Road accidents claim numerous lives annually, with drowsiness identified as a primary catalyst for a substantial portion of these incidents. This study addresses this critical issue by introducing an innovative approach to gauge human drowsiness levels during driving. The primary objective of this study is to introduce a novel deep-learning technique capable of detecting various alertness levels—awake, drowsy, and very sleepy—while driving. For this purpose, a hybrid model is proposed, leveraging convolutional Neural Networks (cNN) in conjunction with an Attention-based Quantum Long Short-Term Memory (QLSTM) network. The designed model employs different biopotential signals, including electroencephalogram (EEG), facial electromyography (EMG), pulse rate, and head movement, to discern a person’s alertness level. Demonstrating remarkable accuracy, the proposed model achieves detection rates of 99%, 98.5%, and 99% for awake, drowsy, and very sleepy states, respectively, thus offering a promising solution to mitigate the impact of drowsiness-related accidents.

In recent years, mobile applications have become increasingly important. These applications differ significantly from desktop and web applications, and being used increasingly in various enterprise domains. Accordingly, this motivates the mobile industries to increase the accessibility of mobile applications and their development across many platforms, including Android and iPhone. This research work discusses the security testing procedure and features of India's first indigenous AppStore “mSeva AppStore”. To ensure the quality of the hosted mobile applications, distinct techniques, and effective testing approaches are required. Before hosting the application on mSeva AppStore regressive testing is performed in all aspects like insecure permissions, data storage, secure logic, proper platform algorithms, etc. However, in the current mobile application testing scenario, other AppStore does not consider all factors before hosting the applications, which is quite necessary. This study highlights the key terminologies of mobile application testing and quality parameters. Further, demonstrates the actual results that are obtained during the security testing of various applications. Along with this, the first-ever common Weakness Enumeration (cWE) based classification regarding common artifacts in mobile application testing is provided. The peculiarities discussed with respect to mobile applications and the testing requirements in the context of secure hosting will help the relevant researcher and stakeholders in this field.

Dataspace systems cope with the problem of integrating a variety of data based on its structures and semantics such as structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data, and returns the best-effort or approximate answers to their users. The existing works on query answering from a dataspace system are content-based and paid attention to return the best answers to the users without taking care of their preferences. This paper aims to consider not only the content-based information but also the users’ preferences while answering the users’ queries. Therefore, we present a framework, known as collaborative Query-Answering Framework for a Research Article Dataspace, to answer the users’ queries in efficient manner and returns more prominent answers to the users. In this work, we present a collaborative approach that adopts the advantages of the existing content-based and users’ preferences-based approaches. To achieve the objectives, we use the Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers model to represent our dataspace and users’ query. We have validated our proposed approach on the research papers dataset available on Kaggle. Network traffic classification is crucial for traffic monitoring and application-based policy enforcement. However, the widespread use of encrypted protocols has greatly challenged conventional traffic classification techniques using packet payload and port numbers. For the network application in this paper, two machine learning algorithms, Decision Tree (DT) and Random Forest (RF) are used. An open-access Kaggle dataset with six different types of applications is used for this study. To achieve the best values for model training, loop iteration is used rather than the hyper-parameter optimization technique. When compared to DT, RF has the highest accuracy (99.72%). In order to improve the classification process and various hidden patterns connected with the statistical features, more statistical features were taken into account in comparison to other related works that had already been done. The outcomes demonstrate the potency of supervised learning algorithms for categorizing network traffic.

Industrial automation is undergoing a tremendous change due to the proliferation of the concepts, the Internet of Things (IoT), cyber-Physical Systems (cPS) and tactile internet, which enables the interconnections of factory floor devices and enterprise network on a wider and fine-grained scale. Vision Sensor deployments are getting great momentum in factories, as it improves the quality and productivity of the systems being inspected. Smart Vision Sensors[1] removes the need of the additional infrastructures for running the image processing algorithms and vision applications, by directly running the vision logic on the device and control/monitor the various parameters on the field based on the image processing outputs. Industrial vision sensor (IVIS) is an industrial smart camera, which has a cMOS image sensor[2] and a powerful on-board processing system capable of supporting machine vision applications, for improving the product and process qualities and thereby improve the yield and profit. IVIS is capable of extracting application-specific information from the captured images and make decisions based on the image processing algorithms implemented on the system, to realize stand-alone intelligent and decision-making automation system. In this paper we present the design and development of IVIS, its application domains and preliminary test results.

