The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all domains of human life, including the economic and social fabric of societies. One of the central strategies for managing public health throughout the pandemic has been through persuasive messaging and collective behaviour change. To help scholars better understand the social and moral psychology behind public health behaviour, we present a dataset comprising of 51,404 individuals from 69 countries. This dataset was collected for the International Collaboration on Social & Moral Psychology of COVID-19 project (ICSMP COVID-19). This social science survey invited participants around the world to complete a series of moral and psychological measures and public health attitudes about COVID-19 during an early phase of the COVID-19 pandemic (between April and June 2020). The survey included seven broad categories of questions: COVID-19 beliefs and compliance behaviours; identity and social attitudes; ideology; health and well-being; moral beliefs and motivation; personality traits; and demographic variables. We report both raw and cleaned data, along with all survey materials, data visualisations, and psychometric evaluations of key variables.

The N2pc event-related potential appears on the opposite side of the scalp with respect to the visual hemisphere where an object of interest is located. In this paper, we propose a 2-user collaborative brain-computer interface that exploits this component for the automatic localisation of specific lateral targets in real aerial images displayed by means of the rapid serial visual presentation technique at speeds of 5-15 Hz. By combining the evidence from pairs of users using two different methods and with participant selection, we obtain absolute median improvements in the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of up to 7.7% with respect to single-user BCIs. © 2014 IEEE.

Multimodal data are ubiquitous in engineering, communications, robotics, computer vision, or more generally speaking in industry and the sciences. All disciplines have developed their respective sets of analytic tools to fuse the information that is available in all measured modalities. In this paper, we provide a review of classical as well as recent machine learning methods (specifically factor models) for fusing information from functional neuroimaging techniques such as: LFP, EEG, MEG, fNIRS, and fMRI. Early and late fusion scenarios are distinguished, and appropriate factor models for the respective scenarios are presented along with example applications from selected multimodal neuroimaging studies. Further emphasis is given to the interpretability of the resulting model parameters, in particular by highlighting how factor models relate to physical models needed for source localization. The methods we discuss allow for the extraction of information from neural data, which ultimately contributes to 1) better neuroscientific understanding;2) enhance diagnostic performance;and 3) discover neural signals of interest that correlate maximally with a given cognitive paradigm. While we clearly study the multimodal functional neuroimaging challenge, the discussed machine learning techniques have a wide applicability, i.e., in general data fusion, and may thus be informative to the general interested reader. © 2015 IEEE.

In this paper, we propose a collaborative brain-computer interface for the automatic discrimination of images containing specific targets. When a user looks at a stream of images that are displayed using the rapid serial visual presentation protocol, images containing targets elicit a P300 event-related potential that can be detected. This allows the images to be automatically labelled as targets and non-targets. While this is relatively unreliable with single users, by combining the evidence from groups of users, we obtained relative median improvements in the accuracy (assessed by the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve) of 8.2% and 14.3% for groups of 2 and 3 users, respectively.

A significant proportion of patients affected by Parkinson's disease (PD) suffer from drug-resistant tremor, which often eventually progresses to disabling and distressing levels. Recent literature on PD indicates that such tremor is associated with corresponding oscillations in the thalamus. In this research, we wanted to explore the possibility that affecting such oscillations via a form of external audio-visual periodic stimulation (known as entrainment) might also have an indirect effect on PD tremor. Results with three PD patients have been encouraging, with all three showing a marked reduction of their tremor during the intervention with entrainment at approximately 10 Hz. However, in control sessions where stimuli presented no entraining oscillations, a very similar pattern of reduction in tremor was observed. This suggests that such a reduction is more likely due to the state of relaxation induced by both protocols than to an actual direct interference of the entrainment frequencies with the tremor frequencies.
