The camera is affected by illumination changes and vignetting effect during the shooting process, resulting in the lack of brightness information, which affects the accuracy of target detection. In order to reduce the impact of illumination changes and vignetting effect on image quality, obtain images closer to the real scene, and improve the accuracy of target detection, this paper conducts photometric calibration on the image from two aspects: the calibration of CRF (Camera Response Function) and the compensation function of vignetting effect. This paper first uses the N-degree polynomial model to construct the camera response function, proposes a functional model of vignetting compensation based on the position of the pixel point, and finally combines the first two experimental results and conducts experimental verification on the data set before and after the photometric calibration on different algorithms of target detection. The experimental results show that the application of photometric calibration in the field of machine vision can improve the adaptability of machine vision to illumination changes and vignetting effect to a certain extent. The self-made data set is trained and tested, when IoU is 0.7, the mAP calculated by the test set after photometric calibration is improved by 2.3% compared with the original data set. © 2021 IEEE.

The requirements for the field of view (FoV) of the perception-based autonomous driving system for tram are proposed. The range and composition of the FoV, combined with the specific systematic and controlling characteristics of the rail transit systems, are first analyzed, focusing on the features and applications, then the criteria for designing the FoV for the autonomous driving system for tram can be concluded and further referenced by the designers, manufacturers, operators and researchers of such system. © 2021 IEEE.

A New Image Quality Database for Multiple Industrial Processes

Recent years have witnessed a broader range of applications of image processing technologies in multiple industrial processes, such as smoke detection, security monitoring, and workpiece inspection. Different kinds of distortion types and levels must be introduced into an image during the processes of acquisition, compression, transmission, storage, and display, which might heavily degrade the image quality and thus strongly reduce the final display effect and clarity. To verify the reliability of existing image quality assessment methods, we establish a new industrial process image database (IPID), which contains 3000 distorted images generated by applying different levels of distortion types to each of the 50 source images. We conduct the subjective test on the aforementioned 3000 images to collect their subjective quality ratings in a well-suited laboratory environment. Finally, we perform comparison experiments on IPID database to investigate the performance of some objective image quality assessment algorithms. The experimental results show that the state-of-the-art image quality assessment methods have difficulty in predicting the quality of images that contain multiple distortion types. In the field of railway transportation, with the continuous improvement of train running speed and the continuous increase of operating mileage, it becomes particularly important to ensure the safety and integrity of small-target infrastructure along the railway train. Although many small-target detection methods have been proposed, the research on small-target infrastructure detection along rail trains is very rare. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a small-target infrastructure detection network with spatial tracking and multi-level feature extraction based on Yolov8n. The experimental results show that ST-YOLO has a 3.6% mAP improvement on the OSDaR23 dataset compared to the baseline Yolov8n, and shows significant advantages over other state-of-the-art methods.

A cloud platform for engineering drawing course teaching was proposed based on cloud station. The cloud station can solve the common problems existed in engineering drawing course, such as the difficulty of teaching, the heavy work of tutorship, the poor teaching effect, the weak spatial imagination of students, as well as the current difficulty to develop the virtual model resource base and the interaction is not strong. The platform uses Solidworks software to build 3D model library, and combines with CADbro's powerful cloud service and 3D file viewing function to realize the interaction and sharing with cloud model by using web browser. At the same time, we choose bilibili, a popular cultural site for teenagers, to release the explanation videos of exercises, and make use of the convenient way to build the cloud station to integrate, release and manage the resources. The platform realizes self-study and self-test at anytime and anywhere on both PC and mobile devices, and fast jumps the corresponding explanation video and cloud virtual model according to the demand. The virtual model in the cloud can be rotated, cut, distance measured, exploded, parts hidden, moved, 2D viewed and so on by touch. The platform is innovative, extensible, interesting and practical, which can greatly enhance the students' enthusiasm for independent learning, and it can be used reference to the development of engineering drawing teaching resources.

