This work aimed at investigating the crucial factor in building and maintaining the combustion front during in-situ combustion(ISC),oxidized coke and pyrolyzed *** surface morphologies,elemental contents,and non-isothermal mass losses of the oxidized and pyrolyzed cokes were thoroughly *** results indicated that the oxidized coke could be combusted at a lower temperature compared to the pyrolyzed coke due primarily to their differences in the molecular polarity and *** triplets of coke combustion were determined using iso-conversional models and one advanced integral master plots *** activation energy values of the oxidized and pyrolyzed cokes varied in the range of 130-153 k J/mol and 95-120 kJ/mol,*** most appropriate reaction model of combustion of the oxidized and pyrolyzed cokes followed three-dimensional diffusion model(d_(3)) and random nucleation and subsequent growth model(F_(1)),*** observations assisted in building the numerical model of these two types of cokes to simulate the ISC process.

The agglomeration of polybutadiene latex (PBL) is a complex process influenced by numerous factors. Up to now, the change of particle size of agglomerated PBL with time under varying conditions remains unclear, and the agglomeration kinetic model of PBL has not been proposed. In this study, the influence of the process parameters on the particle size of agglomerated PBL with time was studied, including the amount of agglomerating agent, temperature, stirring rate and solid content of PBL. According to the particle size evolution of agglomerated PBL, the agglomeration process of PBL is divided into two stages, including the dispersion of the agglomerating agent and its adsorption and coalescence with PBL (stage I), followed by the shrinkage of agglomerated PBL particles (stage II). It was found that the process of stage I can be accelerated significantly by increasing the amount of agglomerating agent and agglomeration temperature during PBL agglomeration, thereby reducing the total agglomeration time. The mean particle size of agglomerated PBL was also reduced when the agglomeration process reached stability. With the increase of stirring rate, the time required for agglomeration of PBL and the mean particle size of agglomerated PBL decrease. The higher the solid content of pre-agglomerate PBL, the shorter the time for PBL to complete the agglomeration, but it has no obvious effect on the mean particle size of agglomerated PBL. Based on the experimental results, on the one hand, a novel method for expressing the particle size shrinkage of agglomerated PBL was developed. This analysis was based on the change of mean particle size of agglomerated PBL with time. On the other hand, the Boltzmann equation was used to ﬁt the agglomeration kinetics of the whole process of PBL agglomeration. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Adsorption isotherm and mechanism of Ca2+ binding to polyelectrolyte

Polyelectrolytes, such as polyacrylic acid (PAA), can effectively mitigate CaCO3 scale formation. despite their success as antiscalants, the underlying mechanism of Ca2+ binding to polyelectrolyte chains remains unresolved. Through all-atom molecular dynamics simulations, we construct an adsorption isotherm of Ca2+ binding to sodium polyacrylate (NaPAA) and investigate the associated binding mechanism. We find that the number of calcium ions adsorbed [Ca2+ads] to the polymer saturates at moderately high concentrations of free calcium ions [Ca2+aq ] in the solution. This saturation value is intricately connected with the binding modes accessible to Ca2+ ions when they bind to the polyelectrolyte chain. We identify two dominant binding modes: the first involves binding to at most two carboxylate oxygens on a polyacrylate chain, and the second, termed the high binding mode, involves binding to four or more carboxylate oxygens. As the concentration of free calcium ions [Ca2+aq ] increases from low to moderate levels, the polyelectrolyte chain undergoes a conformational transition from an extended coil to a hairpin-like structure, enhancing the accessibility to the high binding mode. At moderate concentrations of [Ca2+aq ], the high binding mode accounts for at least a third of all binding events. The chain’s conformational change and its consequent access to the high binding mode is found to increase the overall Ca2+ ion binding capacity of the polyelectrolyte chain. © 2023, CC BY.

