Cartilaginous fishes possess gel-filled tubular sensory organs called Ampullae of Lorenzini (AoL) that are used to detect electric fields. Although recent studies have identified various components of AoL gel, it has remained unclear how the molecules are structurally arranged and how their structure influences the function of the organs. Here we present the first structural description of AoL gel using microscopy and small angle x-ray scattering, revealing that the material is colloidal in nature. To assess the relative function of the gel’s protein constituents, we compared the microscopic structure, x-ray scattering, and proton conductivity properties of the gel before and after digestion with proteolytic enzymes. We discovered that while proteins were largely responsible for conferring the stiffness of the gel, their removal did not diminish proton conductivity. The findings described here lay the groundwork for more detailed studies into the specific interactions of molecules inside AoL gel at the nanoscale. © 2021, The Authors. All rights reserved.

An e-Commerce company has been using an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for several years, but is still constrained in its implementation, this is reflected in the number of issue/change request tickets submitted by users who have not been able to reach ideal conditions. To overcome this problem, we need an appropriate reference model, the ERP system user acceptance model in companies. The study conducted factors that influence the level of acceptance of SAP ERP users in the XYZ group to then determine a model that is able to explain practically the level of ERP system user acceptance, which in turn can produce concrete proposals to increase ERP system user acceptance. Research is quantitative descriptive using factor analysis and regression analysis methods. The research method uses a questionnaire with a total of 107 valid respondents coming from 8 company names under the XYZ group in 6 Southeast Asian countries. The conclusion of the study is that there are 24 indicators and 4 factors that influence user acceptance of the SAP ERP system. These four factors are the low contribution of the ERP system, the quality of ERP systems and data, the development of ERP systems, and also the low quality of ERP system supporters. It is hoped that by optimizing the value of the 4 factors, the XYZ group can increase user acceptance of the SAP ERP system so that the system can provide benefits expected by the company to be competitive advantage.

It is well accepted that an outward Marangoni convection from a low surface tension region will make the surface depressed. Here, we report that this established perception is only valid for thin liquid films. Using surface laser heating, we show that in deep liquids a laser beam actually pulls up the fluid above the free surface generating fountains with different shapes. Whereas with decreasing liquid depth a transition from fountain to indentation with fountain-in-indentation is observed. Further, high-speed imaging reveals a transient surface process before steady elevation is formed, and this dynamic deformation is subsequently utilized to resonantly excite giant surface waves by a modulated laser beam. Computational fluid dynamics models reveal the underlying flow patterns and quantify the depth-dependent and time-resolved surface deformations. Our discoveries and techniques have upended the century-old perception and opened up a new regime of interdisciplinary research and applications of Marangoni-induced interface phenomena and optocapillary fluidic surfaces - the control of fluids with light. © 2021, CC BY.

Software development depends on diverse technologies and methods and as a result, software development teams often handle issues in which team members are not experts. In order to address this lack of expertise, developers typically search for information on web-based Q&A sites such as Stack Overflow, a well-known place to find solutions to specific technology-related problems. The access to these web-based Q&A locations is currently not integrated into the software development environment, and because the associations between software development processes and the supporting sources of known solutions, usually referred to as knowledge, is not explicitly modeled and recorded, software developers often need to search for solutions to similar recurring issues multiple times. Moreover, this lack of integration hampers the implementation of a proactive recommender system that can point developers to knowledge that is relevant to their development processes. This research aims at proposing a solution that explicitly associates process elements (such as project tasks) to Stack Overflow posts and presents a recommender system that proactively recommends Stack Overflow posts to developers based on the similarity of project tasks. A literature review was used to find the concepts to define a meta-model for project tasks. This research paper advances the area of software development knowledge reuse by reporting on both the model and the results of experiments performed with real project development data. © 2018 Conferencia Iberoamericana de Software engineering - CIbSE. SYNAPTIC SPINE HEAD MORPHODYNAMICS FROM GRAPH GRAMMAR RULES FOR ACTIN DYNAMICS

