This paper addresses the global consensus problem for multi-input multi-output saturated systems within a sampled-data framework, aiming to advance global consensus, manage heterogeneous actuator saturation across components, and preserve distributed characteristics by using sampled-data feedback. We propose a distributed control algorithm that incorporates a redesigned saturation function, represented as decentralized dynamic saturation levels. These levels for each agent’s dimensions are autonomously updated through an adaptive strategy, which mitigates heterogeneous saturation by carefully selecting constant and time-varying saturation parameters in it. Lyapunov analysis proves that global consensus can be achieved under the proposed control law, provided the sampling periods of all agents remain below a calculated threshold. An example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of this approach.

As a promising energy storage matter, two-dimensional (2D) layered double hydroxides (LDHs) suffer from a lower specific capacitance and poor retention. Morphology engineering is deemed to be an effective means. Herein, three-dimensional (3D) nickel-vanadium hydrotalcite (NiV-LDHs) with ball-flower structure are synthesized successfully via a facile dynamic-refluxing route, such a green strategy dispenses with template and high pressure and generates a specific surface area as high as 61.6 m 2 /g. Then, the screen-printed inks with outstanding rheological performances are formulated and the resulting electrodes display superior hydrophilic performance. Benefitted from the 3D architecture and shear flow process, the NiV-LDHs electrode can deliver an enhanced specific capacitance of 1069 F/g at 1 A/g with cycling stability of ~68.0% after 1500 cycles at 20 A/g, in contrast with that of NiV-LDHs prepared by coprecipitation (848 F/g and ~5.1%). Furthermore, an asymmetric NiV-LDHs//activated carbon supercapacitor (ASC) is assembled, which can yield a remarkable energy density of 75.8 μWh/cm2 at a power density of 0.80 mW/cm2, and two ASCs in series can illuminate a red light (2.5 V) for more than 270 s. Therefore, this study proposes a facile and economic strategy to prepare 3D nanomaterial for advanced and flexible printable energy storage devices. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

BoostTree and BoostForest for Ensemble Learning

Bootstrap aggregating (Bagging) and boosting are two popular ensemble learning approaches, which combine multiple base learners to generate a composite model for more accurate and more reliable performance. They have been widely used in biology, engineering, healthcare, etc. This article proposes BoostForest, which is an ensemble learning approach using BoostTree as base learners and can be used for both classification and regression. BoostTree constructs a tree model by gradient boosting. It achieves high randomness (diversity) by sampling its parameters randomly from a parameter pool, and selecting a subset of features randomly at node splitting. BoostForest further increases the randomness by bootstrapping the training data in constructing different BoostTrees. BoostForest outperformed four classical ensemble learning approaches (Random Forest, Extra-Trees, XGBoost and LightGBM) on 34 classification and regression datasets. Remarkably, BoostForest has only one hyper-parameter (the number of BoostTrees), which can be easily specified. This paper proposes a new reduced-order dynamic output-feedback protocol to solve the bipartite consensus problem of homogeneous linear multi-agent systems. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the solvability of the bipartite consensus problem are derived and the consensus state trajectories are obtained in an explicit form. Compared with existing results, the novelties of the proposed protocol are two-fold: Firstly, the protocol relies on relative output information of agents within each group and secondly, the protocol state ultimately converges to zero if bipartite consensus is reached. Furthermore, a numerical example is given to show the effectiveness of the proposed protocol. © 2021 IEEE

This paper addresses the 6D challenge of monocular 6D pose estimation on small targets and weak texture objects. We propose a monocular object pose estimation algorithm, High Resolution Object Pose Estimation (HRPE) based on the high-resolution feature representation, which detects the 2D keypoints and uses the Perspective-n-Point (PnP) algorithm to compute the 6D pose. HRPE can maintain high-resolution feature representation through parallel convolution of multi-resolution feature branches and repeated cross-scale fusion, generating more precise pose estimation. Experimental results show that HRPE surpasses the existing state-of-the-arts, and achieves a significant accuracy improvement for small objects, which demonstrates the effectiveness of high-resolution feature representation on pose estimation. © 2021 IEEE

