For designing and developing products/services it is vital to know the relevancy of the performance generated by each technical attribute and how they can increase customer satisfaction. Improving the parameters of technical attributes requires financial resources, and the budgets are generally limited. Thus the optimum target is to achieve maximum customer satisfaction within given financial limits. Kano's quality model classifies the relationships between customer satisfaction and attribute-level performance and indicates that some of the attributes have a nonlinear relationship to satisfaction, rather power-function should be used. For the customers' subjective evaluation these relationships are not deterministic and are uncertain. This paper proposes a method for fuzzy extension of Kano's model and presents numerical examples that can prove the efficiency of bacterial evolutionary algorithm in as well.

Programming of industrial robots is normally carried out via so-called "Teach" or "Offline" programming methodologies. Both methodologies have associated weaknesses like a high time consumption for programming on sculptured surfaces (especially "Teach"), and both methodologies cannot, at the same time, carry information of the real work piece and the ideal work piece (CAD-model). To be able to see both the real and ideal world is especially important when the industrial robot is used in manufacturing processes like machining, grinding, deburring etc. where the difference between the real and ideal world represents the material removal. This paper presents a new vision based programming methodology which combines information of the real and ideal world, especially adapted for robot grinding and deburring operations. Further, the presented methodology is especially developed with simplicity in mind when it comes to man-machine communication. Thus, a standard marker pen can be used by the operator to draw the robot path directly onto the work piece. This line is captured by a vision system and finally leads to the generation of the robot path. The presented methodology is a further development of the previous work of the authors as presented (Solvang et al., 2007 and Sziebig, 2007), especially concerning optimization of the robot tool positioning with respect to a work piece surface.

We have broken EMAP (Efficient Mutual Authentication Protocol), which is a mutual authentication protocol between RFID tags and RFID readers. We give an algorithm, which breaks the protocol after eavesdropping only a few rounds. Assuming that one can eavesdrop a few consecutive rounds of authentications for the same RFID tag (the expected number for the presented algorithm is about 9, but it is possible to reduce this number to about 3.5), the attacker learns the identity number of the tag and every common secret shared by the tag and the reader. This means that in future authentication rounds, the attacker can successfully impersonate the targeted tag. Our breaking procedure is fully passive as opposed to the active attack described in [2].

This paper proposes human-robot cooperative tele-micromanipulation system with novel single-master (PHANToM haptic device) multi-slaves (6 D.O.F parallel manipulator). The different kinematical configuration and the different D.O.F between the master and the slave introduces a mapping problem which can be serious for some cooperative manipulations. The position/force virtual mapping method is implemented in the single-master dual-slave tele-micromanipulation system to realize the human-robot cooperative internal force regulation while grasping task. The generated reference trajectories of both manipulators by the virtual mapping method are shared with the cooperative impedance control of multi-slaves to regulate the internal force while grasping an object. Lastly, an improved internal force regulation using the SMMS (single-master multi-slave) tele-micromanipulation system while grasping an object is verified by the pick-and-place experimental results.

We investigate the local motion of a planar rigid body with unilateral constraints in the neighborhood of a two-contact frictional equilibrium configuration on a slope. A new sufficient condition of Lyapunov stability is developed in the presence of arbitrary external forces. Additionally, we construct an example, which is stable against perturbations by infinitesimal forces, but does not possess Lyapunov stability against infinitesimal displacements or impulses. The great difference between previous stability criteria and ours leads to further questions about the nature of the exact stability condition.

The paper gives an overview of the Yoto project, a novel e-learning initiative to build up an electrical engineering knowledge base. It also presents a new e-module of the project relating to the steady-state operation of DC-DC converters. The multimedia rich module contains numerous interactive tools promoting the high level education in the academy sector and the vocational trainings in the industry. The interactive tools also highly support the circuit design process by enabling fast calculation and access to relevant circuit quantities and waveforms (voltages and currents) in steady-state without long simulations

The target of this paper is to propose a hybrid combination of the three main branches of Computational Intelligence, namely Fuzzy Systems, Neural Networks and Evolutionary Computing. The function approximation properties of fuzzy J-K and D flip-flops based feedforward neural network optimized and trained with a novel evolutionary algorithm based technique; the Bacterial Memetic Algorithm with Modified Operator Execution Order (BMAM) is studied.

AnaDig, an IC designed for educational purposes, is described. The teaching goal of the chip is to familiarize the students with the properties of IC devices and basic building blocks. Numerous laboratory experiments are available within the same measurement environment. The temperature dependent characteristics can be obtained. The chip was prototyped and verified.

Using induced L 2 -norm minimization, a robust controller was developed for insulin delivery in Type I diabetic patients. The high-complexity nonlinear diabetic patient Sorensen-model [1] was considered. LPV (Linear Parameter Varying) methodology was used to develop open loop model and robust controller. Considering the normoglycemic set point (81.1 mg/dL), a polytopic set was created over the physiologic boundaries of the glucose-insulin interaction of the Sorensen-model. In this way, LPV model formalism was defined. The robust control was developed considering input and output multiplicative uncertainties with other weighting functions.
