In this paper, an IRS-aided integrated sensing and communications (ISAC) system operating in the terahertz (THz) band is proposed to maximize the system capacity. Transmit beamforming and phase-shift design are transformed into a universal optimization problem with ergodic constraints. Then the joint optimization of transmit beamforming and phase-shift design is achieved by gradient-based, primal-dual proximal policy optimization (PPO) in the multi-user multiple-input single-output (MISO) scenario. Specifically, the actor part generates continuous transmit beamforming and the critic part takes charge of discrete phase shift design. Based on the MISO scenario, we investigate a distributed PPO (DPPO) framework with the concept of multi-threading learning in the multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) scenario. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the primal-dual PPO algorithm and its multi-threading version in terms of transmit beamforming and phase-shift design. © 2022, CC BY.

In the process of steel plate production, predicting the plate shape is of great significance for producing high-quality and consistently stable plate shapes. This paper presents a model that predicts both the defect types and flatness of the plate, providing theoretical support for setting process parameters in roller quenching production. First, the parameters of the quenching process are analyzed to identify their characteristics. Then, the K-Means clustering algorithm and correlation analysis are employed to process the quenching process parameters. A gradient boosting decision tree (GBDT) model is used to predict the defect types and flatness of the steel plates. Finally, industrial production data is utilized for experimental validation. The obtained experimental results verify the reliability of the proposed method.

With the rapid advances in computer vision, human action recognition has gradually received attention, but the current methods still exhibit some problems in indoor environments. The human skeleton, as the framework of human motion, contains high-quality actional feature information, and the skeleton-based action recognition method effectively avoid the interference of interior background noise and has advantages in indoor action recognition. The outstanding effect of graph convolutional networks on graph structure data processing has led to its rapid development and wide application in skeleton-based action recognition. Second-order skeletal information also contains a large number of actional features but is not effectively utilized. The artificial predefined topology of the human skeleton map has limitations, and cannot reflect the interaction between limbs. To solve the above problems, this article designs an adaptive weighted multi-stream graph convolutional network (AM-GCN) based on skeletal information, using an attention mechanism to enhance the network's ability to extract actional features, and an adaptive layer to make the construction graph more flexible, incorporating second-order skeletal features through a dual-stream architecture. In this article, the NTU-RGB+D dataset has been used for the experiments, the results show that the method in this article has good results.

Open quantum systems are a topic of intense theoretical research. The use of master equations to model a system's evolution subject to an interaction with an external environment is one of the most successful theoretical paradigms. General experimental tools to study different open system realizations have been limited, and so it is highly desirable to develop experimental tools which emulate diverse master equation dynamics and give a way to test open systems theories. In this paper we demonstrate a systematic method for engineering specific system-environment interactions and emulating master equations of a particular form using classical stochastic noise in a superconducting transmon qubit. We also demonstrate that non-Markovian noise can be used as a resource to extend the coherence of a quantum system and counteract the adversarial effects of Markovian environments.

A multi-modal emotion recognition method based on facial multi-scale features and cross-modal attention (MS-FCA) network is proposed. The MSFCA model improves the traditional single-branch ViT network into a two-branch ViT architecture by using classification tokens in each branch to interact with picture embeddings in the other branch, which facilitates effective interactions between different scales of information. Subsequently, audio features are extracted using ResNet18 network. The cross-modal attention mechanism is used to obtain the weight matrices between different modal features, making full use of inter-modal correlation and effectively fusing visual and audio features for more accurate emotion recognition. Two datasets are used for the experiments: eNTERFACE'05 and REDVESS dataset. The experimental results show that the accuracy of the proposed method on the eNTERFACE'05 and REDVESS datasets is 85.42% and 83.84% respectively, which proves the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2025 IEEE.

