Niger project, with abundant oil and gas resources (proven geological reserves of 700 million tons and exploitable reserves of 127 million tons), is an important area for PetroChina’s oil and gas cooperation in West Africa. The second spud wellbore structure is the main wellbore structure type of wells in this area. The actual drilling operation shows that when drilling in a long section of shale formation, the casing running and logging operation are prone to blocked due to the wellbore instability (shrinkage and collapse), which caused long treatment time of complex accidents and low drilling efficiency. Based on the indoor physical simulation experiment and field drilling practice, the wellbore instability mechanism of Agadem oilfield is clarified. combined with the field experiment, a borehole quality assurance technology focusing on the optimal design of high-efficiency Amine-based drilling fluid, BHA and process measures is formed to improve the wellbore quality of mudstone formation and reduce the complexity of drilling accidents. Laboratory experiments show that the extreme pressure lubrication coefficient of Amine-based drilling fluid is only 0.187, and the secondary recovery can reach 80%, which can inhibit the hydration expansion of shale. Optimized BHA and process measures can further prevent shale shrinkage and ensure the smooth construction of electric logging and well completion operation. The borehole quality assurance technology has been applied in 11 wells in Niger. The results show that the technology can effectively expand the borehole (the average borehole expansion rate is increased from 6.13%-10.43% to 12.35%-14.82%), improve the degree of borehole rules, reduce the risk of obstruction in tripping (from 62.2% to 23.45%), increase the mechanical rOP by 22.12% and improve the drilling efficiency by 23.23%, The drilling cycle and well construction cycle are greatly shortened. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore P

MrC (Maximum reservoir contact) wells with extra-long laterals (formation contact length > 5000m) are drilled in many oilfields in the world to develop tight and thin reservoirs. LEL (Limited Entry Liner) completion and acidizing are an effective technology to stimulate these wells because they distribute the acid uniformly along the long laterals. The design of a distribution of holes in LEL is the key to this technology, especially for reservoirs with high heterogeneity. This study focuses on the optimization of the current LEL completion design strategy by considering the porosity heterogeneity along the lateral and the permeability anisotropy within each segment. Firstly, a model for designing a distribution of holes in LEL is established by incorporating a newly developed model for calculating a post-stimulation equivalent skin factor. Secondly, three LEL completion design strategies are proposed: uniform acid coverage, uniform wormhole length and uniform equivalent skin factor. Thirdly, a real well case is introduced to show the difference between the three strategies in terms of the distribution of holes, generated wormhole length and post-stimulation skin factor. In our new design model, the variances of formation porosity, the differences in acid outlet flow velocity among different segments and the difference in permeability in different directions are considered. This model is used in a horizontal well to achieve uniform post-stimulation equivalent skin factor and the result is compared with those by the other two design strategies. The result from the uniform acid coverage strategy shows that the total number of holes is 198, the length of the generated wormhole is 4.46ft and the equivalent skin factor is -2.88. The result from the uniform wormhole length strategy indicates that fewer holes (totally 135) and a more irregular holes distribution are obtained;the wormhole length is 0.43ft. NH_(2)-MIL-125 is one of the most promising metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)for use as an adsorbent to remove nitrogen-containing compounds(NCCs)from *** this study,NH_(2)-MIL-125 was further modified by loading the highly electronegative F and the heteropoly acid phosphomolybdic acid hydrate(PMA).Hydrogen bonds are suggested to form between F and PMA.X-ray diffraction(Xrd)and scanning electron microscopy(SEM)showed that the addition of these elements altered the morphology of NH_(2)-MIL-125,resulting in the growth of sectional octahedrons and *** adsorptive denitrogenation(AdN)activity of 10%PMA@M125 was 1.7 times greater than that of NH_(2)-MIL-125 without F and *** synergistic effect of F and PMA on the morphology and structure of NH_(2)-MIL-125 was examined,with a focus on different PMA *** study provides a simple method for modifying the morphology and structure of NH_(2)-MIL-125 by adding the required elements.

during oil and gas drilling, the harmful vibration of the drill string greatly reduces drilling efficiency. The interaction between the drill bit and the formation is one of the main sources of drill string vibration. Studying the vibration characteristics of the drill bit during rock breaking is the basis for controlling the vibration of the drill string and improving drilling efficiency. This article uses a self-designed three-dimensional rock breaking test system to conduct rock breaking tests under different drilling parameters, and combines the discrete element method to study the vibration characteristics of the drill bit. research has shown that the values and vibration amplitude of weight on bit(WOB), and fluctuation amplitude of rotational speed all increase with the increase of the rate of penetration(rOP);At the same rOP, the higher the rock strength, the greater the WOB;The vibration frequency of WOB is more complex than the vibration frequency of rotational speed. The vibration frequency of WOB changes with the increase of drilling pressure, and the vibration frequency of rotational speed is independent of the magnitude of WOB, basically equal to the first-order torsional natural frequency of the system;As the drilling pressure increases, the vibration frequency of the WOB gradually approaches the vibration frequency of the rotational speed. The research results deepen the understanding of the vibration characteristics of drill bits and have practical guiding significance for studying the movement of drill strings. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte ltd. 2024.

