This paper addresses the problem of multi-probe anechoic chamber (MPAC) configuration for over-the-air (OTA) radiated testing in fifth-generation (5G) multi-input multi-output (MIMO) communication systems. In this case, to construct a larger test area and reproduce the target channel model more accurately, the number of channel emulators and probes used in the test system is increasing, which results in a significant increase in the cost of the test system. To solve this problem, we first propose a novel two-dimensional (2D) sectorized MPAC configuration with uniform spacing of probes for accurately synthesizing clustered delay line (CDL) channel models. Then, we introduce an intelligent cuckoo search (CS) algorithm to optimize the selection of probe positions, which can significantly enhance the efficiency and accuracy of probe selection procedure. Specifically, the optimal OTA probe locations are determined within the sector width in 2D sectorized MPAC setups we proposed. Finally, numerical results show that our proposed flexible sectorized MPAC configuration with CS algorithm can emulate channels more accurately with fewer probes.

In order to solve the problems of existing threat assessment algorithms, a threat assessment method based on intuitionistic fuzzy three-way decision method is proposed. Firstly, the indexes are described by theory of intuitionistic fuzzy sets on the basis of that the threat assessment index system is established. Then, TOPSIS method is used to calculate the target threat. Finally, the targets are classified by three-way decision method according to the result of target threat. It is proved that it is feasible to introduce three-way decision method into threat assessment. At the same time, an improved algorithm for calculating the threshold of three-way decision is proposed. Experiments show that the improved algorithm has stable results and good classification effect. © 2020 Institution of Engineering and technology. All rights reserved.

Aiming at the problem of strong subjectivity and insufficient data utilisation in the traditional ship formation combat effectiveness analysis method, this study proposes a performance analysis fitting model based on deep belief network (DBN), which effectively reconstructs the combat model and improves the accuracy of the effectiveness analysis of the combat system. Firstly, the ship formation air defence effectiveness analysis index system is constructed, and then the structure and training method of the performance analysis fitting model are introduced. Finally, based on the formation of air defence combat, the performance analysis fitting model based on DBN and its comparative experiments are simulated and analysed. Simulation results verify the applicability and effectiveness of the model and method. © 2020 Institution of Engineering and technology. All rights reserved.

To improve the revenue of dairy farms, cow estrus must be accurately monitored to track mating time. Narrow Band Internet of Things (NB-IoT) is considered as a promising technology to realize cost-effective detection system attributing to its wide coverage and low power consumption. To increase the success rate of real-time detection, machine learning based algorithms have been applied to extract patterns from estrus data. However, due to the lack of multivariate time series data, most previous studies do not consider using the time correlation to guide estrus detection. In this paper, we present a NB-IoT based solution framework where multivariate behavioral time series data collected by neck-mounted sensors and then uploaded to a cloud data center for further analysis through NB-IoT network. Based on the collected data, we propose an estrus prediction algorithm which gives estrus alert by exploiting Long-Short Term Memory (LSTM) and Convolution Neural Network (CNN). Through numerical studies conducted using real data set from the pasture, we show that our proposed solution outperforms exiting detection algorithms in terms of accuracy and efficiency.

In this paper, we propose a novel three-dimensional (3D) non-stationary geometry-based channel model with a uniform planar antenna array (UPA) for massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication in crossroads scattering environments. Considering the nearfield effect, we first calculate the received phases and Doppler frequency variations caused by movements under the spherical wavefront assumption. In this case, we adopt a two-ring and four-quarter-cylinder model to characterize the moving vehicles and static scatterers on the building, respectively. Then, we derive the closed-form expressions of channel impulse responses (CIRs) of the proposed model and discuss statistical properties in detail, e.g., temporal auto-correlation function (ACF) and spatial crosscorrelation function (CCF). Furthermore, the impacts of the movements, distribution of scatterers and setting of UPA on channel statistical properties are studied. Finally, our numerical and simulation results show that our proposed model with limited scatterers can capture the characteristics of massive MIMO V2V communication in crossroads scattering environments while agreeing well with the theoretical model, thereby demonstrating the efficiency of our model.

