The separation of the control plane from the data plane has made the novel paradigm, Software-Defined networking (SDN), available in both small-scale and large-scale networks. Unlike small-scale networks with merely one controller for deployment, employing multiple controllers is essential to meet the requirements of reliability and scalability in Software- Defined WANs (SDWANs). However, the occurrence of the node or link failures in the control plane may severely deteriorate the system performance. Therefore, how to determine the number and locations of the distributed controllers in SDWANs for enhancing network reliability with propagation latency constraints worth in-depth study. In this paper, we formulate the controller placement problem in SDWANs mathematically and propose a heuristic algorithm with low computational complexity to address it. By incorporating the centroid-based network partition scheme, we further ameliorate the CPP for maximizing reliability with latency constraints. Experiments are performed on real network topologies to validate the effectiveness of our approach for controller placement problem in SDWANs.

In this paper, we propose a movable antenna (MA) enhanced scheme for wireless powered mobile edge computing (WP-MEC) system, where the hybrid access point (HAP) equipped with multiple MAs first emits wireless energy to charge wireless devices (WDs), and then receives the offloaded tasks from the WDs for edge computing. The MAs deployed at the HAP enhance the spatial degrees of freedom (DoFs) by flexibly adjusting the positions of MAs within an available region, thereby improving the efficiency of both downlink wireless energy transfer (WPT) and uplink task offloading. To balance the performance enhancement against the implementation intricacy, we further propose three types of MA positioning configurations, i.e., dynamic MA positioning, semi-dynamic MA positioning, and static MA positioning. In addition, the non-linear power conversion of energy harvesting (EH) circuits at the WDs and the finite computing capability at the edge server are taken into account. Our objective is to maximize the sum computational rate (SCR) by jointly optimizing the time allocation, positions of MAs, energy beamforming matrix, receive combing vectors, and offloading strategies of WDs. To solve the non-convex problems, efficient alternating optimization (AO) frameworks are proposed. Moreover, we propose a hybrid algorithm of particle swarm optimization with variable local search (PSO-VLS) to solve the sub-problem of MA positioning. Numerical results validate the superiority of exploiting MAs over the fixed-position antennas (FPAs) for enhancing the SCR performance of WP-MEC systems. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. The routing efficiency in Delay Tolerant networks (DTN) with social characteristics degrades owing to intermittent connection and high latency. Additionally, congestion is another issue because of the limited resources of nodes. To solve these problems, an improved Socially Aware Congestion Control algorithm (SACC) is proposed. In this algorithm, the social features and the congestion level of the node are utilized to construct a Social Congestion Metric (SCM). In the forwarding process, messages are forwarded to the nodes with higher SCM. When the congestion occurs, the node calculates the social links of itself with every message's destination node, and then drops the message with minimum social link rather than random dropping. Simulation results show that in the acceptable range of delay tolerance, the proposed algorithm improves the delivery probability, decreases the dropping probability and reduces the overhead.

Geolocation and tracking of mobile objects is an important issue in wireless communication networks. Various methods have been devised and implemented to deal with such problems whose performance is particularly limited in non-line-of-sight propagation conditions. In this paper, we take advantage of the extended Kalman filter with some extensions, modifications and improvement of previous work to reduce the NLOS error in the location measurement. One of the key contributions of this paper is to present the methods that discriminate the NLOS measurements from the LOS measurements based on the standard deviation and K-means clustering and reconstruct the LOS measurements out of the NLOS measurements by polynomial fit in order to mitigate the NLOS error. Simulation results confirm the effectiveness and accuracy of our approach in comparison with the conventional EKF algorithm. Moreover, we do not model the distribution of the NLOS error due to its intractability.

User centric network (UCN) brought a new concept of all routers to be intelligent and definable, intelligent wireless terminals implement more video online service than general webpage exploring service, in the time of content is the king, how to provide a best user experience for the video content user under intelligent wireless routers(IWR) is a key focus in the current research of user centric network. This paper proposed a scheme of intelligent pipe between Policy server and IWR, and designed a novel content popularity compensation (CPC) algorithm in user centric network framework, the IWR obtained the user attributes and video content popularity, used the parameter of content popularity compensation index (CPI) to integrate the classified user weight (CUW) and content popularity level (CPL), the modified satisfaction degree (MSD) was designed to replace of the general index of user satisfaction degree, such as linear satisfaction degree (LSD) and simple logarithmic satisfaction (SLS). The scheduling rule was to get a maximized system MSD, and the measurement of user average satisfaction (UAS) was the evaluation standard of CPC. The simulations results showed that the CPC got the better performance than that of routine algorithms, such as max-min fairness (MMF) and Utility function (ULF), the CPC algorithm could push on the intelligent wireless router in smart home and bring a novel video content quality of experience (QoE) of future wireless video online users.

