In the area of high voltages and powers, the high quality inverter-fed ac drive is more easily achieved by the use of three-level inverters. For three-level inverters three different PWM control regions can be introduced where different three-phase PWM strategies may be applied. This paper deals with the analysis of that three-phase PWM method of three-level inverters which ensures the lowest value of motor harmonic losses. However, the realization of this PWM method is not so simple as the space vector PWM. At the same time in the low and middle voltage area the space vector PWM method gives bigger harmonic losses than the optimal PWM method. The motor voltage spectrum derivation for both the optimal version and the space vector PWMs are given and the results are checked by straight harmonic computations and by simulations

Medium access control (MAC) is an important part of wireless telecommunication systems. The main goal of a MAC protocol is to provide the best usage of the common resources for the users. One of these resources is typically the communication channel. By quantum informatics and computation - that gain more and more attention - some calculations and algorithms may become more efficient. The possible implementation of a quantum based system would lead us to great benefits, by applying it to an already existing problem. We give a model for medium access control via quantum methods

Many pulse oximeter types are available on the market but development of reflective pulse oximeters is still required by health care players. An approach to determine optimal conditions of such measurements by means of objective methods and a pilot experiment is described in this paper. The optimal distance between the light sources and the detector and the optimal force to press a reflective pulse oximeter sensor head onto the skin are characterisable by the presented method and experimental setup. The preferable values are probably between 0.5-2 g/mm 2 but the distance between the light sources and the detector shifts this value and changes the length of stabile region of performance as well, however, observed phenomena indicate, that pressure value alone is not enough to normalize results and compare pulse oximetry measuring heads having significant difference in size

Routing, TE & Resilience are gaining on their importance in heterogeneous networks. For testing network design and configuration tools, as well as for simulating routing algorithms and protocols in a realistic multi-domain reference environment a common reference network is necessary to estimate and compare the known and novel methods. Until now there have been three to five well known single domain reference networks. The most widely used one is the NSFnet the North-American academic network. The other two often used reference networks are the European COST 239 and the LION/COST 266 fictive Pan-European reference networks. Two national networks are also often used the Italian and the German one. However, all these networks consist of a single domain only. To our knowledge there is no reference network so far capable of taking into account the multi-domain and multi-provider character of modern networks. The aim of this paper is to fill this gap. We propose a non-hierarchical reference network (el-net-nh) and a hierarchical one (el-net-h) and compare them from the point of view of blocking ratio and path length distribution for two cases, namely, with no protection at all and with dedicated protection

The size decreison of passive components nowadays reaches 01005 dimension. For larger components also, but for these tiny components the accuracy of the component placement machines is a very important variable in respect of the placement quality. There are other variables that affect the placement quality (the quality of the solder paste, or the adhesive etc.), but I only studied the methods, that could improve the accuracy of the placement machines. It was a very important aspect that I use the method that is suggested in the standard: IPC-9850, but not to use expensive, special optical CMM (Calibrated Measuring Machine), and not to use expensive tester components (QFP, R, C, etc.) either.

The design of a wide tuning range voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) for integrated phase locked loop (PLL) is presented. The circuit was implemented on a 0.35um bicmos technology. The VCO had 36% tuning range together with good figure of merit. The paper shows the design methodology used to obtain small tuning gain variation in the whole frequency, temperature and process variation range. Some design details are shown together with measurement results.

This paper presents an online time scaling concept for robotic manipulators. The task is to ensure the fastest possible motion along a trajectory with a given geometry in the robot workspace. The other requirement is tracking accuracy. Robots should move not only with high speed but with high precision as well. The speed of the motion cannot be arbitrary fast. It is delimited by the saturation of the actuators and by some other (e.g. security) constraints. Offline time scaling solutions change the speed of the motion without changing its geometry, thus these constraints are not violated. If the exact torque bounds are not known in advance, another method should be used. This work gives an online time scaling algorithm which is based on the tracking error. Simulations demonstrate the usefulness of the algorithm proposed

Laser manufacturing has several advantages to traditional processes. It is non-contact manufacturing, flexible and controllable. Because of these advantages laser drilled microvias are commonly used in the microelectronics industry. However possibilities of laser ablation can be exploited in several other fields as well. These are: window opening for TAB IC, bending windows, ditches for microfluidics. The aforementioned applications require large processed area, controlled ablation depth and wall angle. The production of the so called bending window is a unique application of laser material processing. Bending windows can be used in flexible circuits to define the exact position of deformation. It is done by reducing the thickness of the flexible substrate in a well defined, narrow line. The effect of the material removal on the mechanical properties, such as tensile strength, flexibility, durability was investigated. Based on our experiences a new "multiple V" shaped bending window was developed from which longer lifetime and better mechanical properties are expected. Since lead-free soldering is initiated in the electronic industry in 1st of July 2006, studying the behaviour of lead-free solders in depth is more important than ever. Several studies and articles have claimed that lead-free solders do not promote the self-alignment of components, what is in contradiction with the observation of our previous experiments. Dynamic behaviour of SMT (surface mount technology) chip components during lead-free reflow soldering will be demonstrated, especially focusing on movement. A force model will be given whereby component self-alignment can be predicted in the case of using lead-free solder pastes. Experiments have been made by misplacing chip components with different sizes and the results are presented in the paper
