Active Voltage Balancing of Series-connected Sic MOSFETs During Body-Diode Turn-Off Using an Active Gate Driver

The series connection of fast-switching Sic MOSFETs presents a promising approach to enhance the efficiency, compactness, and simplicity of Medium Voltage (MV) power converters. However, managing voltage imbalances during the turn-off of MOSFETs and their body diodes introduces significant challenges. While existing literature covers passive and active voltage balancing strategies for switch turn-off (e.g., MOSFETs/IGBTs), the issue of uneven voltage distribution during body diode turn-off remains largely unexplored. This gap limits the widespread adoption of series-connected devices in MV power converters, as achieving reliable performance with minimal additional components and low switching losses remains difficult. This article presents an Active Voltage Balancing technique for handling body diode turn-off events by regulating the gate charge of parallel MOSFETs during voltage rise transients in the closedloop using Active Gate Drivers (AGD). This approach ensures uniform voltage distribution among the body diodes of seriesconnected MOSFETs. A comprehensive analysis and modelling of gate charge control during voltage transients is presented. The proposed method is experimentally validated on two seriesconnected Sic MOSFETs operating in buck mode (Dc-Dc) and half-bridge inverter mode (Dc-Ac) at a 1.5 kV Dc bus voltage, with switching frequencies up to 40 kHz. © 1986-2012 IEEE.

Evolution of Internet of Things (IoT) has resulted in improved productivity and quality of life. But like any other technology, criminals are utilizing the vulnerabilities of these systems and exploiting them. In such cases, there is a need to collect forensic evidence from IoT systems that can be analyzed and then presented in court as evidence. The forensic investigation on these newer IoT systems is not supported by existing digital forensics tools and methods. Also, the variety of IoT platforms demands system-specific approaches. In this paper we are providing approaches to extract and analyze digital traces from vehicle tracking systems (VTS), which is an IoT ecosystem in transportation domain. Apart from the conventional uses of VTS systems, these systems create opportunities for extracting evidence that helps to investigate vehicle related incidents. This work includes the forensic data extraction and analysis of evidential artifacts from VTS IoT ecosystem. Also, a proof-of-concept tool, IoT Forensics Suite (IFS) which is developed as part of this research work is demonstrated. Water body extraction from satellite images helps us to study water resources. Due to constant changes in weather and increase of global warming, it is necessary to track changes in water resources to study their impact on environment. From agriculture to industries, water bodies play a significant role in production. Water bodies play vital role in keeping environmental balance. To study water bodies, acquiring high-resolution satellite images is an important step. But even after receiving high-resolution images, there are some issues which are faced during extraction of water bodies from images taken through satellite. One of the most difficult tasks to overcome is to distinguish between water bodies and its surroundings shadows which are casted on the water. Detection of narrow water bodies is also challenging. Studying water bodies helps us in detection of floods, drought detection, and resource study and also how these water bodies can be used for developing water transport. Apart from these advantages, studying water bodies can become useful in defense. Using detection, it is possible to extract water bodies which can become a water source, electricity generation source, or even a place around which the army can set up their camps. In this paper, various approaches are studied which are used for detecting images taken through satellite. The objective of this paper is to discuss the approaches, algorithms, and methodologies used for detection of water bodies from the images taken by satellite. Toeplitz Hashing is a class of functions in the 2-universal hash function family, that is widely adopted in quantum secure applications, particularly for the privacy amplification in quantum key distribution to generate secret keys, and as a strong randomness extractor for the quantum random number generators. In this work, we have investigated the preliminary implementation of Toepltiz hashing on processors, co-processors, and system-on-chip (Soc). We have implemented the fast-Fourier transform (FFT)-based Toepltiz hashing on Intel Xeon cascade-lake 8268 processor and NVIDIA Tesla V100 GPU compute hardware. We have also implemented the binary multiplication-based Toeplitz hashing on the AMD Xilinx ZcU102 FPGA evaluation kit. Further, we present an example of heterogenous computing, by combining an Intel core i7 cPU with the VEGA ET1031-based Aries v2.0 development board. Finally, we report, for the first time, an implementation of convolution of two matrices on an indigenously designed RISc-V VEGA Soc. Further, we have compared the implementation results following two approaches, i.e. normal matrix multiplication and the number theoretic transform (NTT) method. We report that there is a tenfold reduction in the computational time using the NTT method over the conventional method. © 2024 IEEE.

E-Learning platforms became very common and popular nowadays. It also so frequent that some of the learners enrolled may not complete the course within the specified time. There comes a necessity to increase course completion rate where the E-learning environment should be improved to boost the learning attitude of the learners by monitoring the learner’s attitude. The learners should be grouped based on similarity of their learning characteristics. A clustering and ranking system is created as a REST API (Representational State Transfer Application Programming Interface) service. This is integrated to an E-Learning solution. The service can take the preprocessed data of learner activity information as input and, next by using K-Prototypes clustering algorithm group or cluster all learners by their learning attitude based on the features, then give the category of learner attitude as response. Each data object is also ranked according to the closeness to the centroid within each cluster. The response generated by the service is taken by the E-Learning system, can now not only can identify the group of learners and but also each individual learner by their learning attitude thus involve in motivational activity. A scheduler is implemented to request the clustering and ranking API with data from E-Learning system at designated times. Using it the learner status at that instant can be obtained by the E-Learning system.

