Microwave remote sensing based real vehicle movement estimator is under development. The application of this microwave sensor effectively increases the safety of traffic. The movement sensor provides further information about the estimation of the road-quality and the condition of shock-absorber, which are useful for the maintainer.

It is well known that in the Hungarian PWR-type nuclear power plant Paks the radioactive waste waters are collected in common tanks. These water streams contain radioactive isotopes in ultra-low concentration and inactive compounds as major components (borate 1.7 g/dm 3 , sodium-nitrate 0.4 g/dm 3 , sodium-hydroxide 0.16 g/dm 3 , and oxalate 0.25 g/dm 3 ). These low salinity solutions were evaporated by adding sodium-hydroxide, until 400 g/dm 3 salt content is reached. There is about 6000 m 3 concentrated evaporator bottom residues in the tanks of the PWR. We have developed a complex technology for the selective separation of the long live radionuclides and for the partial recycle of boric acid from this evaporator bottom residue. A wastewater treatment system has been developed by using a cesium selective inorganic ion exchanger. The selective separation of cesium ( 137 Cs, 134 Cs) from high salt concentration and strongly alkaline evaporator bottom residue in Paks Nuclear Power Plant has a volume reduction factor about 1800-3500 at the value of the decontamination factor DF > 100, for the samples of four tanks of the Hungarian PWR Paks.

Voluntary disclosure of personal information is becoming more and more widespread with the advent of Web 2.0 services. Publishing such information constitutes new kinds of threats, such as further reinforcing already existing profiling techniques through correlation of perceived user activities to those publicly disclosed, but the most obvious of all is the intrinsic threat that malicious third parties collect and combine information we publish about ourselves. In this paper, we evaluate currently existing solutions that are destined for addressing this issue, then propose a model of our own for providing access control for a user over information she published and analyse our implementation thereof.

We refer to channels of communication that link the user to information systems as cognitive communication channels. One especially interesting research topic related to cognitive communication channels deals with a special application called sensory substitution, when information is conveyed through a channel other than the one that is normally used for the given application. Our goal is to develop engineering systems for the remote teleoperation of robots using sensory substitution to convey feedback information in meaningful ways. Such applications could help reduce the cognitive load for the user on the one hand, and help alleviate the effect of control instabilities and hidden parameters on the other. In this paper, we present a tensor algebraic approach for the compact representation of complete sensory substitution channels. Using HOSVD, we transform our representations into canonical, orthogonal forms. Through a combination of rank-reduction and error compensation techniques, we propose an iterative and hierarchical parameter space exploration method which may help users tune the generated sensory substituted signals in a more intuitive fashion. As an application example, we present a mapping between tactile percepts and auditory parameters in order to convey the tactile experience of a robot to a remote user through sound. In order to be able to apply a wide a wide range of mathematical analysis tools - such as principal component analysis and user performance-oriented adaptivity - we demonstrate that it is possible to convert our models into HOSVD-based canonical forms. The verification of the enhanced parameter space exploration method using rank reduction and error compensation in this application remains part of our future work.

The level differences on the PCBs' surface can keep the stencil away from the PCB during stencil printing, which causes large deposited solder paste volume, and can result in solder bridges after reflow soldering. The level differences can be caused by identity decals, or by other artifacts on the PCB. In our experiment the effect of these level differences was investigated. A testboard was designed with solder pads and copper tracks. The thickness of the copper tracks were enlarged selectively by electroplating, thus those kept the stencil away from the PCB. In this way we could investigate the effect of PCB level differences. In the same time another test pattern was designed as well, where small pads were placed in continuously growing distance from an electroplated area. With this test pattern we could investigate the stencil bending, and a minimum distance is determined which should be kept in mind to enable the stencil to bend down to the PCB. The detailed results are presented in the paper.

Social networks are becoming increasingly popular nowadays. The increasing capabilities of mobile phones enable them to participate in such networks. We should consider the fact, that the phonebooks in the mobile devices represent social relationships that can be integrated in the social networks. Such networks provide a synchronization mechanism between phonebooks of the users and the social network which allows detecting other users listed in the phonebooks. Users can accept detected similarities. After that, if one of their contacts changes her or his personal detail, it will be propagated automatically into the phonebooks, after considering privacy settings. Estimating the total number of these similarities is a key issue from scalability point of view in such networks. We implemented a phonebook-centric social network, called Phonebookmark and investigated the structure of the network. Previously it was shown that the distribution of similarities follows a power law. Also a model was proposed by us, which can be used to calculate the total number of similarities. However the accuracy of the model is another question, because of the infinite variance of the power law distribution. The contribution of this paper is that using the fact that a member of the network can only be involved in a limited number of similarities results in a similarity distribution with a finite variance. Therefore, central limit theorems can be used to show the accuracy of our estimation of the total number of similarities. However the model can be used in other power law distributions which apply to the requirements.

The paper investigates failure localization in all-optical mesh networks using monitoring trails (m-trails) and monitoring trees (m-trees). By considering shared risk link groups (SRLGs) of different scenarios, integer linear programs (ILP) for m-trail/m-tree allocation are provided that can achieve unambiguous failure localization (UFL) of any single SRLG failure.

The popularity of web based social networks is rapidly increasing nowadays. These solutions allow managing relationships online. There are also several mobile solutions to these networks but they are mainly limited to reaching the services of the social network from the mobile device. The fact, that the phonebook of the mobile phones also represents social relationships, can be used for detecting additional relationships in the social network automatically, which has several benefits. For this a similarity detecting algorithm is required, which runs in the background on demand, on the server. When a member registers and synchronizes her or his entire phonebook the system should detect similarities as fast as possible. In this paper we introduce our mobile based social network. We discuss about similarity detecting based on phonebook sizes and we show a queuing theory based model regarding to registration delays.

We use high pump power to demonstrate large C-band phase sensitive gain in a periodically-poled lithium-niobate waveguide chip for the first time. We measure a maximum gain/attenuation dynamic range of 9.4 dB with over 3.6 dB phase sensitive gain compared to phase insensitive operation. We also observe phase sensitive gain over a 17 nm bandwidth limited by the booster EDFA gain spectrum.
