 M sulfuric acid) displayed the highest total acidity of 7.77 mmol/g, whereas the SiO2 total acidity was only 0.11 mmol/g. Meanwhile, the SS3 catalyst (with 3 M sulfuric acid) has a lower total acidity of 7.09 mmol/g due to the distribution of sulfate groups on the surface having reached its optimum condition. The crystallinity and structure of the SS2 catalyst were not affected by the hydrothermal treatment or the sulfate process on silica. Furthermore, The SS2 catalyst characteristics in the presence of sulfate lead to a flaky surface in the morphology and non-uniform particle size. In addition, the surface area and pore volume of the SS2 catalyst decreased (482.56–172.26 m2/g) and (0.297–0.253 cc/g), respectively, because of the presence of sulfate on the silica surface. The SS2 catalyst's pore shape information explains the formation of non-uniform pore sizes and shapes. Finally, the activity and selectivity of SO4/SiO2 catalysts in the conversion of ethanol to diethyl ether yielded the highest ethanol conversion of 70.01% and diethyl ether product of 9.05% from the SS2 catalyst (the catalyst with the highest total acidity). Variations in temperature reaction conditions (175–225 °C) show an optimum reaction temperature to produce diethyl ether at 200 °C (11.36%). © 2023 Elsevier Ltd