To prolong the service life and calculate the service time of flexible shaft of titanium alloy, the feasibility of using S-N curve to predict the material life was demonstrated through theoretical derivation. And the S-N curve of fatigue stress was obtained through the ultra-high cycle fatigue test. By using finite element and parameterized method, stress concentration factor under different rounded corners were calculated, stress distribution under different rounded values and bend angles were simulated. The optimal solution of rounded value was calculated. And the optimal solution under different bend angles of safety coefficient was calculated. Though those, the allowable maximum value of the bend angle was determined;And the minimum service time of the flexible shaft under the preferred value was deduced. The fracture mechanics simulation was conducted to calculate the changed law of stress extreme value under different crack depths. The maximum value of crack depth was also calculated. Based on the Paris formula and crack maximum calculation results, the limit cycle times and crack extension rate of the flexible shaft are derived, consequently, the crack initiation law and service time of flexible shaft of titanium alloy were studied. Field tests and metallographic tests were carried out to verify the correctness of the calculation of crack initiation and propagation law. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte ltd.

Electrocatalytic co2reduction to valuable chemicals with exceptional selectivity is highly ***,it is still challenging to bypass the competitive hydrogen evolution reaction（HEr） and branched pathways via regulating the structure of ***,we disclose an unconventional solvent regulation strategy to realize near-unity co2-to-co conversion across diverse metal catalysts including Pt,Fe,co,Ni,Mo,W,Nb,Cu,Ag,Au,Zn,Sn,and *** water content in the acetonitrile electrolyte is precisely controlled,and the ratio of hydrogen evolution shows a positive correlation to the hydrogen binding energy of metal elements and the concentration of ***,we find that the acetonitrile could impair the interaction between*co and metal electrode and thus promote the desorption of**** a result,the Cu electrodes display poor activity to produce hydrocarbons in acetonitrile,unlike that in aqueous solutions,and near 100%co Faradaic efficiencies over a wide potential window（-1.9 to -2.4 V vs. Fc/Fc+） are achieved at a water concentration of 0.19 *** work reveals the solvent effect on determining the co2rr selectivity,which adds a new dimension to tailoring the final products besides catalyst optimization.

Insights into the carbonate/bicarbonate ion-induced failure mechanism of bentonite in drilling fluids

during deep oil and gas drilling, drilling fluids are often polluted with carbon dioxide (co2). The intrusion of co2 can affect bentonite performance, leading to deterioration or even failure of drilling fluids. To further investigate the influence of co2 pollution on the bentonite and its failure mechanism, Na2co3 simulation experiments were conducted. Performance evaluation showed that as the concentration of Hco3− and co32− increased, the viscosity, filtration loss, and mud cake permeability of drilling fluids significantly increased. Meanwhile, the drilling fluid foaming was particularly evident. Mechanism studies indicated that the adsorption of Hco3− and co32− on the bentonite diminished the electrostatic interactions and interlayer spacing between particles, leading to the particles aggregation and a decrease in Zeta potential, ultimately causing the hydration film on the bentonite to become thinner. Simultaneously, this also led to a decline in the dispersibility of bentonite. This study can offer a new research thread for the failure mechanism of bentonite under co2 pollution and indicate the direction for the study of drilling fluid resistance to acidic gas pollution. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.

Micro/nano structured oleophobic agent improving the wellbore stability of shale gas wells

Through embedding modified nano-silica particles on the surface of polystyrene using the method of Pickering emulsion polymerization,a kind of nano/micro oleophobic agent named OL-1 was *** effects of OL-1 on the rock surface properties and its performance in inhibiting the oil phase imbibition into the rock were *** performance and mechanisms of OL-1 in improving the wellbore stability of shale gas wells were evaluated and ***-1 could absorb on the surface of the shale core to form a membrane with a micro-nano two-stage roughness,making the surface energy of the core decrease to 0.13 mN/m and the contact angle of the white oil on the core surface increase from 16.39°to 153.03°.compared with the untreated capillary tube,when immersed into 3#white oil,the capillary tube treated by OL-1 had a reversal of capillary pressure from 273.76 Pa to-297.71 Pa,and the oil imbibition height inside the capillary tube decreased from 31 mm above the external liquid level to 33 mm below the external liquid *** amount of oil invading into the rock core modified by OL-1 decreased by 64.29%compared with the untreated *** shale core immersed into the oil-based drilling fluids with 1%OL-1 had a porosity reduction rate of only 4.5%.compared with the core immersed in the drilling fluids without OL-1,the inherent force of the core treated by 1%OL-1 increased by 24.9%,demonstrating that OL-1 could effectively improve the rock mechanical stability by inhibiting oil phase imbibition.