Femtocell networks which use femtocell access point (FAP) and existing networks as backhaul connectivity can meet the requirement of high data rate for wireless communication system as well as solve the indoor coverage problem. The handover from femtocell to femtocell is quite demanding and complicated because there are hundreds of possible target FAPs when mobile station (MS) moves out from the coverage of its serving FAP. In this paper, we propose a new mechanism for femtocell-to-femtocell handover which considers several factors such as received signal level, the hidden FAP problem and the access mode of femtocell. The simulation results show that our proposed scheme has a lower handover failure rate and a smaller neighbor femtocell list than the traditional scheme which is based on received signal level only.

Overlay networks are used widely in the Internet, such as retrieval and share of files, multimedia games and so on. However, in distributed system, the retrieval and share of 2-dimension spatial data still have some difficult problems and can not solve the complex retrieval of 2-dimension spatial data efficiently. This article presents a new indexing overlay networks, named 2D-Ring, which is the ring topology based on gossip for 2-dimension spatial data. The peers in our overlay networks exchange the information periodically and update each local view by constructing algorithm. 2-dimension spatial data is divided by quad-tree and mapped into control points, which are hashed into 2D-Ring by SHA-1 hash function. In such way, the problem of 2-dimension spatial data indexing is converted to the problem of searching peers in the 2D-Ring. A large of extensive experiments show that the time complexity of constructing algorithm of 2D-Ring can reach convergence logarithmically as a function of the network size and hold higher hit rate and lower query delay.

Future cellular networks such as IMT-Advanced are expected to allow Device-to-Device (D2D) communication as an underlay. During the downlink period, both of the D2D receiver and cellular user will suffer from interference caused by radio resource sharing. In this paper, a joint resource allocation and resource reuse scheme is investigated, in which resource allocation to cellular users is employed on proportional fair algorithm and resource reuse to D2D users is employed on a greedy heuristic algorithm. The greedy heuristic algorithm determines the D2D mode is appropriate or not by path loss comparison, then decreases the interference to cellular user by selection of the minimum channel gain between cellular user and D2D transmitter each time. System simulations in two different scenarios demonstrate that sum throughput of cellular user and D2D pair is improved using the proposed scheme, and the interference to cellular user is under control.

An out-of-order data streams oriented BP algorithm for association rules of big data

Because of the difficulty of getting the association rules over out-of-order streams for big data, this paper presents an improved BP algorithm based on dynamical adjustment. In this algorithm, a dynamic adaptive structural is settled according to environmental requirements, which can automatically remove invalid training neurons, and optimize the iterative training process. Furthermore, the algorithm dynamically adjusts three factors (i.e. momentum factor, right learning index and threshold learning factor) during the learning process to speed up the response time and enhance the stability of the network. In the simulation, three factors are changed by a self-adapting adjusting mechanism. By comparing with the traditional BP algorithm, it gets more convergence times and convergence rate. Results also indicate that the proposed algorithm can obviously improve efficiency and finally obtain the association rules over out-of-order data streams.

To date, only active-decoy-state methods have been adopted in current measurement-device-independent (MDI) quantum key distribution (QKD) protocols, causing security loopholes when modulating multiple light intensities with practical devices. To solve this problem, the passive-decoy-state method will be a good choice. Until today practical passive-decoy-state MDI QKD is still missing. In this paper, based on a recently discussed structure of heralded single-photon sources, we propose a passive-decoy-state MDI QKD protocol. In present work, one does not need to modulate light sources into different intensities, but utilizes the built-in local detection events to passively generate different decoy states. Furthermore, through carrying out an appropriate mathematical method, we are able to give very precise estimations for single-photon-pair contributions. As a result, our protocol can exhibit distinct advantages compared with state-of-the-art MDI QKD schemes even when the finite-key-size effect is taken into account. Therefore, our protocol seems a promising candidate to enhance both the security and performance of MDI QKD in practical implementation.