Polyelectrolytes are commonly used to chelate multi-valent ions in aqueous solutions, playing a critical role in water softening and the prevention of mineralization. At sufficient ionic strength, ion-mediated polyelectrolyte- polyelectrolyte interactions can precipitate polyelectrolyte-ion complexes, a phenomenon known as "like-charge attraction". While the significant influence of small ions on polyelectrolyte solution phase behavior is recognized, the precise molecular mechanisms driving the counterintuitive phenomenon remain largely elusive. In this study, we employ all-atom molecular dynamics simulations to investigate the molecular mechanism of like-charge attraction between two poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) chains in solution. We find that moderate quantities of Ca2+ ions induce attraction between PAA chains, facilitated by the formation of PAA-Ca2+-PAA bridges and a significant increase in the coordination of Ca2+ ions by the PAA chains. At high Ca2+ number densities, ion bridges are disfavored due to electrostatic screening, yet the chains are still attracted to each other due to solvent-mediated interactions between the chains and their chelated ions. The insights gleaned from this study not only enrich our understanding of the intricate mechanism of like-charge attraction between polyanions in solution but also illuminate the influence of multi-valent ions on polyelectrolyte interactions. © 2023, CC BY.

Agglomerating Agent Emulsions Synergistic-Stabilized by Surfactants and Sio2nanoparticles: Stability, Mechanism and Applications for Pbl Agglomeration

The stability of agglomerating agent is an important parameter to evaluate its value, which is of great significance for its subsequent transportation, storage and practical application. In this study, a high stability agglomerating agent synergistic-stabilized by sodium dodecyl sulfate (SdS) and SiO2 was synthesized. The stabilization mechanism of the agglomerating agent and its agglomeration effect on PBL were studied. Firstly, the particle size, interfacial tension and viscosity of the agglomerating agent emulsion stabilized by SdS/SiO2 has been investigated and compared with those of conventional emulsion stabilized by SdS. The results show that when the SdS concentration is lower than 0.125%, the presence of SiO2 can significantly increase the anti-coagulation ability of agglomerating agent particles in the polymerization process. Furthermore, noting that agglomerating agent emulsions stabilized by SdS/SiO2 exhibited high stability even pH, centrifugation, storage, and temperatures changed in wide range. In addition, the stability of the agglomerating agents synergistic-stabilized by surfactants and SiO2 nanoparticles is better than using them alone. Then, the stability mechanism of SiO2in the agglomerating agent was investigated. The results revealed that the SiO2 particles are tightly adsorbed on the surface of the agglomerating agent particles through hydrogen bonding and play a physical isolation role. Finally, the 100 nm PBL was enlarged to 305 nm by a synthetic agglomerating agent. Surprisingly, the SiO2 particles show excellent physical isolation role, not only in agglomerating agent, but also in agglomerated PBL. Our findings provide novel insights into the synthesis of high stability agglomerating agent and improve the practical application significance of subsequent PBL agglomerations and ABS properties. © 2024, The Authors. Study on Agglomeration Process of Polybutadiene Latex Based on Polymer Agglomerating Agent

