Magnesium (Mg) alloys have a low density among the structural metals, but it is hard to be plastically deformed due to their crystallographic nature. Wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) could be one of the alternative processes to fabricate the Mg products for various industrial applications. Nonetheless, it has not been yet barely used in industrial fields due to challenging issues such as low commercial availability of wire, high oxygen affinity, explosive and flammable hazard, and typical defects of WAAM like distortion and side collapse, grain coarsening, etc. In this research, it was tried to find out the better way to fabricate the WAAM of AZ31 alloy. An additional side shielding was given for global shielding during the WAAM process, and compared with the conventional shielding method. It was observed that the global shielding affects the microstructural evolution of the WAAM product, and influences the mechanical property in a positive way. © 2023, The Authors. AHrS (Attitude and Heading reference System) has low attitude accuracy under magnetic disturbance. Because of this, this paper designs an extended Kalman filter-based attitude and heading reference system in a magnetic disturbance state. In general, the AHrS system only uses the Kalman filter and has low attitude accuracy under magnetic disturbance. The AHrS system designed herein first calibrates the distorted magnetic field value under magnetic disturbance by using the ellipsoid fitting algorithm to improve the heading angle accuracy. After that, the data from the magnetometer, accelerometer, and gyroscope are combined using the extended Kalman filter technique. An adaptive measurement noise covariance matrix is created to lessen the influence of carrier vibration and external magnetic disturbance on attitude measurement, which enhances the system’s anti-interference ability and improves attitude measurement accuracy. Experiments show that the system can not only properly use the gyroscope’s drift but also improve the accuracy in attitude estimation, with the root mean square error of the three angles above 0.5°.

In this study, a thermal battery is designed with vacuum insulation to improve its thermal insulation. Thermal insulation is one of the many factors that determine the stability and operation of the battery. The battery’s operating time as well as the improvement in its thermal insulation performance were analyzed. The location of the vacuum insulation was set as a variable in the analysis models. The thermal battery was subjected to unsteady heat transfer analysis until the electrolyte temperature reached 450°C. Vacuum insulation was applied to the part of the base thermal battery to fabricate three model batteries. compared with the base model B, the operating time increased by 48% for the model BS, 76% for the model BSB, and 179% for the model BSBT. due to the large area of the side, a large amount of heat was transferred;the quantity of heat transfer was in the order B>BS>BSB>BSBT. In the model BSBT, the heat loss per unit area was reduced by 93% at the side, top, bottom compared with the base model. The results of this study will serve as basic data for the design of thermal batteries with vacuum insulation and for improvement in insulation performance. © 2021 Trans Tech Publications ltd, Switzerland.

Powder-based 3dP was the first technique to print full color 3d objects with continuous tone. However, limited by the size of the printing platform, large 3d objects can hardly be printed efficiently which has affected the spread of this technology. In consideration of the above issues, this paper discussed the relationship between printing time and model height, and a algorithm for optimizing printing time was presented. Ten typical models had been printed to verify the effectiveness of XYX rotation method. The results showed that the maximum time reduction is 65.7% less than the modeling time before optimizing. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte ltd.

To achieve high-coercivity in Nd-Fe-B sintered magnets without relying on the use of heavy rare-earth (HrE), developing HrE-free grain-boundary-diffusion-process (GBdP) using the light rare-earth, Pr, is highly desired. The key factor for achieving high-coercivity via Pr-GBdP is to increase the Pr-concentration of Pr-rich shell by reducing its thickness, and this can be realized by inhibiting the chemically induced liquid film migration (CILFM) that occurs to form the shell. Herein, for the first time, we report achievement of high-coercivity of 2.35 T without using HrE by developing CILFM-inhibited two-step GBdP that uses TaF5 to form a intergranular precipitate (PPT) and Pr70Cu15Al10Ga5 to form a Pr-rich shell in the 1st- and 2nd-steps, respectively. due to the formation of hexagonal-TaB2 intergranular PPT during the 1st-GBdP, the CILFM is inhibited during the 2nd-GBdP, thereby reducing the grain size and forming the thinner shell with higher Pr-concentration in the magnets. As a result, the μ0Hc of two-step GBdP magnets (2.35 T) is considerably higher than that of magnets GBd-treated with Pr70Cu15Al10Ga5 alone (1.85 T). A micromagnetic simulation shows that the nucleation field at the interface between the 2-14-1 grain and Nd-rich phase in two-step GBdP magnets increases by such a thinner and higher Pr-concentration shell. Furthermore, due to the CILFM inhibition, the number of Pr atoms consumed for the shell formation near the magnet surface reduces in the two-step GBdP magnets, resulting in an increased GBd-depth of Pr, and this is another contributor for realizing a high-coercivity in magnets via the HrE-free two-step GBdP. © 2024, The Authors. The damage mechanism and deterioration characteristics of acid-corroded sandstone: an experimental study