Passive acoustic monitoring is emerging as a promising solution to the urgent, global need for new biodiversity assessment methods. The ecological relevance of the soundscape is increasingly recognised, and the affordability of robust hardware for remote audio recording is stimulating international interest in the potential for acoustic methods for biodiversity *** scale of the data involved requires automated methods,however, the development of acoustic sensor networks capable of sampling the soundscape across time and space and relaying the data to an accessible storage location remains a significant technical challenge, with power management at its core. Recording and transmitting large quantities of audio data is power intensive,hampering long-term deployment in remote, off-grid locations of key ecological interest. Rather than transmitting heavy audio data, in this paper, we propose a low-cost and energy efficient wireless acoustic sensor network integrated with edge computing structure for remote acoustic monitoring and in situ *** and computation of acoustic indices are carried out directly on edge devices built from low noise primo condenser microphones and Teensy microcontrollers, using internal FFT hardware support. Resultant indices are transmitted over a ZigBee-based wireless mesh network to a destination *** tests of audio quality, indices computation and power consumption demonstrate acoustic equivalence and significant power savings over current solutions.

In our study, we aimed to explore the psychiatric disorders, risk factors, and predictors of self-immolation among individuals admitted to Shahid Motahari Hospital in Tehran from 2019 to 2020. This cross-sectional study examines 64 hospitalized patients who received psychiatric counseling following self-immolation incidents. The rate of self-immolation varies significantly based on specific demographics. It is observed that in our population men had a higher rate of being unmarried (70.96 % vs 15.15 %), lower levels of education (70.96 % vs 63.63 % did not have a university degree), higher level of unemployment (54.83 % vs 30.30 %), younger age average with most men aging 15–24 (29.06 (SD = 9.33)) vs women 35–44 (35.27(SD = 10.27)) and higher prevalence of addiction (67.74 % vs 36.36 %) compared to women. On the other hand, women who attempted self-immolation mainly were married, involved in housekeeping, and tended to exhibit higher rates of depression (63.63 % vs 32.25 %) than men. Furthermore, these self-immolation incidents are often impulsive (64.1 %) and occur shortly (under an hour) after experiencing a stressor (39.1 %). Self-immolation accidents are frequently carried out using gasoline (50 %). Geographically, the majority of self-immolation cases of our study are concentrated in the central region of Iran (76.6 %), followed by the western region (15.6 %) this may be due to the proximity of these regions to our center while patients of other regions were hospitalized in their referral hospitals and were rarely transferred to the capital. To effectively address the issue of self-immolation and reduce its prevalence, it is essential to identify vulnerable populations and explore targeted preventive measures. Based on our findings, future pilot studies could investigate the feasibility of specific interventions, such as crisis hotlines to reduce impulsivity-related acts of self-immolation. Directional near-field coupling can enable many applications, such as directional routing, on-chip information processing, and chiral quantum optics. This directional near-field coupling is generally face dependent, since the induced near-field radiation pattern is dependent on which face (e.g., the upper or lower face) of the dipolar source is facing toward the outcoupler. In other words, the dipolar sources in the directional near-field coupling intrinsically have two faces (e.g., Janus faces), whose corresponding near-field coupling strength and coupling directionality might be distinct. Here, we outline a general physical framework to control these Janus faces in the directional near-field coupling and find that they can have the feature of an oriented misalignment. To be specific, the upper and lower radiation patterns of excited surface waves can have the same shape but are misaligned with a twist angle. For example, the twist angle can be any acute angle if the source is composed of a Huygens dipole and an electric dipole, and it can be any obtuse angle if the source is constructed by a circular electric dipole and a magnetic dipole.

The history of the use of mines dates back almost two centuries. The geography of their use and the associated social harm have made them, without exaggeration, a global problem. At the same time, searches were underway for safe methods of their neutralization using various technical means. In so doing, until now, none of the existing methods provides a 100% guarantee of cleaning the territory, which determines the purpose of finding innovative methods and the possibility of combining them with existing ones. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are becoming a real modern breakthrough in the field of intellectual achievements. Obtaining optimal results when solving a wide range of different problems, together with the development of composite materials, software, and the latest navigation equipment, make the tasks assigned to them and the expected results more and more difficult. UAVs allow people not to be in life-threatening conditions, to conduct activities beyond their physiological and psychophysiological abilities. The combination of the ability to collect spatial data during flight in various ranges of remote sensing with the possibility of carrying variants of useful equipment opens up prospects for their use in the field of demining territories. Supplementing UAV technologies with modern information systems for processing and analysis of information (expert systems, machine learning, computational intelligence, distributed artificial intelligence, neural networks, etc.), including spatial (GIS), opens up great prospects in the field of humanitarian demining of territories. © 2024, The Authors.
