The combination of testing techniques is considered an effective strategy to evaluate a software product. However, the selection of which techniques to combine in a software project has been an interesting challenge in the Software engineering field. This paper presents a proposal extending an approach developed to support the combined selection of model-based testing (MBT) techniques, named Porantim, applying Multiobjective Combinatorial Optimization strategy by determining the smallest dominating set in a bipartite and weighted graph. Thus, a local search strategy algorithm is proposed generating solutions aiming at maximizing the coverage of software project characteristics and skills required by the testing team to use the techniques and minimizing the eventual effort to construct models used for test cases generation. A preliminary evaluation analyzes this new approach when compared to the Porantim's original version, and the results indicate improvements in the MBT techniques selection. © 2011 IEEE.

The low-frequency 1/f noise in graphene transistors has been studied extensively owing to the proposed graphene applications in analog devices and communication systems [1-5]. The studies were motivated by the fact that the low-frequency noise can be up-converted by device nonlinearity and contribute to the phase noise of the system. Similarly, the sensor sensitivity is often limited by the electronic low-frequency noise. Therefore, noise is usually considered as one of the main limiting factors for the device or overall system operation. However, the electronic noise spectrum itself can be used as a sensing parameter increasing the sensor sensitivity and selectivity. Here, we show that vapors of different chemicals produce distinguishably different effects on the low-frequency noise spectra of the graphene-on-Si transistor. Our study showed that some gases change the electrical resistance of pristine graphene devices without changing their low-frequency noise spectra while other gases modify the noise spectra by inducing Lorentzian components with distinctive features. The characteristic corner frequency f C of the Lorentzian noise bulges in graphene devices is different for different chemicals and varies from f C =10 - 20 Hz for tetrahydrofuran to f C =1300 - 1600 Hz for chloroform. We tested the selected set of chemicals vapors on different graphene device samples and alternated different vapors for the same samples. The obtained results indicate that 1/f noise in combination with other sensing parameters can allow one to achieve the selective gas sensing with a single pristine graphene transistor. Our method of gas sensing with graphene does not require graphene surface functionalization or fabrication of an array of the devices with each tuned to a certain chemical. The observation of the Lorentzian components in the vapor-exposed graphene can also help in developing an accurate theoretical description of the noise mechanism in graphene.

Dynamism of day-to-day activities in organizations is inextricably linked and there is a variety of information, insight and reasoning being processed between people and systems, in carrying out a business process. We argue that flexibility in processes could be managed in real time, using context information collected in the work environment. This paper proposes a context management architecture approach that aims to improve and automate dynamic process adaptation. The Ray Tracing rendering algorithm can produce high-fidelity images of 3-D scenes, including shadow effects, as well as reflections and transparencies. This is currently done at a processing speed of at most 30 frames per second. Therefore, actual implementations of the algorithm are not yet suitable for interactive real-time rendering, which is required in games and virtual reality based applications. Fortunately, the algorithm allows for massive parallelization of its computations. In this paper, we present a parallel architecture for ray tracing based on a uniform spatial subdivision of the scene and exploiting an embedded computation of ray-triangle intersections. This approach allows for a significant acceleration of intersection computations, as well as, a reduction of the total number of the required intersections checks. Furthermore, it allows for these checks to be performed in parallel and in advance for each ray. In this paper we discuss and analyze an ASIP-based implementation using FPGAs and a GPGPU-based parallel implementation of the proposed architecture. The performance of both implementations are reported and compared." © 2011 IEEE.

Organizations have been relying on collaboration for productivity improvement and knowledge sharing. The first step to foster collaboration in organizations is to make it explicit. With this aim, the Collaboration Maturity Model (CollabMM) was proposed and evaluated. The lessons learned during model applications in previous work pointed out the need to review both the model and its evaluation instruments. A literature review also showed some improvement opportunities. Therefore, the objective of this work is to develop a roadmap to highlight the main opportunities of evolution in CollabMM. These opportunities will compose our research agenda in this topic and guide future work. © 2011 IEEE.

Software Product Lines (SPLs) have been used to develop mobile and context-aware applications, which provide services and data for their users from anywhere and at any time using context information. In SPLs, commonality and variability of a system family are identified and often documented in a feature model. However, the development of a feature model for mobile and context-aware SPLs is not trivial, since it should comprise system and context information. Furthermore, the consistency check of feature models in the considered domain is also complex and demands advanced skills of software engineers. This paper proposes a mechanism to formalize and verify the correctness and consistency of feature models for mobile and context-aware SPLs based on a profile enriched with OCL specifications. © 2011 IEEE.

Effective exploitation of the application-specific parallel patterns and computation operations through their direct implementation in hardware is the base for construction of high-quality application-specific (re-) configurable application specific instruction set processors (ASIPs) and hardware accelerators for modern highly-demanding applications. Although it receives a lot of attention from the researchers and practitioners, a very important problem of hardware reuse in ASIP and accelerator synthesis is clearly underestimated and does not get enough attention in the published research. This paper is an effect of an industry and academic collaborative research. It analyses the problem of hardware sharing, shows its high practical relevance, as well as a big influence of hardware sharing on the major circuit and system parameters, and its importance for the multi-objective optimization and tradeoff exploitation. It also demonstrates that the state-of-the-art synthesis tools do not sufficiently address this problem and gives several guidelines related to enhancement of the hardware reuse. © 2011 IEEE.

Visualization of signalized intersections in driving simulator and validity of driving behaviors in virtual environments

Visualization of highway traffic environments in virtual reality plays a key role on fidelity of simulation and validity of driving behaviors in driving simulator studies. This paper describes a procedure to replicate a signalized intersection with many complex features into a driving simulator's 3-D databases through building a graphical visual database, constructing a road motion database, and creating simulated traffic. The validity of the visualization was assessed via the comparison of the drivers' speeds in the simulator and the speed data at the real intersection. It was found that both speed data follow normal distributions and have equal means for each intersection approach;however, that the speeds measured in the driving simulator have a larger variability than those measured in the field. The users' subjective evaluation results indicated that 92% subjects could recognize the simulated intersection in the driving simulator experiment. Therefore, the strategy of geo-specific environment modeling would be useful for studying driving behaviors in virtual environments.
