Fair OFDMA (orthogonal frequency division multiple access) based subcarrier allocation algorithm is proposed. The method includes adaptive modulation and power control per subcarrier, considering actual channel state information between users and base station. This article deals with manual and automatic constraint propagation, orthogonalization and linearization used to reduce search space in a particular modeling environment. Meanwhile, it presents industrial and educational scheduling problems. The article introduces the SIMONEK modeling language, some heuristics and search techniques, and deals with some automatically obtainable constraints. Examples of solving the presented problems and a remodeled ILP problem are also presented. Finally, common methods to formulate linear models from non-linear real-world problems in the particular modeling language are presented.

It is widely known that, for the affine camera model, both shape and motion data can be factorized directly from the measurement matrix constructed from 2D image points coordinates. However, classical algorithms for structure from motion (SfM) are not robust: measurement outliers, that is, incorrectly detected or matched feature points can destroy the result. A few methods to robustify SfM have already been proposed. Different outlier detection schemes have been used. We examine an efficient algorithm by Trajkovic et al. (1997) who use affine camera model and the least median of squares (LMedS) method to separate inliers from outliers. LMedS is only applicable when the ratio of inliers exceeds 50%. We show that the least trimmed squares (LTS) method is more efficient in robust SfM than LMedS. In particular, we demonstrate that LTS can handle inlier ratios below 50%. We also show that using the real (Euclidean) motion data results in a more precise SfM algorithm that using the affine camera model. Based on these observations, we propose a novel robust SfM algorithm and discuss its advantages and limits. The proposed method and the Trajkovic procedure are quantitatively compared on synthetic data in different simulated situations. The methods are also tested on synthesized and real video sequences.

Distributed sensor networks are a fast developing scenario. Ambient assisted living (AAL) is among those scenarios, with ever-growing importance among developed countries with aging population. The smallest components of these systems are the chip size sensors that have embedded sensing, data processing and transmitting capabilities. A strong need is arising to develop integrated means of powering these sensors. Our paper investigates requirements against chips and powering issues and proposes a sample MOS technology compatible array of solar cells integrated on the same wafer as the integrated circuit. The aim of this design is to help to the development of "pin free" autonomous sensor packages

Since lead-free soldering is initiated in the electronic industry in 1 st of July 2006, studying the behaviour of lead-free solders in depth is more important than ever. The small chip components of present day demand for very accurate component placement machines, in order to prevent common reflow failures such as skewing or tombstoning. The ability of components to be self-aligned during soldering works against these failures, therefore it matters to what extent the solder promote this effect. Dynamic behaviour of SMT (surface mount technology) chip components during lead-free reflow soldering is demonstrated in the paper, especially focusing on movement. A force model is given by the virtue of the four forces, which have effect on the chip during reflow soldering, namely: the force originating from hydrostatic and capillary pressure, the force of gravity, the force of dynamic friction and the force originating from the surface tension. The self-alignment of 0603 size chip components has been investigated in our experiment. The experiments were carried out using lasercut stainless steel stencil and SAC305 type lead-free solder paste. The results have shown that the self-alignment of components does occur even in the case of 400-500 mum misplacements.

Electroconductive polymer based gas sensors have been investigated focusing on the resistance changes when exposing them to an ammonia atmosphere. At first, the resistance increase of these devices in air after manufacturing then, the changes in resistance after exposing them to ammonia of different concentration were examined. These phenomena and also the curing method of the polymer film prepared by electrochemical polymerisation are described and examined here. The main topic of this paper is what kind of problems we must face during signal processing of the responses given by this type of device when designing an accurate concentration measuring system.

The superactivation of zero-capacity quantum channels makes it possible to use two zero-capacity quantum channels with a positive joint capacity at the output. Currently, we have no theoretical results for describing all possible combinations of superactive zero-capacity channels, hence there should be many possible - still undiscovered - combinations. Our method gives an algorithmic solution to the superactivation problem, and provides an efficient algorithmic solution for discovering “superactive” zero-capacity optical quantum channels. We analyze the superactivation property of the amplitude damping quantum channel model. This model has great importance in practical communications, since this channel model describes energy dissipation due to the noise of the optical channel. To discover these superactive zero-capacity channels, an extremely large set of possible quantum states has to be analyzed, however an efficient algorithmic framework is still missing for this purpose. We show a fundamentally new method of finding the conditions for “superactive” zero-capacity optical quantum channels.

Nowadays the importance of solar cells and R&D in this field is steadily increasing. The most important parameter of a solar cell is the generated power, which can be enhanced by use of solar tracking. For a correct determination of the tracking system's efficiency an irradiation sensor is necessary, because the irradiation from the sun changes constantly. This sensor device is placed on the tracker's frame and transfers the intensity data to a monitoring system. The sensor developed for irradiation measurement must have accuracy and a reliable construction under outdoor use conditions (between the temperature values of -20degC and 80degC). The sensor is based on a photoelectric cell, and incorporates a read out circuit for providing steady short circuit conditions for the cell as well as for signal amplification. Thermal tests (HTS, LTOL) were accomplished in a climate chamber in the temperature range of -20 to 80degC in steps of 10degC. To determine the fundamentals of the thermal dependence of the sensor cell spectral response measurements under varying temperatures were performed.

The contact free vibrating capacitor method is a valuable tool for investigating the surface potentials of solid surfaces. The purpose of the present article is to summarize the theory and capabilities of the vibrating capacitor method, especially scanning vibrating capacitor pictures in the MEMS testing. After a brief review some results will be discussed, such as equilibrium and non-equilibrium surface potential maps taken from a MEMS resonator, a surface potential map from a cantilever testchip and some maps from a radial-channel micro-cooler plate and heat flux meter. Potential maps contain a lot of information concerning the surface conditions, included the inhomogeneities of the technology, static surface charge, bias and effects of other additional excitations. These potential maps may help in the development, quality control and defect analysis of the MEMS.

In the area of high voltages and powers, the high quality inverter-fed ac drive is more easily achieved by the use of three-level inverters. For three-level inverters three different PWM control regions can be introduced where different three-phase PWM strategies may be applied. This paper deals with the analysis of that three-phase PWM method of three-level inverters which ensures the lowest value of motor harmonic losses. However, the realization of this PWM method is not so simple as the space vector PWM. At the same time in the low and middle voltage area the space vector PWM method gives bigger harmonic losses than the optimal PWM method. The motor voltage spectrum derivation for both the optimal version and the space vector PWMs are given and the results are checked by straight harmonic computations and by simulations
