The violation of a Bell inequality implies the existence of nonlocality, making device-independent randomness certification possible. This paper derives a tight upper bound for the maximal quantum violation of Gisin’s elegant Bell inequality (EBI) for arbitrary two-qubit states, along with the constraints required to achieve this bound. This method provides the necessary and sufficient conditions for violating the EBI for several quantum states, including pure two-qubit states and the Werner states. The lower bound of certifiable global randomness is analyzed based on the tight upper bound of the EBI for pure two-qubit states, with a comparison to the Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt (CHSH) inequality. The relationship between the noise level and the lower bound of certifiable global randomness with respect to the Werner states is also explored, and the comparisons with both the CHSH inequality and the chained inequality are given. The results indicate that when the state approaches a maximally entangled state within specific quantified ranges, the EBI demonstrates advantages over both the CHSH inequality and the chained inequality, potentially enhancing practical device-independent randomness generation rates. Hard Negatives or False Negatives: Correcting Pooling Bias in Training Neural Ranking Models

Neural ranking models (NRMs) have become one of the most important techniques in information retrieval (IR). Due to the limitation of relevance labels, the training of NRMs heavily relies on negative sampling over unlabeled data. In general machine learning scenarios, it has shown that training with hard negatives (i.e., samples that are close to positives) could lead to better performance. Surprisingly, we find opposite results from our empirical studies in IR. When sampling top-ranked results (excluding the labeled positives) as negatives from a stronger retriever, the performance of the learned NRM becomes even worse. Based on our investigation, the superficial reason is that there are more false negatives (i.e., unlabeled positives) in the top-ranked results with a stronger retriever, which may hurt the training process;The root is the existence of pooling bias in the dataset constructing process, where annotators only judge and label very few samples selected by some basic retrievers. Therefore, in principle, we can formulate the false negative issue in training NRMs as learning from labeled datasets with pooling bias. To solve this problem, we propose a novel Coupled Estimation Technique (CET) that learns both a relevance model and a selection model simultaneously to correct the pooling bias for training NRMs. Empirical results on three retrieval benchmarks show that NRMs trained with our technique can achieve significant gains on ranking effectiveness against other baseline strategies. © 2022, CC0.

Topic drift is a common phenomenon in multi-turn dialogue. Therefore, an ideal dialogue generation models should be able to capture the topic information of each context, detect the relevant context, and produce appropriate responses accordingly. However, existing models usually use word or sentence level similarities to detect the relevant contexts, which fail to well capture the topical level relevance. In this paper, we propose a new model, named STAR-BTM, to tackle this problem. Firstly, the Biterm Topic Model is pre-trained on the whole training dataset. Then, the topic level attention weights are computed based on the topic representation of each context. Finally, the attention weights and the topic distribution are utilized in the decoding process to generate the corresponding responses. Experimental results on both Chinese customer services data and English Ubuntu dialogue data show that STAR-BTM significantly outperforms several state-of-the-art methods, in terms of both metric-based and human evaluations. © 2020 Inst. In recent years, against the backdrop of smart grids, vehicle-to-grid (V2G) interaction has become a hot topic. With the increasing number of new energy vehicles, handling massive amounts of electricity transaction data has become an urgent problem in need of resolution. Ensuring the security of the vast quantities of electricity transaction data has emerged as a significant challenge. Therefore, two data aggregation schemes are proposed in this paper, both supporting batch verification and privacy protection in centralized and distributed scenarios, respectively. Firstly, an improved Paillier cryptosystem is utilized to achieve lightweight encryption in the proposed schemes. In addition, a novel distributed data aggregation structure that combines a large number of geographically distributed fog nodes with centralized cloud servers is introduced. This structure not only meets the requirements of lightweight encryption and resistance against single point failures but also reduces the communication complexity of distributed data aggregation to O(n). According to the security proofs and experimental analysis, it can be demonstrated that both proposed schemes are effective and secure, meeting the lightweight requirements of modern smart grid systems. © 2025 IEEE. LEGNN: A Label Ensemble Perspective for Training a Label-Noise-Resistant GNN with Reduced Complexity