In the context of engineering education, to improve the practical engineering skills of engineering students, the teaching ideas and implementation methods of the curriculum are designed based on Outcome-based Education. A blended teaching approach was used to design the implementation process to achieve the curriculum objectives. In this paper, we explain the process of blended teaching from the two aspects of basic knowledge and competency training. Active learning of basic knowledge is implemented based on a three-step blended teaching model before, after, and during classes. It adopts the project-driven learning approach of the flipped classroom model and cultivates students' ability to solve complex engineering problems through collaborative group and intra-group mutual assessment. Based on the original objective assessment of the curriculum and under the current teaching model, we design a diversified evaluation approach to comprehensively assess the effectiveness of student competence achievement. Practice has shown that project-based inquiry-based teaching methods based on the flipped classroom model can promote learning outcomes for students and increase their interest in learning. It avoids the blind and aimless theoretical learning process of the student and improves the practical ability of the student. The methods and means of instruction of teachers have been further extended, and the ability of students to learn independently has been improved.

engineering drawing is a compulsory technical foundation course for mechanical majors. Its main task is to cultivate students' ability to draw and read engineering drawings. The content of this course is complicated and abstract and not easy to understand, which makes it difficult for students to learn. Mind mapping is a visual thinking tool to systematize and organize abstract and complicated knowledge. Taking the application of mind mapping to various teaching processes of engineering drawing course, such as the construction of framework, the sorting out of fragmented knowledge, the solution of drawing geometry and sectional view, and the group project for important and difficult content as examples, we illustrate the importance of mind map in cultivating students' knowledge generalization ability, independent learning ability, enhancing students' logical thinking, creative thinking, divergent thinking, and stimulating students' interest in learning.

In the field of telemetry, track, and command system, this study presents a phased array antenna control system for achieving multi-target tracking tasks through a set of systems. Firstly, electric beam scanning of a planar array phased array antenna is used in this paper to implement multi-target tracking. In addition, the phased array antenna is mounted on the antenna pedestal, which can operate on the azimuth and elevation mechanical axes. Thirdly, the mechanical scanning method of the azimuth-elevation antenna pedestal and the beam scanning method of the phased array antenna are combined to realize multi-target tracking tasks. Finally, the experiments of flight tracking are completed by employing the technique of UAV tagging, and the results validate the viability of the system.

In recent years, deep learning has been successfully applied in object detection of remote sensing images, due to its powerful feature extraction and representation capabilities. However, it usually ignores the relationships among different objects, which greatly hinders the further improvement of the detection precision. In this paper, a novel object relationship graph reasoning deep learning method is proposed for object detection of remote sensing images. The reasoning is carried out on a graph constructed by region proposals. It mainly contains three modules for relationship generation in consideration of different factors that related to object detection: 1) Location-based relationship generation module (LRGM) aims to find spatial relationships among objects according to their positions;2) Feature-based relationship generation module (FRGM) focuses on mining semantic relationships among objects according to their appearances that implied in feature maps and 3) Class-dependent relationship generation module (CRGM) introduces class dependencies into the relationship generation process. Class dependencies are the prior knowledge that is obtained by computing class co-occurrence. The experimental results on a public twenty-class remote sensing object detection dataset have shown that the proposed method has better detection performance compared to other object detection deep networks with no considering object relationships. © 2021 IEEE.

The collision-free straight-line following of an unmanned surface vehicle(USV)moving in a constrained water region subject to stationary and moving obstacles is addressed in this *** systems are normally subjected to surge velocity constraints,yaw rate constraints,and unknown ocean ***,a safety-certificated line-of-sight(LOS)guidance method is proposed to achieve a constrained straight-line following ***,an antidisturbance LOS guidance law is designed based on the LOS guidance scheme and an extended state ***,collision avoidance with waterway boundaries and stationary/moving obstacles is encoded in control barrier functions,utilizing which the safety constraints are transformed into input ***,safety-certificated guidance signals are obtained by solving a quadratic programming problem subject to input *** the proposed safety-certified LOS guidance method,the USV can accomplish a straight-line following task with guaranteed input-to-state *** results substantiate the efficacy of the proposed safety-certificated LOS guidance method for the straight-line following of USVs moving in a constrained water region subject to unknown ocean currents.
