Wellbore instability is one of the difficult problems restricting safe drilling. The traditional theoretical model of wellbore stability is easy to cause the actual drilling fluid density to be high and aggravate the risk of drilling lost circulation. Therefore, firstly, the rock mechanics parameter profile is quantitatively obtained according to the field multi-source data, and the single well geomechanics model is established;Then, the Monte Carlo method is used to comprehensively consider the uncertainty of geomechanical parameters, and a quantitative evaluation method of wellbore stability based on geomechanics is established to reasonably evaluate the wellbore stability probability and optimize the safe density window of drilling fluid;Finally, taking well X of an oil field in Western China as an example, the new method is used to quantitatively evaluate the wellbore stable section and unstable section, and the evaluation results are compared with the actual complex situation to dynamically optimize the density window of drilling fluid. The results show that the calculation results of the new method are consistent with the actual situation, and the probability of wellbore stability is more than 80%. This method can effectively evaluate the wellbore stability, and provide a reasonable density window of drilling fluid, reducing the drilling complexity and cost, which is of great significance to meet the requirements of safe and efficient drilling. © 2022 ArMA, American rock Mechanics Association.

Niger project, with abundant oil and gas resources (proven geological reserves of 700 million tons and exploitable reserves of 127 million tons), is an important area for PetroChina’s oil and gas cooperation in West Africa. The second spud wellbore structure is the main wellbore structure type of wells in this area. The actual drilling operation shows that when drilling in a long section of shale formation, the casing running and logging operation are prone to blocked due to the wellbore instability (shrinkage and collapse), which caused long treatment time of complex accidents and low drilling efficiency. Based on the indoor physical simulation experiment and field drilling practice, the wellbore instability mechanism of Agadem oilfield is clarified. Combined with the field experiment, a borehole quality assurance technology focusing on the optimal design of high-efficiency Amine-based drilling fluid, BHA and process measures is formed to improve the wellbore quality of mudstone formation and reduce the complexity of drilling accidents. Laboratory experiments show that the extreme pressure lubrication coefficient of Amine-based drilling fluid is only 0.187, and the secondary recovery can reach 80%, which can inhibit the hydration expansion of shale. Optimized BHA and process measures can further prevent shale shrinkage and ensure the smooth construction of electric logging and well completion operation. The borehole quality assurance technology has been applied in 11 wells in Niger. The results show that the technology can effectively expand the borehole (the average borehole expansion rate is increased from 6.13%-10.43% to 12.35%-14.82%), improve the degree of borehole rules, reduce the risk of obstruction in tripping (from 62.2% to 23.45%), increase the mechanical rOP by 22.12% and improve the drilling efficiency by 23.23%, The drilling cycle and well construction cycle are greatly shortened. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore P

With the rapid development of space exploration and new energy vehicles,it is urgent to build ultra-wide temperature multilayer ceramic capacitors(UWT MLCCs)to match electronic circuits that can withstand harsh environmental *** ferroelectrics with diffuse phase transition feature are potential dielectrics for the construction of UWT ***,how to ensure high dielectric constant together with low dielectric loss in the wide temperature region is still a big ***,the above difficulties are addressed by tailoring the combination types of polar nanoregions(PNrs)in the(1-x)(0.8Na_(0.5)Bi_(0.5)TiO_(3)-0.2K_(0.5)Bi_(0.5)TiO_(3))-xNaTaO3(NBT-KBT-xNT)*** with PNrS types of P4bm+r3c and P4bm+Pbnm,the combination type of P4bm+Pbnm+r3c PNrs in NBT-KBT-0.31NT is the most beneficial to obtain comprehensive excellent dielectric performance because it can balance the relationship between high dielectric constant and temperature stability over a wide temperature ***,by optimizing the laminating pressure and co-firing temperature to realize a tight interfacial structure between the dielectric layer and the Pt inner electrode,a record-high dielectric constant(er=(907%±15%))together with low dielectric loss(tan δ≤0.025)is achieved over an ultra-wide range from-61℃ to 306℃ for NBT-KBT-0.31 NT MLCC,demonstrating that tailoring the combination types of PNrs is a powerful strategy in designing UWT MLCC dielectrics.

Machine Learning (ML) studies are carried on in the hydrocarbon exploration and production. The rate of penetration (rOP) is one of the investigations related to ML. Previous studies could not fit the ultra-deep well and most of machine learning rOP prediction are black box models lacking of enough explanation. ML rOP prediction need more accurate rOP models. In this paper a new and reliable calculation method of rOP prediction for well drilling is proposed by Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) algorithm. It is compared with random Forest regression algorithm on rOP prediction models. According to the importance ranking, rotating torque is the most impacted factor in this dataset. The conclusion is that rOP prediction model based on XGBoost has smaller prediction mean square error and shows higher efficiency than random Forest, showing the superiority of the XGBoost. Considering the SHAP value ranking, torque and rPM are the most important features and they are positively impacted rOP in well drilling rOP model established by XGBoost machine learning method can make reasonable use of drilling parameters and provide reference for well drilling optimization. rOP model optimization derived from XGBoost can extremely reduce the expenses by reducing the drilling time. © 2022 ArMA, American rock Mechanics Association.

