It is a complicated problem for the bottom-to-top adaptive conceptual design of complicated products between structure and function. reliable theories demand to be found in order to determine whether the structure accords with the requirement of design. For the requirement generally is dynamic variety as time passes, new requirements will come, and some initial requirements can no longer be used. The number of product requirements, the gene length expressing requirements, the structure of the product, and the correlation matrix are varied with individuation of customerrequirements of the product. By researching on the calculation mechanisms of dynamic variety, the approaches of gene expression and variable length gene expression are proposed. According to the diversity of structure selection in conceptual design and mutual relations between structure and function as well as structure and structure, the correlation matrixes between structure and function as well as structure and structure are defined. By the approach of making the sum of the elements of correlation matrix maximum, the mathematical models of multi-object optimization for structure design are provided based on variable requirements. An improved genetic algorithm called segment genetic algorithm is proposed based on optimization preservation simple genetic algorithm. The models of multi-object optimization are calculated by the segment genetic algorithm and hybrid genetic algorithm. An example for the conceptual design of a washing machine is given to show that the proposed method is able to realize the optimization structure design fitting for variable requirements. In addition, the proposed approach can provide good Pareto optimization solutions, and the individuation customerrequirements for structures of products are able to be resolved effectively.

A novel process for fabricating field emission display (FEd) devices with spray-coating method is proposed. Spray-coating method can be applied to cathode and even possible for anode fabrication process. It is a fast and low cost process that is easily scaling up for large size panel. Mixing MWNT, which is synthesized by arc-discharge, some conductive materials, and binding with solvent makes CNT mixture for spraying. Cathode is coated with CNT film by the spray process. After sintering process, it is evaluated by electron emission. This diode type CNT-FEd with spray-coating process possessed good electron emission properties.

In this paper, inverse optimal control problem for an inverted pendulum with horizontal and vertical movements is considered. This inverted pendulum can be transformed into a bilinear system by using input transformation andcoordinate transformation focused on the center of percussion of the pendulum. For bilinear systems, an optimal control algorithm which minimizes a new quadratic cost function was proposed. However, there are no experiments by using this controller. Thus this control algorithm may not be able to be applied to real examples. And so, in this paper, this control algorithm is applied to the bilinear system of the inverted pendulum. Furthermore, the effectiveness of this controller is shown by experiments.