Polymer agglomeration has a good application prospect in enlarging the particle size of polybutadiene latex (PBL), which has attracted considerable attention in the field of agglomeration. However, the agglomeration process of PBL under different agglomeration conditions has not been studied. In this study, a coaxial cylindrical viscometer was used to perform agglomeration experiments. The different stages of PBL agglomeration can be determined by observing the viscosity changes, due to the particle size of nanoparticles in emulsion is an important factor affecting its viscosity. In this communication, the effect of the content of agglomerating agent, agglomeration temperature and shear rate on the agglomeration process and particle size of PBL were studied. It was found that with the increase of the content of agglomerating agent, the time required to reach the adsorption saturation and complete the entire agglomeration of PBL decreased. High temperature can accelerate the agglomeration process of PBL, but when the temperature is higher than 60 ℃, the stability of the emulsion will be destroyed. The increase of the shear rate can reduce the time required for the adsorption saturation, and the particle size of PBL decreases with the increase of the shear rate for the agglomeration system with the 12% content of agglomerating agent. This study not only provides a new perspective for the study the agglomeration process of PBL, but also helps to precisely control the agglomeration conditions of PBL and improve the agglomeration efficiency. © 2024, The Authors. Located in south of Eastern Venezuela Basin, Orinoco Oilfield is an onshore heavy oil field in South America. The heavy oil is known for its high content of acids, heavy metals and asphaltenes with a viscosity of 1000-10000mPa·s. According to the reserve report released by PdVSA by the end of 2016, JUNIN Block that is situated in east of Orinoco Oilfield has an OOIP of 178*108bbl. data of drilled wells and distances between offset horizontal intervals in Orinoco were both studied to improve ultimate production rates. 3-dimension borehole trajectories were designed and the most effective anti-collision measures were taken. After optimziation 8-12 horizontal wells are distributed on one pad. As the horizontal interval extends, the stable production time is prolonged and the accumulative production per well improves. However, the recovery rate stops increasing when the horizontal interval is over 1600m in JUNIN Block. Economically a large space between offset horizontal intervals results in fewer wells and lower costs, but a smaller space contributes to a higher production efficiency per well. If the space exceeds 600m, the accumulative production rate increases much more slightly. A three-dimension well trajectory consists of a vertical interval, an angle building interval, an angle holding interval, an angle building & direction changing interval, a direction turning interval as well as an absolute horizontal interval. Since Petrobras developed the first ever offshore deep reservoir (Lula) by scale in 2006, Brazil has been conducting a progressive campaign targeting hydrocarbons buried under deep water, which contributes to discovery of Lula, Carioca, Jupiter, Buzios, Libra and other giant presalt reservoirs in Santos Basin after Campos Basin, where there are 9 oil fields ranking among the top 20 offshore oil fields in terms of OOIP. This study demonstrates the flexibility trading process between a distribution system operator (dSO) and potential flexibility service providers (FSPs) using a framework consisting of a blockchain-based P2P trading platform and other auxiliary platforms. Within this framework, a demo study was conducted with real distribution system's assets and systems on the trading platform where the dSO specified its flexibility needs and FSPs were able to offer their flexibilities to support the dSO. In the study, vehicle-to-grid (V2G) compatible electric vehicle charging station and stationary battery storage system were used as flexible assets. The trading process was conducted within the specified time and price range through the platform, involving the FSPs and the dSO. As a result, the flexibility was provided to a local LV grid, leading to a 17% reduction in the load of the distribution transformer owned by the dSO.

The main aim of the work is to demonstrate in real-life the possibility to manage the flexible demand-side resources, including dC fast EV charger, V2G EV charger and batteries, in a smart manner to mitigate potential grid congestion problems. For this purpose, an intelligent “EV management platform” has been developed and used in the demonstration. Through this platform, the dSO can determine a threshold level for loading of the transformer based on historical loading data of the transformer and can determine the charge/discharge profiles for the equipment for the designated time, considering the charging preferences of electric vehicle users. The results from the demonstration showed that the demand-side resources can be dispatched automatically to satisfy the users' needs while effectively preventing the local grid congestion problems.

Acoustic wave is one of the important means to realize the fast and accurate transmission of downhole information. The drill string serving as information transmission channel has obvious periodic pipe structure characteristics. In order to study the frequency spectrum quality of drill string channel in actual working conditions, a multilevel evaluation method of acoustic frequency spectrum based on improved radar chart was provided. The influence of axial tension stress on the frequency spectrum characteristics of acoustic wave in pipe structure was studied and analyzed by the method, and the criteria for judging the frequency spectrum characteristics were established. Practice shows that, the existence of tensile stress has a significant impact on the acoustic frequency spectrum and passband characteristics. With the increase of tensile stress, the evaluation index of frequency spectrum characteristic increases first and then decreases, and there exists a peak point with the best frequency spectrum characteristic. This method can comprehensively reflect the influence of different factors on the frequency spectrum characteristics of acoustic wave in drill string channel, and comprehensively evaluate the distortion degree of frequency spectrum characteristics from the multiple perspectives. It provides a basis for optimizing carrier frequency and designing the installation position of repeater when dealing with multi-factors interference in the field application of downhole information acoustic transmission technology. © 2025 Beijing Kexue Jishu yu Gongcheng Zazhishe.