There is a morphodynamic component to synaptic learning by which changes in dendritic (postsynaptic) spine head size are associated with the strengthening or weakening of the synaptic connection between two neurons, in response to the temporal correlation of local presynaptic and postsynaptic signals. These morphological factors are in turn sculpted by the dynamics of the actin cytoskeleton. In this paper, we use Dynamical Graph Grammars (DGGs) implemented within a computer algebra system to model how networks of actin filaments can dynamically grow or shrink, reshaping the spine head. Dynamical Graph Grammars (DGGs) provide a well-defined way to accommodate dynamically changing system structure such as active cytoskeleton represented using dynamic graphs, within nonequilibrium statistical physics under the master equation. We show that DGGs can also incorporate biophysical forces between graph-connected objects at a finer time scale, with specialized DGG kinetic rules obeying biophysical constraints of Galilean invariance, conservation of momentum, and dissipation of conserved global energy. We use graph-local energy functions for cytoskeleton networks interacting with membranes, and derive DGG rules from the specialization of dissipative stochastic dynamics - separated into dissipative and thermal noise rule types - to a mutually exclusive and exhaustive collection of graph-local neighborhood types for the rule left hand sides. The dissipative rules comprise a stochastic version of gradient descent dynamics. The thermal noise rules use a Gaussian approximation of each position coordinate to sample jitter-like displacements. For the spine head model we designed and implemented DGG grammar mathematical sub-models including actin network growth, non-equilibrium statistical mechanics, and filament-membrane mechanical interaction to regulate the re-writing of graph objects. It is expected that managing process variations and organizing process domain knowledge in a reusable way can provide support to handle complexity in software process definition. In this context, the purpose of this paper is to describe a systematic software process reuse methodology, by combining process reuse techniques, such as Software Process Line and Component Based Process Definition, aiming to increase reuse possibilities. SPrL approach manages the variability aspect inherent to software process domain and CBPD focuses on modularizing the domain process information into process components. The proposed SPrL modelling metamodel and notation address reusable process elements, explicitly representing the variability concept in both process domain structure and behaviour. Based on the results of the evaluation studies, it was possible to get evidences of the approach feasibility, with a higher expressiveness when using the process variability notation proposed, which allow that more semantic concepts inherent to SPrL scenarios can be graphically described. Also, the set of heuristics to support mappings among artefacts in distinct abstraction levels was considered useful to keep the traceability of variability properties, relationships and restrictions. Further research is being conducted to explore ways to support project managers during the decision-making in new software process definitions. © 2018 by SCITEPRESS - science and Technology Publications, Lda.

Analysis of an individual’s immunoglobulin or T cell receptor gene repertoire can provide important insights into immune function. High-quality analysis of adaptive immune receptor repertoire sequencing data depends upon accurate and relatively complete germline sets, but current sets are known to be incomplete. Established processes for the review and systematic naming of receptor germline genes and alleles require specific evidence and data types, but the discovery landscape is rapidly changing. To exploit the potential of emerging data, and to provide the field with improved state-of-the-art germline sets, an intermediate approach is needed that will allow the rapid publication of consolidated sets derived from these emerging sources. These sets must use a consistent naming scheme and allow refinement and consolidation into genes as new information emerges. Name changes should be minimised, but, where changes occur, the naming history of a sequence must be traceable. Here we outline the current issues and opportunities for the curation of germline IG/TR genes and present a forward-looking data model for building out more robust germline sets that can dovetail with current established processes and provides transparency based on principles of findability, accessibility, interoperability, and reusability. We describe results obtained by applying the data model and associated principles within the AIRR Community, including supporting software and databases. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Document management system makes user to access information anytime and anywhere. The purpose of this research is to analyze what variables have impact on the intention to use of document management system. To achieve the objectives conducted by identification problem on the research model developed from the model of Technology Acceptance Model and Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology to the use of document management system. Furthermore, the data obtained from the respondents tested outer model, inner model test, hypothesis test and to produce a comprehensive analysis will be conducted Importance Performance Analysis. This research will result in a comprehensive analysis and able to provide recommendations and solutions for improvement from the implementation DMS has been done earlier. © 2018 IEEE.
