With recent advances in artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics, unmanned vehicle swarms have received great attention from both academia and industry due to their potential to provide services that are difficult and dangerous to perform by humans. However, learning and coordinating movements and actions for a large number of unmanned vehicles in complex and dynamic environments introduce significant challenges to conventional AI methods. Generative AI (GAI), with its capabilities in complex data feature extraction, transformation, and enhancement, offers great potential in solving these challenges of unmanned vehicle swarms. For that, this paper aims to provide a comprehensive survey on applications, challenges, and opportunities of GAI in unmanned vehicle swarms. Specifically, we first present an overview of unmanned vehicles and unmanned vehicle swarms as well as their use cases and existing issues. Then, an in-depth background of various GAI techniques together with their capabilities in enhancing unmanned vehicle swarms are provided. After that, we present a comprehensive review on the applications and challenges of GAI in unmanned vehicle swarms with various insights and discussions. Finally, we highlight open issues of GAI in unmanned vehicle swarms and discuss potential research directions. © 2024, CC BY.

The advent of a new breed of enhanced multimedia services has put network operators into a position where they must support innovative services while ensuring both end-to-end Quality of Service requirements and profitability. Recently, Network Function Virtualization (NFV) has been touted as a cost-effective underlying technology in 5G networks to efficiently provision novel services. These NFV-based services have been increasingly associated with multi-domain networks. However, several orchestration issues, linked to cross-domain interactions and emphasized by the heterogeneity of underlying technologies and administrative authorities, present an important challenge. In this paper, we tackle the cross-domain interaction issue by proposing an intelligent and profitable auction-based approach to allow inter-domains resource allocation. Quantum Walks can Unitarily Represent Random Walks on Finite Graphs

Quantum and random walks have been shown to be equivalent in the following sense: a time-dependent random walk can be constructed such that its vertex distribution at all time instants is identical to the vertex distribution of any discrete-time coined quantum walk on a finite graph. This equivalence establishes a deep connection between the two processes, far stronger than simply considering quantum walks as quantum analogues of classical random walks. The present work strengthens this connection by providing a construction that establishes this equivalence in the reverse direction: a unitary time-dependent quantum walk can be constructed such that its vertex distribution is identical to the vertex distribution of any random walk on a finite graph at all time instants. The construction shown here describes a quantum walk that matches a random walk without measurements at all time steps (an otherwise trivial statement): measurement is performed in a quantum walk that evolved unitarily until a given time t such that its vertex distribution is identical to the random walk at time t. The construction procedure is general, covering both homogeneous and non-homogeneous random walks. For homogeneous random walks, unitary evolution implies time dependency for the quantum walk, since homogeneous quantum walks do not converge under arbitrary initial conditions, while a broad class of random walks does. Thus, the absence of convergence demonstrated for quantum walks in its debut comes from both time-homogeneity and unitarity, rather than unitarity alone, and our results shed light on the power of quantum walks to generate samples for arbitrary probability distributions. Finally, the construction here proposed is used to simulate quantum walks that match uniform random walks on the cycle and the torus. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Education to the public on green products has been widely carried out. Consumers who buy green products can be profiled by segmenting green consumers. In green marketing, consumer education on sustainable consumption is increasingly needed in recent years due to the problem of environmental pollution which poses a serious threat to the world population. Concern for the environment is an important topic in most countries, and individuals also study environmental issues. Individuals or groups of individuals who are 'ecologically aware' are also referred to as 'green consumers.' Such consumers are considered to have more concern for the environment. This study examined the predictions on the effect of the Green Perceived Value variables consisting of functional, conditional, and social values on the purchase intention of green consumers. It also tested the comparisons with other classification models. The models used in this research were Random Forest, Decision Tree, and Neural Network.. © 2021 IEEE.

