NFC is one of the latest wireless communication technologies, making possible variety of business opportunities. StoLPaN, a pan-European consortium of companies, universities and user groups aims to define open commercial and technical frameworks for the remote management of NFC-enabled services on mobile devices. These frameworks will facilitate the deployment of NFC-enabled mobile applications regardless of the phone type and the nature of the services required. This paper describes the latest results of StoLPan consortium, the technical and business challenges of the NFC service development, interesting findings about the current issues of the NFC market, and a summary about the StoLPan application framework containing NFC technological details. Application opportunities of NFC services in the retail environment are also introduced.

Engineering for development and application of products recently applies highly integrated modeling and simulation in comprehensive product lifecycle management (PLM) systems. At the same time, role of the product model is being changed from information description to medium for the communication between engineers. This new role requires a product model that includes background of decisions on information of engineering objects enough for the purpose of above communication. The authors would like to contribute to the improvements necessary to enhance the above communication by an information content based solution for modeling of the background of engineering decisions on engineering objects. In this paper, they introduce influencing effects on engineering objects and explain their concept and method for indirect communication through product model. Following this, they discuss essential structure of the proposed virtual engineering space that is an extension of the currently applied model space. Finally, possibilities for the implementation of the proposed modeling in current PLM systems and research for the next future are outlined.

This paper applies new cognitive infocommunication channels in human-machine interaction to develop a new paradigm of robot teaching and supervision. The robot is considered as an unskilled worker who is strong and capable for precise manufacturing. It has a special kind of intelligence but it is handicapped in a sense, which requires it to be supervised. If people can learn how to communicate to this ldquonew workerrdquo they can get a new, capable ldquocolleaguerdquo. The goal is that the boss is able to give the daily task to a robot in a similar way as he/she gives the jobs to the human workers, for example using CAD documentations, gestures and some verbal explanation. This paper presents an industrial robot supervision system inspired by research results of cognitive infocommunication. The operator can steer the remote manipulator by certain gestures using a motion capture suit as input device. Every gesture has its own meaning, which corresponds to a specific movement of the robot. The manipulator interprets and executes the instructions invoking its on-board artificial intelligence, while feedback through a 3D visualization unit closes the supervisory loop. The system was designed to be independent of the geographical distance between the user and the manipulated environment, allowing to establish control loops spanning through countries and continents. Successful results have been achieved between Norway, France and Hungary.

In order for IP to become a full-fledged carrier- grade transport technology, a native IP failure-recovery scheme is necessary that can correct failures in the order of milliseconds. IP fast reroute (IPFRR) intends to fill this gap, providing fast, local and proactive handling of failures right in the IP layer. Building on experiences and extensive measurement results collected with a prototype implementation of the prevailing IPFRR technique, Not-via, in this paper we identify high address management burden and computational complexity as the major causes of why commercial IPFRR deployment still lags behind, and we present a lightweight not-via scheme, which, according to our measurements, improves these issues.

The task of solving the adaptive control of a partially and imprecisely modeled electrical vehicle driven by three omnidirectional wheels together with the torque and/or power limits of their electric driving motors is considered. The vehicle is very roughly modeled as a rigid body while the a part of the burden carried by it through elastic connection is completely neglected in the controller's model. Instead parameter estimation techniques a simple, kinematically designed, PID- type trajectory tracking is formulated that is implemented via robust fixed point transformations. It is shown that if the nominal trajectory does not significantly excite the vehicle- burden connection precise and stable control can be achieved by the adaptivity, while the pure PID-type control may considerably excite this degree of freedom and can be corrupted by achieving either the torque or the power limits of the motors. The motors are supposed to be voltage controlled asynchronous drives with constant frequency excitation. Our statement is substantiated by numerical simulations. The main advantage of the proposed control is that it operates with local basin of attraction developed for convergent iterative Cauchy sequences that is easy to design by setting only a few parameters. Its disadvantage is that it cannot guarantee global stability therefore its application must be preceded by numerical tests. Its use may be especially useful in applications in industrial workshops when modeling the dynamics of the coupled subsystem technically is very difficult, e.g. when it is a tank partially containing heavy liquid.

In this paper a new co-simulation approach is presented for modelling and simulating both mechanical and electrical components together at the same time for X-by-wire automotive applications. The system to be simulated contains electronically controlled magnet valves. The optimal electronic control of the magnet can be easily adjusted by this co-simulation approach during the designing phase. The idea, the model, the results of the co-simulation, and the realized electronic control unit are presented. The identification of the magnet valve model and the validation of the electronic unit are finalized by measurements on the realized system.

Customer loyalty as part of user behaviour has significant impact on the Internet service providers' (ISPs) price setting strategies as shown recently in [1]-[5]. However, these papers focused mainly on short-term interactions of the ISPs, which - we believe - is not usually the case in practice as ISPs have to be aware of the long-term effects of their pricing decisions. Future-aware decision making is even more important if the structure of the local ISP market changes, e.g. a new ISP enters the market. In this paper, we address long-term pricing strategies of ISPs on local access markets with costumer loyalty. The contribution of the paper is threefold. Firstly, we present a case by empirical analysis for a user loyalty model, which differs from usual models as it is based on the price difference of the ISPs. Secondly, we present ISP pricing strategies on static ISP markets using game-theoretical tools. Thirdly, we model the dynamic ISP market with Stackelberg leader-follower game and propose equilibrium pricing strategies, taking into account the impacts of expected future incomes. Finally, we quantify and evaluate the effects of uncertainties of long-term decisions by simulating ISP markets.

Several optimalization algorithms have been proposed for the solution the minimal and the multiterminal minimal path of a network having cost (distance) function. In this paper we present these algorithms in a special network in which on the edges a gain function is given. On the edge (x,y) of the network a t(x,y) transportation cost is defined. In the course of the transportation on the edge (x,y) the goods loose a part of there weight. If one unit of goods is transported from point x to point y then k(x,y) unite of goods arrive at point y, where 0≪k(x,y)≪1. The above mentioned 2 algorithms are presented in the network having gains. These problems are interested not only theoretically, but in the practice too. For example the maximal flow problem could be used in the case of electrical network, where we are interested to know the amount of electricity on the edges of the network.

The problem of construction of parametric classes of fuzzy conjunction and disjunction operations suitable for efficient digital hardware implementation is studied. The set of digital generators that can be used in generation of digital fuzzy parametric conjunctions is proposed. These generators together with basic t-norms and t-conorms can be used to generate new digital fuzzy conjunctions with effective hardware implementation. A new method of generation of digital fuzzy parametric conjunctions is considered. An example of FPGA implementation of new fuzzy parametric conjunctions is done.
