BACKGROUND Enhancing awareness and use of pre-exposure prophylaxis(PrEP)and postexposure prophylaxis(PEP)is vital to curb human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)***-risk behaviors prevalent among sexually transmitted infection clinic outpatients underscore the need for increased PrEP/PEP education in this *** To investigate the effects of both onsite and online health education on the knowledge of,and willingness to use,PrEP and PEP among individuals receiving PEP *** Participants were drawn from a cohort study on PEP service intervention at an std/aids outpatient clinic in designated HIV/aids hospitals in Beijing,conducted from January 1 to June 30,*** education was provided both onsite and online during *** assessing knowledge of,and willingness to use,PrEP/PEP were administered at baseline and again at 24 wk *** A total of 112 participants were enrolled in the study;105 completed the follow-up at week *** percentage of participants with adequate knowledge of,and willingness to use,PrEP significantly increased from 65.2%and 69.6%at baseline to 83.8%and 82.9%at the end of the intervention(both P<0.05).Similarly,those with adequate knowledge of,and willingness to use,PEP increased from 74.1%and 77.7%at baseline to 92.4%and 89.5%at week 24(P<0.05).Being between 31 years and 40 years of age,having a postgraduate degree or higher,and reporting a monthly expenditure of RMB 5000 or more were found to be significantly associated with knowledge of PrEP and PEP(both P<0.05).CONCLUSION The findings show that both onsite and online health education significantly improved the knowledge of,and increased willingness to use,PrEP and PEP in individuals utilizing PEP services.

In China, a pilot project for the prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) of the HIV was initiated in 2001. For the PMTCT of HIV, the Chinese government has released versions of the guidelines since 2004. In 2014, the World Health Organization released guidance on global processes and criteria for the validation of elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV and syphilis. To promote the elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B virus in China, the Chinese government updated the Guideline for PMTCT of HIV, Syphilis, and Hepatitis B in 2020 (briefly as Guideline-2020). The Guideline-2020 comprises 5 parts: goals, interventions, support measures, duties and cooperation of departments, and definition indicators for PMTCT of HIV and corresponding calculation formulas. Compared with the previous versions, the key points updated in the Guideline-2020 are that the goals are set again, and health education and promotion, the procedure of HIV testing for pregnant women, and the antiretroviral therapy regimen for HIV-positive pregnant women and antiretroviral) prophylaxis regimen for infants are all updated. The antiretroviral prophylaxis regimen as zidovudine-lamivudine-nevirapine/lopinavir/ritonavir twice per day for 6 weeks is recommended for infants at high exposure risk to HIV, whereas the third antiretroviral therapy regimen as tenofovir-lamivudine-lopinavir/ritonavir is recommended for HIV-positive pregnant women, and indicators for PMTCT of HIV and corresponding calculation formulas are defined.

Introduction:The triglyceride to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(TG/HDL-C)ratio,a novel biomarker for metabolic syndrome(MetS),has been validated in the general population as being significantly correlated with cardiovascular disease(CVD)***,its capabilities to predict CVD in people living with human immunodeficiency virus(HIV;PLWH)remain ***:We conducted a retrospective cohort study of 16,081 PLWH who initiated antiretroviral therapy(ART)at the Third People’s Hospital of Shenzhen(China)from 2005 to *** baseline TG/HDL-C ratio was calculated as TG(mmol/L)divided by HDL-C(mmol/L).We employed a multivariate Cox proportional hazards model to assess the association between the TG/HDL-C ratio and CVD occurrence,using Kaplan-Meier curves and log-rank tests to compare survival *** increase in prediction risk upon the addition of the biomarker to the conventional risk model was examined through the assessment of changes in net reclassification improvement(NRI)and integrated discrimination improvement(IDI).Nonlinear relationships were investigated using a restricted cubic spline plot,complemented by a two-piecewise Cox proportional hazards model to analyze threshold ***:At the median follow-up of 70 months,213 PLWH developed ***-Meier curves demonstrated a significant association between the increased risk of CVD and a higher TG/HDL-C ratio(log-rank P<0.001).The multivariate-adjusted Cox proportional hazards regression model indicated that the CVD hazard ratios(HR)(95%confidence intervals[95%CIs])for Q2,Q3,and Q4 versus Q1 of the TG/HDL-C ratio were 2.07(1.24,3.45),2.17(1.32,3.57),and 2.20(1.35,3.58),respectively(P<0.05).The consideration of the TG/HDL-C ratio in the model,which included all significant factors for CVD incidence,improved the predictive risk,as indicated by the reclassification metrics(NRI 16.43%,95%CI 3.35%-29.52%,P=0.014).The restriction cubic spline plot demonstrated an upward trend betw

Acquired immune deficiency syndrome(aids)is caused by human immunodeficiency virus(HIV),which was found by French scientists 40 years ago,12 years after aids was firstly reported by US scientists.2 TheHIV/aids pandemic has spread to every country of theworldwith over 84 million infections and more than 40 million deaths since the start of the epidemic.3 According to Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/aids(UNaids),there are 38.4 million people living with HIV/aids(PLWHA)in 2021.4 In order to realize the Ending aids Plan by 2030,the UNaids made the intermediate target of less than 500,000 new HIV infections and 500,000 aids-related deaths in 2020.5 In the 2021 United Nations(UN)75th General Assembly,the General Secretary reported that the 2020 target of Ending aids Plan was not reached,6 with 1.7 million HIV infections and 690,000 aids-related deaths in 2019.7 In order to bring the Ending aids Plan back on track,UNaids setup a higher goal of“95-95-95,”meaning the percentage for all PLWHA who know their HIV status.

Advancements in high-throughput sequencing(HTS)of antibody repertoires(Ig-Seq)have unprecedentedly improved our ability to characterize the antibody repertoires on a large ***,currently,only a few studies explored the influence of chronic HIV-1 infection on human antibody repertoires and many of them reached contradictory conclusions,possibly limited by inadequate sequencing depth and *** better understand how HIV-1 infection would impact humoral immune system,in this study,we systematically analyzed the differences between the IgM(HIV-IgM)and IgG(HIV-IgG)heavy chain repertoires of HIV-1 infected patients,as well as between antibody repertoires of HIV-1 patients and healthy donors(HH).Notably,the public unique clones accounted for only a negligible proportion between the HIV-IgM and HIV-IgG repertoires libraries,and the diversity of unique clones in HIV-IgG remarkably *** aspect of somatic mutation rates of CDR1 and CDR2,the HIV-IgG repertoire was higher than ***,the average length of CDR3 region in HIV-IgM was significant longer than that in the HH repertoire,presumably caused by the great number of novel VDJ rearrangement patterns,especially a massive use of ***,some of the B cell clonotypes had numerous clones,and somatic variants were detected within the clonotype lineage in HIV-IgG,indicating HIV-1 neutralizing *** in-depth characterization of HIV-IgG and HIV-IgM repertoires enriches our knowledge in the profound effect of HIV-1 infection on human antibody repertoires and may have practical value for the discovery of therapeutic antibodies.
