Similar question retrieval is a core task in community-based question answering (CQA) services. To balance the effectiveness and efficiency, the question retrieval system is typically implemented as multi-stage rankers: The first-stage ranker aims to recall potentially relevant questions from a large repository, and the latter stages attempt to re-rank the retrieved results. Most existing works on question retrieval mainly focused on the re-ranking stages, leaving the first-stage ranker to some traditional term-based methods. However, term-based methods often suffer from the vocabulary mismatch problem, especially on short texts, which may block the re-rankers from relevant questions at the very beginning. An alternative is to employ embedding-based methods for the first-stage ranker, which compress texts into dense vectors to enhance the semantic matching. However, these methods often lose the discriminative power as term-based methods, thus introduce noise during retrieval and hurt the recall performance. In this work, we aim to tackle the dilemma of the first-stage ranker, and propose a discriminative semantic ranker, namely DenseTrans, for high-recall retrieval. Specifically, DenseTrans is a densely connected Transformer, which learns semantic embeddings for texts based on Transformer layers. Meanwhile, DenseTrans promotes low-level features through dense connections to keep the discriminative power of the learned representations. DenseTrans is inspired by DenseNet in computer vision (CV), but poses a new way to use the dense connectivity which is totally different from its original design purpose. Experimental results over two question retrieval benchmark datasets show that our model can obtain significant gain on recall against strong term-based methods as well as state-of-the-art embedding-based methods. © 2021 ACM.

In view of the traditional intrusion prevention system is connected in series mode in the network,the ability of dealing with the intrusion is limited,and it will cause network congestion easily,especially in the cloud computer *** at the problems mentioned above,a scheme for the cloud platform intrusion prevention is proposed in the paper,based on the construction of the software defined *** using the programmable feature of the SDN,the IPS in the scheme will transmit the intrusion information to the controller,when the intrusion detection system detects *** the controller will send security policy to virtual switch,so that it can filter the intrusion traffic and achieve the purpose of blocking intrusion behavior dynamically.A comparative analysis between the proposed scheme and transitional IPS is made through the experiment,the result shows that the efficiency of the intrusion detection in the new scheme can be improved by two times compared with the traditional intrusion prevention ***,it has certain reference significance for the deployment of intrusion prevention scheme in cloud environment.

Temporal Knowledge Graph Question Answering: A Survey

Knowledge Base Question Answering (KBQA) has been a long-standing field to answer questions based on knowledge bases. Recently, the evolving dynamics of knowledge have attracted a growing interest in Temporal Knowledge Graph Question Answering (TKGQA), an emerging task to answer temporal questions. However, this field grapples with ambiguities in defining temporal questions and lacks a systematic categorization of existing methods for TKGQA. In response, this paper provides a thorough survey from two perspectives: the taxonomy of temporal questions and the methodological categorization for TKGQA. Specifically, we first establish a detailed taxonomy of temporal questions engaged in prior studies. Subsequently, we provide a comprehensive review of TKGQA techniques of two categories: semantic parsing-based and TKG embedding-based. Building on this review, the paper outlines potential research directions aimed at advancing the field of TKGQA. This work aims to serve as a comprehensive reference for TKGQA and to stimulate further research. © 2024, CC BY.

Tumor type classification and candidate cancer-specific biomarkers discovery via semi-supervised learning

Identifying cancer-related differentially expressed genes provides significant information for diagnosing tumors, predicting prognoses, and effective treatments. Recently, deep learning methods have been used to perform gene differential expression analysis using microarray-based high-throughput gene profiling and have achieved good results. In this study, we proposed a new robust multiple-datasetsbased semi-supervised learning model, MSSL, to perform tumor type classification and candidate cancer-specific biomarkers discovery across multiple tumor types and multiple datasets, which addressed the following long-lasting obstacles:(1) the data volume of the existing single dataset is not enough to fully exert the advantages of deep learning;(2) a large number of datasets from different research institutions cannot be effectively used due to inconsistent internal variances and low quality;(3) relatively uncommon cancers have limited effects on deep learning methods. In our article, we applied MSSL to The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA) and the Gene Expression Comprehensive database(GEO) pan-cancer normalized-level3 RNA-seq data and got 97.6% final classification accuracy, which had a significant performance leap compared with previous approaches. Finally, we got the ranking of the importance of the corresponding genes for each cancer type based on classification results and validated that the top genes selected in this way were biologically meaningful for corresponding tumors and some of them had been used as biomarkers, which showed the efficacy of our method.

Software-defined radar has been an active research field for more than ten years. However, the low performance and low scalability of the traditional processing techniques of SDR make it hard to deal with complex radar tasks. The stream processing engine is a software that supports low latency and high scalability distributed data processing. It is widely used in log, image, and video processing scenarios but rarely used in radar applications. This paper reviews processing software-defined radar data by using the stream processing engine, and we illustrate the differences between processing log data and radar data. Furthermore, we discuss some optimizations for stream processing engines to get better performance in the radar data processing. © 2021 IEEE.

KnowCoder: Coding Structured Knowledge into LLMs for Universal Information Extraction

In this paper, we propose KnowCoder, a Large Language Model (LLM) to conduct Universal Information Extraction (UIE) via code generation. KnowCoder aims to develop a kind of unified schema representation that LLMs can easily understand and an effective learning framework that encourages LLMs to follow schemas and extract structured knowledge accurately. To achieve these, KnowCoder introduces a code-style schema representation method to uniformly transform different schemas into Python classes, with which complex schema information, such as constraints among tasks in UIE, can be captured in an LLM-friendly manner. We further construct a code-style schema library covering over 30,000 types of knowledge, which is the largest one for UIE, to the best of our knowledge. To ease the learning process of LLMs, KnowCoder contains a two-phase learning framework that enhances its schema understanding ability via code pretraining and its schema following ability via instruction tuning. After code pretraining on around 1.5B automatically constructed data, KnowCoder already attains remarkable generalization ability and achieves relative improvements by 49.8% F1, compared to LLaMA2, under the few-shot setting. After instruction tuning, KnowCoder further exhibits strong generalization ability on unseen schemas and achieves up to 12.5% and 21.9%, compared to sota baselines, under the zero-shot setting and the low resource setting, respectively. Additionally, based on our unified schema representations, various human-annotated datasets can simultaneously be utilized to refine KnowCoder, which achieves significant improvements up to 7.5% under the supervised setting.