Blockchain technology is significant because it makes data sharing between several parties safe, transparent, and effective. Multi-step transactions that require verification and traceability can benefit from Blockchain technology. However, the Blockchain technology too comes with its own vulnerabilities and often Blockchain networks are attacked by attacks like 51% Attack, Eclipse Attack, Sybil Attack, Time jacking Attack, Selfish Mining Attack, Finney Attack, Race Attack and so on. One among those attacks is the Sybil attacks, which are a big threat to the integrity of Blockchain networks since they assist malicious actors to create several identities, potentially overwhelming the system and defeating the very principle of consensus mechanisms. In this paper, we have captured an approach on designing a multi-layered mechanism for identifying Sybil attacks with the integration of behavioral analysis, Blockchain analysis techniques, Zero-Knowledge Proofs (ZKPs), and a robust security architecture for governance and validator selection. The broad idea is to cancel pseudo-anonymity in the Blockchain systems by detecting behavioral patterns, identifying exchange wallets, and mapping inter-wallet relationships. Integration of these approaches with ZKPs assists in improving identity verification while simultaneously maintaining user anonymity. The proposed architecture for security uses community-based governance and adaptive validator selection processes to strengthen the defense against Sybil attacks. Token concentration analysis traces down the distribution of stakes within the network in order to find potential risks due to centralization. Our findings thus conclude that integration of the security framework along with behavior analysis and ZKPs effectively reduces the proliferation of fraudulent identities in the Blockchain networks.

Twitter is one of the major social networking platforms used by millions of users every day. On every second, around 6000 tweets are sent through Twitter. The forensic analysis of Twitter application is of utmost importance to crime investigators as it can contain a rich set of evidential artefacts. The physical acquisition of Android devices can unveil the forensic artefacts stored in the Twitter application database, but only the most recent tweets and messages. This paper introduces a new methodology to forensically extract Twitter cloud data using the access tokens present in Android devices. The tokens enable investigators to get authenticated access to Twitter cloud servers and further access to the entire data using Twitter APIs. The response data is encoded in JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) format, which is further analyzed to identify the attributes of each tweet object.

The cellphones utilize SQLite to store communication as well as other data records. It is a type of small database software that is commonly found in embedded systems and application softwares. In recent years, there has been an increase in the availability of portable devices like smartphones, contributing to the expanding adoption of SQLite. This indicates that the probability of finding SQLite database files in digital evidences is very high. The forensic investigators could get treasures of evidential artifacts from the SQLite database file. This paper explores the SQLite database format and structure of lost data from an Android phone and proposes a novel methodology for recovering deleted data from unallocated space, freelist and freeblocks in SQLite database files. The proposed methodology is found very effective for recovering deleted data from SQLite database files.

Multisource energy harvesting (MEH) and efficiently combining the harvested energies is essential for self-powered devices which is a technical challenge as well. Designing an efficient energy combiner is not trivial. Various factors viz. harvestable energy level from the sources and energy range, sources scheduling algorithms for combiner, electrical characteristics of sources (low current and high voltage, high current and low voltage, capacitive, inductive etc.), impedance matching of sources, sources switching and control/trigger circuit losses, power conversion and management etc. influence harvester's and combiner's efficiency. considering that, this article presents a SPIcE modelling and simulation framework for analyzing MEH and combiner topologies viz. Inductor sharing, voltage level detection and powerORing for its power and energy flow characteristics, regulation, and energy efficiency. Such analysis enables arriving an efficient combiner architecture based on harvestable resources, sources models, power management circuits schemes etc. It has been observed that voltage level detection technique with Dc-Dc converters for each source results highest efficiency as compared with other topologies for three sources scenario.

In this paper, a novel voltage amplifier scheme for interfacing piezoelectric sensors is presented. This scheme is insensitive to cable parasitic capacitance. The scheme is beneficial for improving the sensitivity performance of high piezoelectric voltage constant (piezopolymer) piezo-sensor based applications involving long cables between piezo-sensor and electronics. Piezopolymer based sensors (e.g., PVDF) have high voltage sensitivity compared to charge sensitivity, which results in improved sensitivity performance if a voltage amplifier is used for interfacing these sensors. In many PVDF sensor-based applications involving long cables between sensor and electronics, charge amplifier is being used at present to avoid signal loading due to cable parasitic capacitance. Due to the poor charge sensitivity of piezopolymer-based piezo-sensors, the use of charge amplifiers for interfacing them results in a loss of sensitivity. Hence, a voltage amplifier scheme insensitive to cable parasitic capacitance would improve the sensitivity performance of piezopolymer based piezo-sensor applications involving long cables. The proposed voltage amplifier scheme is insensitive to cable parasitic capacitance for interfacing piezoelectric sensors. The proposed scheme has been simulated using LTspice, and a prototype of the enhanced voltage amplifier, charge amplifier, and voltage amplifier has been implemented. The performance has been evaluated in the presence of cable parasitic capacitance. The simulation and hardware evaluation results showed that the proposed voltage amplifier scheme is insensitive to cable parasitic capacitance. When a cable with a 10000 pF is used to connect a piezo-sensor (Airmar, AT50), the sensor loading is improved by 3.15dB in comparison with normal voltage amplifier.
