We numerically investigate the seven-core photonic crystal fiber (PCF) with the zero dispersion wavelength designed in the range of 1000 - 1080 nm, particularly suitable for the ytterbium-doped fiber laser pumping. Also, the PCFs are well designed for obtaining a flat in-phase mode by carefully adjusting the diameter of inner layer six holes, and the corresponding empirical values of fiber structure are summarized and listed. The variations of inner six holes to the amplitude of in-phase mode are further investigated, and our results show that a better tolerance can be achieved in the fiber structures with lower filling ratio configuration.

In this paper, modeling, identification and control of a real 162MW heavy duty industrial gas turbine is taken into account. This work is aimed to introduce a simple and comprehensive model to test various controllers. rowen's model is used to present the mechanical behavior of the gas turbine, while the identification of it is done using a feedforward neural network. The control rules of the turbine are applied on both models and a comparison of the results is also presented.

In order to improve driver convenience, electronic tilt ＆ tele column is applied to a full sized car. To operate electronic tilt ＆ tele, it needs two motors and one electronic controller. Because of high cost component parts, it is difficult to apply to a midsize car. Meanwhile, to cope with regulations of fuel efficiency and emission, motor driven power steering system is applied to a full sized car from a small car. But MdPS （Markov decision processes） also consist of high cost component parts （motor and electronic controller）. This paper proposed the MdPS motor-driven electronic tilt ＆ tele column system which has single motor and an integrated electronic controller and introduced the detailed design study and evaluation results.

To test the hypothesis that mist sauna is a safer way of bathing than dry sauna, we compared changes in circulatory and thermoregulatory functions during 10 min sauna bathing in mist sauna at 40℃ with relative humidity of 100%, and in dry sauna by infrared ray at 70℃ with relative humidity of 15%. Subjects were seven healthy young men aged 29 ± 6 yrs (mean ± Sd). We measured blood pressure, heart rate, skin temperatures at chest, forearm, thigh, and leg, tympanic temperature (Tty) by thermistors, skin blood flow at forearm by laser doppler flowmetry, and sweat rate by ventilated capsule method at 1 min intervals throughout the experiment. Total sweating and change of hematocrit were also measured for dehydration analysis. Blood pressure was elevated more and changes in heart rate and total sweating were larger in dry sauna than mist. A significant hematocrit increase was observed in dry sauna bathing only. Mean skin temperature and Tty in dry sauna were elevated higher than those in mist. Heat stress of the dry sauna may be stronger than that of the mist, leading to dehydration and hypovolemia by sweating. Percent plasma volume loss was significantly larger in the dry than mist sauna. Changes in skin blood flow and sweat rate/Tty during mist sauna were significantly larger than those during dry sauna bathing despite heat stress of the mist sauna. The mist sauna bathing may thus be safer physiologically, and provide more effective vascular dilatation and sweating than the dry sauna bathing.

The MgO layers have been used as a protective layer in ac plasma display panels (ac-PdPs) due to their high stability against ion bombardment, low optical loss, high thermal stability, and good electrical insulating properties. Moreover, the MgO layers play a significant role in reducing the discharge voltage of ac-PdPs due to their high secondary electron emission capability and thus, various attempts to improve the characteristics of these layers have been reported 1 . However, for improving luminous efficiency of ac-PdPs, in case of increasing the Xe gas partial pressure, the discharge characteristics are much aggravated under the conventional MgO layer. Accordingly, the additional MgCaO crystal powders on the conventional MgO layer, that is called a functional layer, is used to overcome the demerits of the conventional MgO layer under higher Xe gas partial pressure. And also, Li-doped MgO layer is used to improve the MgO characteristics. In this study, the Li-doped MgO layer was deposited by an electron beam evaporation, and the MgCaO crystal powder was coated on the Li-doped MgO surface by a spray method in ac-PdPs.