In order to meet today's increasing fluctuations in energy demand, large-scale underground salt rock gas storage is widely used in the storage of fuels, including natural gas, oil and hydrogen. From the perspective of macroscopic structure and stratigraphic structure, the Jintan salt deposit in China has good sealing properties, and is an ideal solution mining area for the construction of salt rock gas storage. Salt rock has extremely low permeability and self-repairing properties, which greatly increase the sealing performance of the gas storage. Underground salt cavern hydrogen storage has been proved feasible in some area worldwide. The molecular weight of hydrogen is extremely low, so it has high requirements on the sealing performance of hydrogen storage, especially in terms of long-time storage. In this paper, two geo-mechanical models are established as one single-cavern configuration and 4-cavern configuration to analyze the stability of the hydrogen storage in terms of cavity volume shrinkage, stress distribution of rock mass around caverns, and surface subsidence. Through numerical simulation using FLAC3d, the evolution law under long-time low-pressure conditions is investigated. The tightness and stability of the trap conditions of the salt interval are studied, and the reasonable low operating pressure range of the salt rock hydrogen storage is proposed. The study found that under the condition of ensuring the stability of the salt cavity, the gas storage should keep the operating pressure from 8 MPa to 9 MPa at the depth around 800 to 1000 m. The long-term constant pressure operation at lower and higher limit did not see obvious salt cavity tensile stress concentration areas within 30 years, and the salt cavity expansion area was concentrated in the local area. For most salt cavern hydrogen storages of 800 to 1000 meters depth, 8.27 MPa is an acceptable operational pressure. Considering the surface subsidence, it is necessary to pay more attention when

Carbonate rocks are an important oil and gas reservoir rock. Conical PdC (Polycrystalline diamond Compact) cutter, as a special shaped PdC cutter, can significantly improve the rate of penetration (rOP) in hard formations. However, the breakage characteristics and failure mode of the conical PdC cutter penetrating carbonate rock is unclear. A series of single cutter penetration tests were carried out with the conical and conventional PdC cutters. The surface morphology of broken pit and specific energy were analyzed. The conical cutter caused brittle damage on the rock around the broken pit at the rake angle of 10 and 20 degrees. The results of the numerical model based on the cohesive element method show that the conical cutter produce the significant tensile damage on the rock at the rake angle of 10 and 20 degrees. The tensile capacity of the conical cutter is stronger than that of the conventional cutter. The research findings of this work offer insights into the breakage process and failure mode of carbonate rock by the conical cutter. Copyright 2024 ArMA, American rock Mechanics Association.

during hydraulic fracturing process of the Permian Basin in North America, the cluster spacing has been shortened to 3m, and stress shadow can no longer be ignored. Many scholars have studied the influence of stress shadows to optimize cluster spacing. For reservoirs with natural fractures, how to activate more natural fractures through hydraulic fracturing has become the purpose. However, few scholars have studied changes in the activation law of natural fractures under stress shadow conditions. This paper establishes stress change value around single fracture according to Sneddon formula, and calculates the maximum and minimum principal stress according to plane principal stress calculation formula. Considering attenuation of net pressure, stress field of multiple fractures is established, and influence of various factors on stress re-orientation is studied. Finally, considering attenuation of net pressure with distance, according to discriminant formulas of tension & shear activation, the proportion of natural fractures that are easily activated is calculated. By designing orthogonal experiments, the influence of different factors on the proportion of activated natural fractures was studied. The stress increase in the direction of the minimum principal stress is much greater than the increase in the direction of the maximum principal stress. The stress increases in the direction of the maximum principal stress at the tip of the hydraulic fracture. The tip position between hydraulic fractures is "neutralized" due to the superposition of shear stress. Stress-fracture angle and the in-situ stress difference are the common main influencing factors for both tensile and shear activation, but the net pressure has little effect on the tensile activation of natural fracture. The fracture spacing has little effect on the activation of natural fractures. When formulating the fracturing scheme, we should pay more attention to the net pressure rather than the fracture spacing

The high reaction rate of hydrochloric acid, the low dissolution rate of organic acids, and the difficulty of injection of highly viscous gelled acids are all unsuitable for the acidification of low-permeability hybrid sediment reservoirs. The lithology of hybrid sediment rock reservoir is complex, and the dissolution rate of single acid is low. In this paper, an oil-in-water (O/W) microemulsion retarded acid is developed, and acidizing performance is studied. The microemulsion can be diluted in the acid system, and the structure of the microemulsion is not destroyed. The average particle size is less than 10 nm. The microemulsion acid can effectively reduce the oil-water interfacial tension, reducing the resistance to enter low-permeability cores. By adding microemulsion to the multi-hydrogen acid system, the dissolution rate is greater than 45 %. The retarded mechanism is that the polyhydric acid gradually releases hydrogen ions, then the microemulsion adsorbs on the rock surface. At the same time, the corrosion rate of microemulsion retarded acid and N80 steel is only 1.07 g/m2·h. Microemulsion retarders can adjust the surfactant composition according to the rock mineral composition to achieve the effect of high acid dissolution and substantial retardation and provide guidance for the stimulation of hybrid sediments rock reservoirs in the field. © 2023 57th US rock Mechanics/Geomechanics Symposium. drilling system dynamics is the basis of studying the interaction between components in drilling process, which needs to solve many difficult problems such as geometric nonlinear dynamics of drill string, contact between drill string and wellbore, solving timeliness and so on. The existing research on establishing dynamic unit of local drilling tool structure has low solution efficiency, and it is difficult to meet the requirements of directional trajectory control and drilling speed increase analysis efficiently. dynamics model of a downhole drill string system is established by using the multibody system dynamics method in this study. The natural coordinate formulation and the absolute nodal coordinate formulation are adopted to describe the rigid parts and the flexible beams, respectively. The presented model can be used to analyze the dynamic characteristics of the drill string system and the interaction between the drill string and the environment such as the wellbore and rocks in the drilling process. Finally, through comparative analysis with on-site test data, the correctness of the multibody dynamic model of the drill string system established in this paper was preliminarily verified. © 2024 Institute of Physics Publishing.