LayOut Loud is an AI-powered augmented reality (AR) and mobile application designed to revolutionize room interior design by offering tailored, real-time solutions for layout optimization. Maintaining railway tracks in healthy conditions is critical to ensuring the safe operation of railroad transportation. According to the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), nearly 23% of train accidents that occurred between 2015 to 2020 were due to the defects of the tracks. In an effort to prevent such accidents, railway companies regularly inspect tracks to detect and fix defects of track systems. This research proposes an innovative method for conducting railroad track inspection to enhance the maintenance operation. The proposed approach aims to overcome the existing inspection practices based on human observation that is costly, time-consuming, and error prone. To this end, the proposed method utilizes computer vision methodologies to achieve high-level automation and accuracy of defect detection through the analysis of digital images. The outcome of this study is envisioned to help railway companies perform predictive maintenance more effectively and, thereby, reduce the risk of train accidents and increase the resiliency of their assets. © 2021 IISE Annual Conference and Expo 2021. We introduce cytoNet, a cloud-based tool to characterize cell populations from microscopy images. cytoNet quantifies spatial topology and functional relationships in cell communities using principles of network science. Capturing multicellular dynamics through graph features, cytoNet also evaluates the effect of cell-cell interactions on individual cell phenotypes. We demonstrate cytoNet's capabilities in four case studies: 1) characterizing the temporal dynamics of neural progenitor cell communities during neural differentiation, 2) identifying communities of pain-sensing neurons in vivo, 3) capturing the effect of cell community on endothelial cell morphology, and 4) investigating the effect of laminin α4 on perivascular niches in adipose tissue. The analytical framework introduced here can be used to study the dynamics of complex cell communities in a quantitative manner, leading to a deeper understanding of environmental effects on cellular behavior. The versatile, cloud-based format of cytoNet makes the image analysis framework accessible to researchers across domains.

This study proposed a novel extraction method of c-Fos protein regions in DAB(3,3‘-diaminobenzidine)-stained mouse brain slice images using the U-Net model combined with the multi-channelization and $1\times 1$ convolution techniques. Our U-Net m odel, called $1\times 1$ conv U-Net, was applied to three DAB- strainedmouse slice images whose resolutions were $1000\mathrm{x}1000$ pixels. The experimental results demonstrated that the $1\times 1$ conv U-Net outperformed the conventional U-Net.

In agricultural water research, the adoption of Internet of Things (IoT) technology has emerged as a pivotal approach for large-scale data collection. Water availability in the context of water quality is very important, both for domestic and industrial purposes. For domestic purposes, drinking water and bathing water are separated. Meanwhile, for the palm oil industry, boiler filler is differentiated from additional process water (dilution water). Water quality parameters can be assessed from turbidity and Total Dissolve Solid (TDS). Measurements using measuring instruments separately and repeatedly require significant energy, time, and costs. This research was conducted with the primary objective of presenting a novel method for categorizing water quality with the approach of IoT sensor technology. The research methodology entailed the utilization of an integrated IoT water sensors system in conjunction with manual water categorization. The methods consist of (1) system design, (2) design and installation of sensor and IoT-based microcontrollers, and (3) accuracy and precision testing compared with laboratory measurements. The precision of the integrated IoT water sensors was assessed through a dedicated sensor precision test, resulting in an accuracy rate of 94.4% for the turbidity sensor and 97.5% for the TDS sensor. Notably, this approach successfully discriminated drinking water with valid categorization, while other water types, including groundwater, water with tea, and water with coffee, yielded null categorization results.

In this work, a photovoltaic (PV) microinverter is developed, which includes an hybrid energy storage system based on a battery and an ultracapacitor that are connected in parallel to the dc-link through two buck-boost bidirectional converters. The PV panel is connected in parallel to dc-link through an unidirectional boost converter. For the dc-ac stage, a two-stage Flyback / H-bridge inverter will be considered, which will be used to inject the available power into a microgrid. The study proposes the necessary control strategies to manage the power flow according to generation and injection conditions, where a virtual impedance loop is incorporated in the control of the energy storage elements. The presented results confirm the suitability of the proposed strategy.