Because of the long-term interaction with polluted groundwater, the physicomechanical characteristics of rock have deteriorated. In this paper, experimental investigations were conducted to shed light on the effects of acid types, pH values, and immersion periods on physicomechanical properties, microstructure change, and energy characteristics of sandstone. Besides, the essence of mechanical deterioration of corroded sandstone was revealed based on the energy evolution law, and the chemical damage mechanism of sandstone subjected to acid solutions was concluded in the theoretical context of chemical kinetics. The results showed that acid corrosion would cause the increase of P-wave velocity, porosity, peak strain, the decrease of characteristic stresses, elastic modulus, strain energy, and the change of internal microstructure and mineral content. The same exponential function could express the relationship between damage variables based on P-wave velocity or porosity and corrosion time. Moreover, the effects became evident as pH values declined and immersion periods extended, especially for HCl solution.

The cell-type continuous electromagnetic radiation system is a demonstration device capable of generating high-power millimeter electromagnetic waves of a specific wavelength and observing their effects on living *** irradiates a biological sample placed in a 30×30×50 cm^(3)cell with electromagnetic waves in the 3.15-mm-wavelength region(with an output of≥1 W)and analyzes the temperature change of the sample.A vacuum electronic device-based coupled-cavity backward-wave oscillator converts the electron energy of the electron beam into radiofrequency(rF)energy and radiates it to the target through an antenna,increasing the temperature through the absorption of rF energy in the *** system causes pain and ultimately reduces combat power.A cell-type continuous electromagnetic radiation system consisting of four parts—an electromagnetic-wave generator,a highvoltage power supply,a test cell,and a system controller—generates an rF signal of≥1 W in a continuous waveform at a 95-GHz center frequency,as well as a chemical solution with a dielectric constant similar to that of the skin of a living *** increase of 5°C lasting approximately 10 s was confirmed through an experiment.

In industrial robot design, selecting a motor and reducer is one of the essential elements in the design process. The typical mechanical reducer type is a gear train or planetary gear set. Unfortunately, the gear train and the planetary gear have a meager gear ratio, while their weight is too heavy, the transmission repetition accuracy is low and has a high backlash. On the other hand, the harmonic reducer system developed from the transmission gear has an elastic strain wave, which gives a better gear ratio per weight than those two gear systems. In this paper, a harmonic gear reducer is designed according to the transmission requirements and applied rotation to the base of a Puma 560 industrial robot. The harmonic drive is designed under gear physical requirements and robot techniques properties. The required gear ratio of the rotary joint of 1/50, gear geometry design, manufacturing, calculation, and simulation of strength, the safety factor, and experimental results have verified the designs.

Native/thermally denatured myofibrillar protein ( MPs/TMPs) combined with inulin (In) can improve its stability in water, but it also has certain limitations. The stability of MPs/TMPs-In emulsion was studied by applying ultrasound at different powers (200-800 W). After ultrasound treatment, the droplet size decreased, especially the particle size of MPs-600 W inulin emulsion reached 1 µm. In addition, by measuring the oxidation stability of oil, it was found that ultrasound could inhibit emulsion oxidation, and the PV of MPs-600 W droplets reached 5.37 ± 0.18 mmol/Kg and TBSAT reached 2.37 ± 0.19 µmol/Kg. However, at the same ultrasound power, the dispersion of TMPs-In droplets is not as good as that of MPs-In droplets, indicating that thermal denaturing is not conducive to emulsion stability. Therefore, the introduce of ultrasound to ameliorate the stability of MPs/TMPs-In emulsion is effective, especially at 600 W ultrasound power, the emulsion shows good stability. © 2024, The Authors. With the advent of Industry 4.0 and the Industrial Internet, the Internet of Things (IoT) development of applications is booming, the mining machinery working environment is extremely harsh, therefore, the requirements of the performance, quality, durability, reliability of its gearbox is pretty high, to meet these requirements, real-time monitoring is becoming a demanded task. For this purpose, a gearbox monitoring system based on edge computing is established. In the paper at hand, a novel Jacobi-type data parallel processing method is proposed, with which, the efficiency and life of the gearbox are calculated through the edge service APP. Traditional methods by solely utilizing cloud computing cannot effectively accomplish this task. Using cloud-edge collaboration technology, the Web application in scenarios such as intelligent mining is designed, which can grasp the operating status of equipment in the entire mining area, unify scheduling and orchestration of computing resources, update the monitoring model on edge computing nodes, and process and generate effective data of machinery and equipment in real-time at the edge computing device. It reduces the operation and maintenance cost, solves the problem of monitoring data congestion caused by insufficient data bandwidth, and ensures a stable and safe operation of mining machinery.
