The article presents a telemanipulation system, in which the operator's movement is not transmitted to the slave site in a mechanical way by a real master device, but by image processing. The system on the master site uses cameras as sensors, subtracts the background from the images, and recognizes the skin color of the operator in real time. The 3D position of the operator's hand is determined by stereo vision and it becomes traceable by the color of the skin. This way the virtual master device comes to existence. The virtual master device does not have force-feedback, but it has a much larger freedom in movement than a joystick, its possibilities can be extended. This way in many cases it can be used more effectively than a simple force-feedback joystick

As double-fed induction wind generator the three-phase slip-ring induction machine is applied mainly. Tentatively brushless double-fed three-phase machines are also used. This paper describes the slip-ring version only. In the advanced version the rotor is supplied by frequency converter constructed from two identical voltage-source converters. Both should be current vector controlled. The line-side converter can provide approximately sinusoidal line current with unity power factor. The machine-side converter can be controlled to result in stator current with unity power factor, so the resultant line current is approximately sinusoidal with unity power factor. Therefore the advanced double-fed induction machine drives do not need additional reactive power compensation, moreover the resultant line current can be even capacitive. This paper deals with the stator flux field oriented rotor current vector control of the machine side converter. The possible implementations are overviewed and compared. One of them, the space vector PWM current vector control is investigated by simulation

Point-to-point and point-to-multipoint connections operating at high frequencies become increasing importance in the near future wireless communication systems. These systems are applied in feeder network for future cellular mobile communication system or BFWA (broadband fixed wireless access) networks. For accurate planning of the proposed microwave links the estimation of the CCDF (complement cumulative distribution function) of attenuation is highly important to achieve appropriate outage performance. In this work an N-state Markov chain model is investigated, which is used to generate attenuation time series influenced of those wireless links. With our proposed model very accurate realization of the physical fade process can be achieved. This work mainly focuses on the comparison of the generated and the measured attenuation time series, both the first and second order statistics of attenuation will be examined.

In this paper, we propose a conceptual model for tunable security services. The aim of the model is to provide a tool that can be used to describe and analyze such services in a structured and consistent way. The proposed model can thus serve as a basis to examine the possibilities available for constructing tunable security services based on current and future networking standards and to identify missing requirements. It can also be used to describe and compare previous research results. In the paper, four different use cases are presented that illustrates the powerfulness of the proposed model.

In this paper a 3D conduction model and its possible calculation methods are presented. Our 3D model is based on the thermal (central) node theory. It means that all elements of the circuit contain a central node, to which all of the thermal mass of that area of the assembly is assigned. The model can describe and compute the conduction effects and the thermal distribution during reflow soldering at the level of discrete components. Three calculation methods of the 3D conduction model (discrete calculation, half-continual calculation and continual calculation) were presented. The calculation methods were compared according to the computing time, the difficulty of the implementation and the accuracy limits. Finally a method (conduction orientation) was presented which can define the dominant direction of conduction in a system or in apart of the system. The ability of this method was also discussed

Capturing the meaning of Internet search queries can significantly improve the effectiveness of search retrieval. Users often face with the problem of finding the relevant answer on the result pages for their Internet search, particularly, when the posted query is ambiguous. The orientation of the user can be greatly facilitated, if answers are grouped into topics of a fixed subject taxonomy. In this manner, the original problem can be transformed to the labelling of queries - and consequently, the answers - with the topic names. This is clearly a categorization problem, i.e. it requires supervised machine learning. This paper introduces our approach, called Ferrety algorithm that performs topic assignment, which also works when there is no directly available training data that describes the semantics of the subject taxonomy. It is presented via the example of ACM KDD Cup 2005 problem, where Ferrety was awarded for precision and creativity

The multi-input multi-output (MIMO) antenna can give recently a promise in increasing the capacity of wireless radio systems. The theoretical capacity is mainly calculated in rich scattering environment and results low-correlation diversity channels. In our present paper the MIMO system is analysed in real indoor scenario and the system capacity is compared with the ideal 3D double bouncing stochastic scattering model.

Fade and interfade duration are important dynamic aspects of path attenuation corresponding to the time length during which a fixed threshold is exceeded by path attenuation or it is below the level. Precise estimation these dynamic parameters is essential to be taken into account in wireless communication system design for several reasons like calculating the system outage or unavailability period, sharing the system resource during the fading events, apply fade mitigation techniques, select the right coding scheme etc. In this paper we are presenting a digital model with N-state partitioned Markov chain for the joined statistical prediction of the fade and interfade duration. A new method introduced to derive the parameter set from the separate digital model of fade and interfade duration Markov models. The joint model applies the steady state probabilities to derive the joint state transition probabilities. The parameterization is based on a measurement of a high frequency terrestrial radio link. To achieve this goal, in the fading model parameterization process beside the fade events we take into account also the interfade periods, likewise in the interfade modelling. This allows a more precise description of the fading and non-fading process and leads to the possibility of the joint fade-interfade duration modelling.

A robust control design on frequency domain using Mathematica is presented for regularization of glucose level in type I diabetes persons under intensive care. The method originally proposed under Mathematica by Helton and Merino, now with an improved disturbance rejection constraint inequality - is employed, using a three-state minimal patient model. The robustness of the resulted high-order linear controller is demonstrated by nonlinear closed loop simulation in state-space, in case of standard meal disturbances and is compared with H infin design implemented with the mu-toolbox of Matlab. The controller designed with model parameters represented the most favorable plant dynamics from the point of view of control purposes, can operate properly even in case of parameter values of the worst-case scenario

In contrast to a plane-wave situation electromagnetic wave polarization is a 3-dimensional phenomenon in multipath scatter environments. Recently there is much research work done in order to utilize this fact in MIMO antennas. E.g. it is shown that with appropriate antenna arrangement increase in capacity can be as much as 4-fold or so in terrestrial rich scattering environments. In this paper satellite systems are investigated from this point of view. It is shown that it is hard to achieve an increase of capacity. However, diversity gain (or order of diversity) can be increased and in principle diversity gain of 6 or more is possible while this gain is at most 4 in the 2D (i.e. plane wave) case.