Emotion recognition, which aims to identify an individual’s emotional state from the acquired physiological or body signals, is very important in affective computing. Emotions have two common representations: categorical, e.g., happy, sad, etc., and dimensional (continuous), e.g., valence, arousal and dominance. Training a good emotion classification or regression model usually requires a large number of labeled data. However, the labeling process is very difficult. As emotions are subtle and uncertain, it usually requires multiple assessors to label each emotional instance to obtain the groundtruth categorical label or dimensional values. In this paper, we propose a multi-task active learning (MTAL) framework to query the most useful samples for labeling, which enables the efficient training of an emotion classification model and multiple emotion regression models simultaneously. This is novel and challenging, as all previous research considered only emotion classification or regression alone, but not simultaneously. Experimental results on the IEMOCAP dataset demonstrated that MTAL outperformed random selection and several state-of-the-art single task active learning approaches, i.e., with the same number of labeled samples, MTAL can obtain better emotion classification and regression models simultaneously.

Aiming at the sudden change of load torque and uncertain external disturbance that multi-axis serial manipulators may face during operation, an improved Active Disturbance Rejection controller (ADRC) assisted by a Nonlinear Disturbance Observer (NLDOB) is designed and implemented in this paper. ADRC realizes the estimation and compensation of known model parameter perturbation, and NLDOB is introduced to estimate and compensate the load torque and other unmodeled dynamic factors of the manipulator. Meanwhile, the lumped control object model of three-bar mechanism and permanent magnet DC motor is established, and the control response curves of improved ADRC, traditional ADRC, and PID under the same conditions are compared and analyzed through simulation. The experimental results show that compared with the traditional ADRC and PID, the improved ADRC has faster response speed, smaller overshoot and stronger robustness.

We study the problem of inference attack in distributed optimization, with adversarial agents aiming to obtain the sensitive information of some critical agent in a network. Different from existing privacy-preserving and resilient distributed optimization algorithms, we propose inference algorithms from the perspective of launching well-designed attacks to help infer sensitive local information. The key idea is that by utilizing the critical agent’s neighborhood information and the predefined update protocol, adversarial agents can not only interpolate the gradient of its local objective function, but also manipulate it to converge to its own local minimizer. The proposed algorithms can thus obtain approximations of the gradient or the minimizer of the local objective of this critical agent. We characterize the performance through interpolation errors, as well as distances to the optimal value and optimal point of the local objective. Numerical simulations are presented to verify the effectiveness of these algorithms.

Change detection has always been a crucial task in remote sensing fields, and there have already been great efforts made on it for decades. However, as high resolution (HR) remote sensing images generally contain abundant ground details, it still faces a huge challenge for their change detection, especially from the aspects of change detection accuracy and speed. Concerning this issue, a novel lightweight Siamese deep network (LSDNet) is proposed, and it combines Convolution-Involution Module (CIM) and Ensemble Coordinate Attention Module (ECAM) for boosting the change detection of HR remote sensing images. CIM summarizes the context of ground objects and reweights the importance of different positions, while ECAM aggregates multiple levels of semantic features and pays different attention to different spatial information. The experiments on CNZ data set have shown that the proposed LSDNet performs better than state-of-the-art (SOTA) change detection methods, especially it improves the accuracy by 1.92% and reduces the amount of model parameters by 32.89% compared to SNUNet-CD which has the best performance currently. © 2021 11th International Workshop on Computer Science and Engineering, WCSE 2021. This paper proposes a novel two-level electricity and hydrogen market framework for multi-microgrids (MMGs) coupled with offsite hydrogen refueling stations (HRSs), aiming to strengthen the synergy between electricity and hydrogen. The local hydrogen market among the MMG and HRSs is modeled by multi-leader multi-follower Stackelberg game theory, in which microgrids play the role of leaders to adjust hydrogen prices while HRSs participate as followers to determine their hydrogen purchase scheme. Moreover, to deal with economic and technical issues of the MMG in a holistic manner, Nash bargaining theory is used to model the electricity transaction among microgrids. A distributed algorithm is developed to solve such games, thus reducing the cost of information communication and the risk of privacy exposure. The case study demonstrates that this market mechanism guarantees benefits for all parties and boosts the independence of MMGs by reducing transactions with the main grid.