A hybrid sampling strategy is considered in multimode sampling based particle filter to alleviate the degeneracy as one of the most typical problems in the particle filter. However, to achieve high accuracy, expensive computation cost is inevitable when generating the hybrid distribution. To overcome this problem, a novel framework of particle filter is proposed in this paper with an improved hybrid sampling strategy. The main novelty is that this framework can simplify the generation of the hybrid distribution and makes the selection of particles more reasonable, in which the likelihood of particle is used to select the particles and determine the weights of multiple basic proposal distributions. Two simulation examples are implemented to test performances of the proposed filter algorithm. The obtained results show that the proposed framework has several superior performances in comparison with the standard particle filter, the unscented particle filter and the multimode sampling based particle filter.

In this work, we investigate sensing parameter estimation in the presence of clutter in perceptive mobile networks (PMNs) that integrate radar sensing into mobile communications. Performing clutter suppression before sensing parameter estimation is generally desirable as the number of sensing parameters can be significantly reduced. However, existing methods require high-complexity clutter mitigation and sensing parameter estimation, where clutter is firstly identified and then removed. In this correspondence, we propose a much simpler but more effective method by incorporating a clutter cancellation mechanism in formulating a sparse signal model for sensing parameter estimation. In particular, clutter mitigation is performed directly on the received signals and the unitary approximate message passing (UAMP) is leveraged to exploit the common support for sensing parameter estimation in the formulated sparse signal recovery problem. Simulation results show that, compared to state-of-the-art methods, the proposed method delivers significantly better performance while with substantially reduced complexity. In this paper, we propose a novel single-hop cylinder-based channel model for massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) air-to-ground (A2G) communication systems. With employing a uniform planar array (UPA) at the ground station (GS), we first characterize the geometrical relationships between transmitter and receiver through vectors in detail. Then, to describe the spatial non-stationary properties of clusters along the UPA, we propose a novel scatterer update process, which keeps the number of visible scatterers of different antenna elements constant. It also solves the high spatial-correlation problem, which results from the survival probability of the scatterer not tending to zero with the increase of distance. Moreover, we discuss the impacts of the spatial non-stationary properties on channel statistical characteristics, i.e., the spatial correlation function. Finally, our numerical and simulation results show that compared with other models, our proposed channel model can capture the spatial non-stationary properties of massive MIMO A2G channels observed in channel measurements well.

In this paper, a novel three-dimensional (3D) wideband geometry-based stochastic model (GBSM) is developed for the fifth-Generation (5G) massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) channels in urban merging areas. Our proposed model consists of a semi-circle and multi-confocal semi-ellipsoids, which is the first GBSM that is capable of modeling the blocking effect of the sound barrier equipped in the merging area. Under the spherical wavefront assumption, we first derive the channel impulse responses (CIRs) of the proposed model in detail. Then we further generate the corresponding simulation model by using a ray selection algorithm with considering the influence of the sound barrier. Moreover, the impacts of the height of the sound barrier and the velocity of the vehicle on the statistical characteristics of the proposed model are discussed. Finally, our numerical and simulation results indicate that our proposed model can capture characteristics of massive MIMO V2V channels in a merging area, thereby demonstrating the efficiency of our proposed model.

The express delivery industry has become integral to modern social life, but supply chain parcels, especially those made of corrugated cardboard, are at risk of damage during transportation. Although corrugated cardboard boxes offer some impact resistance, they can still experience deformation and penetration damage. To address this issue, we propose a hybrid model called Parcels-DNet. Parcels-DNet adopts a lightweight feature extraction backbone network, enabling deployment in resource-constrained scenarios like mobile or embedded devices. Additionally, our experimental results demonstrate that Parcels-DNet effectively captures the features of parcel deformation and penetration damage. This improves the safety and efficiency of express supply chain parcel transportation, offering greater convenience and economic benefits for the logistics industry.