In this research, we propose to recognize scanned line images of printed text in 11 Indian languages using cMViT, a single visual model created by merging convMixer with modified attention in Vision Transformer (SVTR). Recognizing the Indian language is challenging due to many reasons like cursive, making new shapes after joining in case of syllables, etc. There is also a similarity in some characters in Indian language scripts. Optical character Recognition (OcR) is the science of recognizing and converting printed line images into analyzable, editable, and searchable forms. OcR has many use cases related to text extraction from scanned documents, handwritten documents, and scene text images. The research has been going on for the last decade by using artificial intelligence/machine learning tools to automatically analyze printed documents by converting them to editable digital text. Initially, AI-based OcR development started from RNN, LSTM, BiLSTM, and encoder-decoder architecture. The OcR is developed for 11 Indian languages named Bangla, Gujarati, Gurumukhi, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, and 2 bilinguals named Hindi-English, and Marathi-English. The OcR cER for each language is in the range of 0.15% to 1.95% using the proposed network.

In this paper, we've developed an analog neuromor-phic circuit based on Adaptive Leaky-Integrate & Fire (LIF) model, using ScL's 180nm cMOS technology. The utilization of the LIF model is chosen for its efficiency, requiring a minimal number of transistors for spike generation. We have also eval-uated the circuit's performance by testing it with diverse input waveforms, encompassing step, pulse, sinusoidal, and sawtooth inputs, conducted for both pre-layout and post-layout. The design is compact by eliminating the traditional usage of a comparator in the LIF model, achieves a maximum energy of 1.4pJ/spike, spike rate of 8.8MHz and an overall area of $198.5\mu \mathrm{m}^{2}$ .

In this paper, we propose script identification of Indian language document images using MobileNetV3. Script identification at the page level is an essential task for Optical character Recognition (OcR). OcR is a time-consuming task with a lot of computation required. To make an accurate, fast, and efficient script identification module, we have employed MobileNetV3, a mobile and cPU-friendly convolutional Neural Network (cNN) algorithm. MobileNetV3 results are comparable to ResNet50 on the ImageNet dataset. The methodology addresses challenges in real-world scenarios, enhancing robustness. The paper demonstrates the classification of six Indian scripts (Bangla, Gurumukhi, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, and Tamil) and English. Four experiments have been performed. The first experiment uses MobileNetV3 with center loss (cL) and without skew detection (no angle). The second experiment uses MobileNetV3 without cL and skew detection (no angle). The third experiment is done by modifying MobileNetV3 with cL and without skew. The fourth experiment uses MobileNetV3 with cL and skew angle detection (range −10 to 10 degrees). The accuracy of the fourth experiment is 96% with skew detection. The best experiment is the first, which uses cL and cross-entropy loss and achieves an impressive accuracy of 98%.

In the realm of modern drone communication, where the exchange of sensitive data is ubiquitous, the assur-ance of authentication, confidentiality and integrity stands as paramount. This research paper delves into the application of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) as a robust cryptographic frame-work to fortify the communication channels utilized by drones. Through a comprehensive exploration of PKI's mechanisms, this paper elucidates its role in ensuring the confidentiality of trans-mitted data through encryption and the preservation of integrity via digital certificates and authentication processes. Drawing upon theoretical foundations and practical implementations, this paper underscores the critical importance of PKI in safeguarding drone communication against eavesdropping, tampering, and unauthorized access. Furthermore, it examines contemporary challenges and emerging trends in PKI integration within drone networks, offering insights into potential avenues for future research and development. Drones are now essential instruments in several fields, such as emergency response, surveillance, and agriculture. Nonetheless, protecting drone communication from manipulation, illegal access, and data breaches is crucial. In addition to PKI, this paper explores the specific roles of certificate pinning and key pinning in enhancing drone communication security. Both techniques serve to further solidify the trust and authenticity of the communication endpoints, providing additional layers of protection. The purpose of this paper is to examine how PKI protects the authentication, integrity, and confidentiality of drone communications. The significance of PKI in strengthening the security posture of drone systems is emphasized by this research through an extensive examination of the body of literature and an analysis of PKI deployment options.

cryptography algorithms play an essential role in technology for protecting against the many threats seen in the digital world. Many research techniques have been conducted to tackle IoT device security. Traditional techniques are typically identified by their high-level computational complexity of cryptographic algorithms. On the other hand, lightweight algorithms solve most security challenges when using standard cryptographic techniques in constrained devices. This paper discusses lightweight cryptographic techniques for Internet of Things (IoT) devices and provides a complete overview of the security mechanisms ranging from lightweight cryptographic solutions to IoT devices, analyzing implementation of embedded software and hardware technologies, as well as contemporary methods for IoT device security. advanced Encryption Standard (AES) and Speck cryptographic algorithms implementation on IoT devices are discussed thoroughly for providing device security. Results validate that AES and SPEcK are consuming less memory compared to traditional algorithms in resource constrained environment.
