A multitude of individuals across the globe grapple with motor disabilities. Neural prosthetics utilizing Brain-computer Interface (BCI) technology exhibit promise for improving motor rehabilitation outcomes. The intricate nature of EEG data poses a significant hurdle for current BCI systems. Recently, a qualitative repository of EEG signals tied to both upper and lower limb execution of motor and motor imagery tasks has been unveiled. Despite this, the productivity of the Machine Learning (ML) Models that were trained on this dataset was alarmingly deficient, and the evaluation framework seemed insufficient. To enhance outcomes, robust feature engineering (signal processing) methodologies are implemented. A collection of time domain, frequency domain, and wavelet-derived features was obtained from 16-channel EEG signals, and the Maximum Relevance Minimum Redundancy (MRMR) approach was employed to identify the four most significant features. For classification K Nearest Neighbors, Support Vector Machine, Decision Tree, and Naïve Bayes models were implemented with these selected features, evaluating their effectiveness through metrics such as testing accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 Score. By leveraging SVM with a Gaussian Kernel, a remarkable maximum testing accuracy of 92.50% for motor activities and 95.48% for imagery activities is achieved. These results are notably more dependable and gratifying compared to the previous study, where the peak accuracy was recorded at 74.36%. This research work provides an in-depth analysis of the MI Limb EEG dataset and it will help in designing and developing simple, cost-effective and reliable BCI systems for neuro-rehabilitation. © 2024, CC BY-NC-ND.

Protein-protein interactions are of great significance for human to understand the functional mechanisms of *** the rapid development of high-throughput genomic technologies,massive protein-protein interaction(PPI)data have been generated,making it very difficult to analyze them *** address this problem,this paper presents a distributed framework by reimplementing one of state-of-the-art algorithms,i.e.,CoFex,using *** do so,an in-depth analysis of its limitations is conducted from the perspectives of efficiency and memory consumption when applying it for large-scale PPI data analysis and *** solutions are then devised to overcome these *** particular,we adopt a novel tree-based data structure to reduce the heavy memory consumption caused by the huge sequence information of *** that,its procedure is modified by following the MapReduce framework to take the prediction task distributively.A series of extensive experiments have been conducted to evaluate the performance of our framework in terms of both efficiency and *** results well demonstrate that the proposed framework can considerably improve its computational efficiency by more than two orders of magnitude while retaining the same high accuracy.

This paper proposes a novel approach for the design of stabilizing sliding manifolds for linear systems affected by model uncertainties and external disturbances. In classical sliding mode control approaches, rejecting model uncertainties and external disturbances often relies on designing a dis-continuous control law with a suitable gain. Specifically, the greater the uncertainty, the larger the control gain. However, this approach might be detrimental to the plant. Instead, the proposed technique deals with this problem by focusing on the design of a suitable sliding manifold, where stability is guaranteed despite model uncertainties. This approach exhibits several benefits such as not needing any further identification process and designing a smaller control gain.

This article presents the problem of designing a nonlinear observer for an active magnetic suspension system. The design process of the nonlinear Luenberger observer (also known as the Kazantzis-Kravaris-Luenberger observer) is discussed. Particular attention was paid to the main nonlinearity of the system - the electromagnetic force, which was modeled applying the function describing the change in inductance as a function of the distance of the levitating object from the electromagnet surface. Theoretical analyses were confirmed by the results of experimental studies in which the task of moving the sphere between the given positions using current control was carried out. Control tasks were conducted in the real-time regime on an embedded platform. The measured signals and estimated velocity were analyzed in the context of future implementations in control applications.

Seizure detection and prediction are a very hot topics in medical signal processing due to their importance in automatic medical diagnosis. This paper presents three efficient frameworks for applications related to electroencephalogram (EEG) signal processing. The first one is an automatic seizure detection framework based on the utilization of scale-invariant feature transform (SIFT) as an extraction tool. The second one depends on the utilization of the fast Fourier transform (FFT) and an artificial neural network for epileptic seizure prediction. Finally, an automated patient-specific framework for channel selection and seizure prediction is presented based on FFT. The simulation results show the success of the proposed frameworks for automated medical diagnosis. © 2021, Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

The Advanced Encryption Standard cryptographic algorithm,named AES,is implemented in cryptographic circuits to ensure high security level to any system which required confidentiality and secure information *** of the most effective physical attacks against the hardware implementation of AES is fault attacks which can extract secret *** now,a several AES fault detection schemes against fault injection attacks have been *** this paper,so as to ensure a high level of security against fault injection attacks,a new efficient fault detection scheme based on the AES architecture modification has been *** this reason,the AES 32-bit round is divided into two half rounds and input and pipeline registers are implemented between *** proposed scheme is independent of the procedure the AES is ***,it can be implemented to secure the pipeline and iterative *** evaluate the robustness of the proposed fault detection scheme against fault injection attacks,we conduct a transient and permanent fault attacks and then we determine the fault detection capability;it is about 99.88585%and 99.9069%for transient and permanent faults *** have modeled the AES fault detection scheme using VHDL hardware language and through hardware FPGA *** FPGA results demonstrate that our scheme can efficiently protect the AES hardware implementation against fault *** can be simply implemented with low *** addition,the FPGA implementation performances prove the low area overhead and the high efficiency and working frequency for the proposed AES detection scheme.

The major challenge of inadequate healthcare services in developing countries has been linked to the unavailability of qualified medical personnel and inefficient diagnostic techniques adopted. The advent of technology in medicine has aided the improvement of medical processes including diagnosis. Many computerized systems have been implemented over the years for medical diagnosis some of which included machine learning techniques. But the existing methods lack the power of selecting the most relevant signs and symptoms of malaria and typhoid fever. Therefore, this study develops a system capable of Malaria and Typhoid Fever diagnosis using a Genetic Algorithm, a Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System called GENFIS. In order to train the NFIS, the GA module determines the optimal set of network parameters, saves them, and then distributes them to the appropriate hidden layer nodes. The study made use of the MATLAB environment to test and evaluate the system. The accuracy performance of the proposed model revealed an accuracy of 97.2%, thus performing better than some of the existing systems. If completely adopted, the proposed approach has the potential to lessen the major issues with NFIS systems.