Graph Neural networks (GNNs) have been widely employed for semi-supervised node classification tasks on graphs. However, the performance of GNNs is significantly affected by label noise, that is, a small amount of incorrectly labeled nodes can substantially misguide model training. Mainstream solutions define node classification with label noise (NCLN) as a reliable labeling task, often introducing node similarity with quadratic computational complexity to more accurately assess label reliability. To this end, in this paper, we introduce the Label Ensemble Graph Neural network (LEGNN), a lower complexity method for robust GNNs training against label noise. LEGNN reframes NCLN as a label ensemble task, gathering informative multiple labels instead of constructing a single reliable label, avoiding high-complexity computations for reliability assessment. Specifically, LEGNN conducts a two-step process: bootstrapping neighboring contexts and robust learning with gathered multiple labels. In the former step, we apply random neighbor masks for each node and gather the predicted labels as a high-probability label set. This mitigates the impact of inaccurately labeled neighbors and diversifies the label set. In the latter step, we utilize a partial label learning based strategy to aggregate the high-probability label information for model training. Additionally, we symmetrically gather a low-probability label set to counteract potential noise from the bootstrapped high-probability label set. Extensive experiments on six datasets demonstrate that LEGNN achieves outstanding performance while ensuring efficiency. Sequential Recommender Systems (SRS), leveraging the temporal information from users' behaviors, have noticeably improved user experience against traditional systems. However, these behaviors often follow long-tail distribution, making the systems biased towards popular items (i.e., popularity bias). Moreover, popularity bias would amplify the neglect of long-tail recommendations, thereby sharpening the long-tail problem. Previous researches usually address these challenges independently, focusing on reducing the over-recommendation of popular items or enhancing the representation quality of tail items. Indeed, it is possible to incorporate their merits to achieve the best of both worlds. Thus, we propose a novel and unified framework, named Collaborative Solution to Long tailed problem and Popularity bias (CSLP), to tackle both the long-tail problem and popularity bias simultaneously. To achieve this, we first introduce a representation enhancement module featuring dual generators to enhance user and item representations, particularly for those in the tail. On the other hand, a debiasing module incorporating an Inverse Propensity Score (IPS) with a clipping strategy is introduced to further alleviate the popularity bias. Specifically, this clipping strategy demonstrates a clear decrease in the original IPS method's variance, effectively improving the recommendation for stability and accuracy. Experiments on three widely-used datasets show CSLP's effectiveness in solving both issues. CSLP surpasses all baselines (traditional, popularity bias, and long-tail problem) in overall performance, significantly enhancing recommendation accuracy for both tail users and items, and achieving a more balanced ratio of recommendations between popular and tail items. Due to the exceptional performance of Transform-ers in 2 $D$ medical image segmentation, recent work has also introduced them into 3D medical segmentation tasks. For instance, Swin UNETR and other hierarchical Transformers have reintroduced prior knowledge from several convolutional networks, further enhancing the volume segmentation capabilities of models. The efficacy of these hybrid methodologies is primarily attributed to the substantial quantity of parameters and the nonlocal self-attention mechanism with a large receptive field. We argue that the behavior of these methods' large receptive fields can be simulated by employing fewer parameters through the utilization of depth-wise convolutions with large kernel. Within this manuscript, we introduce a lightweight volume segmentation model called MedX-Net, which uses convolutional network modules to simulate hierarchical Transformers for robust volume segmentation. Firstly, inspired by the hierarchical Transformer module of Swin UNETR, we investigate large-kernel depth-wise convolutions with different sizes to achieve a reduced model parameter count while maintaining a large global receptive field. Secondly, we replace the multilayer perceptron (MLP) in the hierarchical Transformer module with Inverted Bottleneck with Depthwise Convolution Enhancement(DWCE) to improve model performance with fewer activation and normalization layers, further reducing the parameter count. We validate the effectiveness and efficiency of our model for volume segmentation on three public datasets: Synapse, BTCV and ACDC. On the Synapse dataset, compared to Swin UNETR, our model achieves an improvement from 83.48% to 87.21% in Dice score. Compared to the result of 86.57% achieved by nnFormer, our model achieves superior performance while reducing the model parameter count by 64%.

The objective of sequential recommendation is to predict user preferences for items based on historical interaction sequences. This process often leads to a phenomenon known as popularity bias, where popular items are excessively recommended. Conformity, the tendency of users to follow popular items, is a significant factor contributing to this issue. Previous methods have not adequately disentangled conformity and interest, failing to accurately model users’ true intent. To address this, we propose a novel Disentangled Interest and Conformity Sequential Recommendation method (DICSRec) to mitigate the popularity bias. Specifically, we first design an Intent Encoding Module (IEM), which includes two independent encoders for conformity and interest to model their representations. To better disentangle these two factors, we design a disentangling task with proxy-based self-supervised learning and orthogonal regularization. Furthermore, to provide the Intent Encoding Module with more global information, we design a Global Conformity-aware Module (GCM), which supplies item popularity information and aids in enhancing user conformity representation. Lastly, recognizing the varying significance of user conformity and interest, we propose an adaptive Fusion Prediction Module (FPM) that adaptively aggregates user conformity and interest representations for final prediction. Experiments on four real-world datasets consistently demonstrate the superiority of our method over advanced sequential recommendation models. Personalized news recommendation is the process of predicting the relevance of news to users and recommending news to user to fulfill their information needs. However, existing news recommendation methods extract semantic information from users and candidate news respectively, ignoring semantic interaction information between users and candidate news. Furthermore, previous models only use same node types for message passing, ignoring different characteristics and topology between different node types. In addition, existing methods learn news representations through text representations, ignoring semantic correlation information between entity relationships and texts. To solve these problems, we propose a personalized news recommendation model named CoHG. In our model, we design a collaborative fusion module to obtain semantic interaction information through interacting user history news with candidate news. Furthermore, we design a heterogeneous gated graph neural network that maps different node types into a same space to extract higher-order information in user graphs for message passing. Moreover, we design an enhanced relevant attention module to enhance semantic correlation information of text content by aggregating text representation and entity representation into a unified representation. Finally, we conducted experiments on MIND and Adressa datasets to compare with other baseline models.

Document-level entity relation extraction is an important task in the field of natural language processing, which plays an important role in semantic understanding and knowledge graph construction. However, existing deep neural networks and graph neural networks models are limited by their performance and parameters number, which can not capture global semantics and have poor generalization ability. Furthermore, existing methods employing large language model for entity relation extraction do not establish good relationships among multi-tasks of entity relation extraction task, resulting in more information can not be effectively shared and transmitted between tasks. In addition, previous approaches can not effectively eliminate false entities and relationships. To solve these problems, we propose an entity relation extraction framework based on large language model and multi-tasks iterative prompt engineering. In our model, we design an iterative prompt engineering, which can better establish the relationship among multi-tasks, and ensure every task to obtain the optimal results. Moreover, we design semantic merging, group disambiguation and self-verification modules to eliminate the false entity relations and noise nodes. Additionally, we design summary prompts to provide sufficient global semantics for better text segmentation. Finally, we evaluated our model on wikiann, wikineural, ACE2005, CoNLL2003, CoNLL2004, and SciERC datasets and compared it with other baseline models.
