In this paper, we investigate the problem of minimizing the long-term total cost (i.e., the sum of energy cost and thermal discomfort cost) associated with a Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system of a multizone commercial building under smart grid environment. To be specific, we first formulate a stochastic program to minimize the time average expected total cost with the consideration of uncertainties in electricity price, outdoor temperature, the most comfortable temperature level, and external thermal disturbance. Due to the existence of temporally and spatially coupled constraints as well as unknown information about the future system parameters, it is very challenging to solve the formulated problem. To this end, we propose a realtime HVAC control algorithm based on the framework of Lyapunov optimization techniques without the need to predict any system parameters and know their stochastic information. The key idea of the proposed algorithm is to construct and stabilize virtual queues associated with indoor temperatures of all zones. Moreover, we provide a distributed implementation of the proposed realtime algorithm with the aim of protecting user privacy and enhancing algorithmic scalability. Extensive simulation results based on real-world traces show that the proposed algorithm could reduce energy cost effectively with small sacrifice in thermal comfort. Copyright © 2017, The Authors. Biased decoy-state reference-frame-independent quantum key distribution

Without actively aligning the reference frames, the reference-frame-independent quantum key distribution (RFI-QKD) can generate secure keys even when the reference frames drift slowly. Here, we propose a new scheme on the decoy-state RFI-QKD, where the basis assignments of two legitimate parties are biased, reducing the fraction of mismatched-basis data. When accounting for statistical fluctuations under different misalignments of reference frames, we investigate the performance of biased decoy-state RFI-QKD with full parameter optimization. We also make a clear comparison between the new scheme with other practical schemes, e.g., unbiased decoy-state RFI-QKD and biased decoy-state BB84-QKD. Simulation results demonstrate that the new proposed biased decoy-state RFI-QKD can significantly improve the performance (secret key rate and secure transmission distance) of practical QKD systems. Atmospheric ducts are horizontal layers that occur under certain weather conditions in the lower *** signals guided in atmospheric ducts tend to experience less attenuation and spread much farther,i.e,hundreds of *** a large-scale deployed TD-LTE(Time Division Long Term Evolution)network,atmospheric ducts cause faraway downlink wireless signals to propagate beyond the designed protection distance and interfere with local uplink signals,thus resulting in a large outage *** this paper,we analyze the characteristics of ADI atmospheric duct interference(Atmospheric Duct Interference)by the use of real network-side big data from the current operated TD-LTE network owned by China *** analysis results yield the time varying and directional characteristics of *** addition,we proposed an SVM(Support Vector Machine)-classi er based spacial prediction method of ADI by machine learning over combination of real network-side big data and real meteorological ***,an implementation of ADMM(Alternating Direction Methods of Multipliers)framework is proposed to implement a distributed SVM prediction scheme,which reduces data exchange among di erent regions/cities,maintains similar prediction accuracy and is thus of a more practical use to operators.

An Expressive, Lightweight and Secure Construction of key Policy Attribute-Based Cloud Data Sharing Access Control

Attribute-based encryption (ABE) is an interesting cryptographic technique for flexible cloud data sharing access control. However, some open challenges hinder its practical application. In previous schemes, all attributes are considered as in the same status while they are not in most of practical scenarios. Meanwhile, the size of access policy increases dramatically with the raise of its expressiveness complexity. In addition, current research hardly notices that mobile front-end devices, such as smartphones, are poor in computational performance while too much bilinear pairing computation is needed for ABE. In this paper, we propose a key-policy weighted attribute-based encryption without bilinear pairing computation (KP-WABE-WB) for secure cloud data sharing access control. A simple weighted mechanism is presented to describe different importance of each attribute. We introduce a novel construction of ABE without executing any bilinear pairing computation. Compared to previous schemes, our scheme has a better performance in expressiveness of access policy and computational efficiency.

In HEVC, prediction mode decision is essential for efficient coding in applications. While many fast algorithms have been designed to reduce the candidate modes, the features of scene switch frames have seldom been considered. These frames usually have no relationship with the previous frames. Thus, intra modes should be used. In this paper, we propose a simple and efficient Hash-based algorithm. It evaluates the motion intensity of videos and can detect the occurrence of scene switch efficiently. Then chooses the best prediction modes among intra ones directly for CUs in these frames. Experimental results show that it achieves 42% to 53% time saving of the switch frame prediction. Meanwhile, as the prediction time of a switch frame is about 5 to 13 times over that of a normal continuous frame, the algorithm can achieve an outstanding improvement in the prediction of the whole video, especially when dealing with multi-scene videos.

Differential reprogramming based on constructive interference for wireless sensor network

To improve the performance of reprogramming in wireless sensor network, we present a novel reprogramming structure and constructive interference-based dissemination protocol (CIDP) to transmit the patch throughout the network fast and reliability. CIDP disseminates the patch, which is divided into several packets, to the network exploiting constructive interference. We evaluate our implementation of CIDP using simulation under different number of nodes. Our results show that CIDP disseminates the patch less than 4 milliseconds. In general, the probability of a node receives the complete patch as high as 99.99%. Copyright © 2016 American Scientific Publishers. All rights reserved.

Load Balanced Coding Aware Multipath Routing for wireless Mesh networks

The growth of network coding opportunities is considered the unique optimization goal by most current network coding based routing algorithms for wireless mesh networks. This usually results in flows aggregation problem in areas with coding opportunities, and degrades the network performance. This paper proposes a Load balanced coding aware multipath routing(LCMR)for wireless mesh networks. To facilitate the evaluation of discovered multiple paths and the tradeoffs between coding opportunity and load balancing, a novel routing metric, Load balanced coding aware routing metric(LCRM) is presented, which considers the load degree of nodes when detects coding opportunities. LCMR could spread traffic over multipath to further balance load. Simulation results demonstrate that LCMR could evenly spread the traffic over the network with increasing network throughput in a heavy load at the expense of some coding opportunities.

This paper proposes an integrated poor-quality model to find the potential relationship between elected STB (set-top boxes) indicators and network conditions. The target is to make the IPTV network fault diagnosis more accurately and efficiently, especially for the sudden pause or blurred screen. The integrated poor-quality model consists of indicator, record and user model. Firstly, the poor-quality indicator model is in charge of selecting the effective indexes from candidate STB indicators. From the result of experiment, we conclude that jitter, abend-number and MLR (media loss rate) are the most important QoS (Quality of Service) parameters in our scenario. Secondly, the poor-quality record model has responsibility for adjustment of threshold values in order to meet the needs of higher accuracy rate with lower misjudgment ratio. Finally, the poor-quality user model takes customer's viewing time parameter into account, which can reflect end user's quality of experience objectively.

With the popularity of network, P2P-based Video on Demand (VoD) has become one of the main services in Internet. However, due to the huge amount of videos, how to access the video quickly is important since it affects the subscriber's experience. In this paper, a popularity-driven storing model is proposed to fasten the video discovery for a centralized P2P-VoD system. All videos are stored in a binary tree in the server according to their popularities. Experimental results show that this scheme works well in terms of discovery delay and resource utilization.
