With fast development of Cyber Physical System, the variety and volume of data generated from different edge servers are fairly considerable. Mining and exploiting the data would definitely bring huge advantages. However, there are two major issues exposed in the process. First, utilizing the data with high efficiency is challenging in edge computing environment. Second, data from multiple edge servers often contain sensitive information such as user preferences, which will give rise to privacy breach risks when using the data. Locality-Sensitive Hashing and amplified technology are utilized for dealing with two problems. In this paper, we propose a novel privacy-protection approach named SRchain-LSH in edge computing environment which is based on amplified Locality-Sensitive Hashing technique. In order to verify high accuracy and efficiency of our proposal, large sets of experiments are conducted. According to experimental results, our proposal shows better performance than those of comparative methods in terms of MAE , RMSE and time costs. For our method, the best value of MAE is about 0.41 and time cost is about 0.1 seconds, which are more accurate and efficient than comparative methods. © 2022 IEEE.

In Free/Libre and Open-Source software (FLOSS) project teams, different roles make different types of contributions to the projects, and it has been demonstrated that keeping a rational role distribution is of great significance to the potential growth and expansion of the projects. To identify the underlying patterns of team structures and role transformations, we perform an empirical study on 89 popular GitHub projects. The distribution of 9 roles and 66 types of role transformations are analyzed. Four clusters of FLOSS projects are identified in terms of the distinct characteristics on the proportion of 9 roles (i.e., the team structure) and the frequency of occurrence, duration, and Times of Activeness (ToA) of role transformations. This study would help FLOSS project coordinator have a deeper understanding of dynamic role distributions and role transformations in their teams, so as to take initiatives to improve their team structures.

Parkinson’s disease (PD) is known as a progressive neurodegenerative disease in elderly people. Apart from decelerating the disease exacerbation, early and accurate diagnosis also alleviates mental and physical sufferings and provides timely and appropriate medication. In this paper, we propose an unsupervised feature selection method via adaptive manifold embedding and sparse learning exploiting longitudinal multimodal neuroimaging data for classification and regression prediction. Specifically, the proposed method simultaneously carries out feature selection and dynamic local structure learning to obtain the structural information inherent in the neuroimaging data. We conduct extensive experiments on the publicly available Parkinson’s progression markers initiative (PPMI) dataset to validate the proposed method. Our proposed method outperforms other state-of-the-art methods in terms of classification and regression prediction performance. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2019.

A new distributed arithmetic has been applied to the 1-D DCT to produce a low power, high throughput architecture. In this paper, we apply NEDA to the even-odd decomposition matrices of the 8times8 forward and inverse DCT. We show that, with the proposed approach, the number of adders required for the adder array for the forward DCT and the inverse DCT is fewer than required if NEDA is applied directly to the 8times8 DCT and IDCT matrices. This reduction results in power savings, without decreasing the throughput. Also, for the inverse DCT, the number of adder stages is reduced, resulting in faster decoding

The decorrelator is a linear transform that can be used in multi-user detection receivers in cellular networks to increase the capacity of the base-station receiver. It has been shown that the decorrelation operation can be performed using iterative methods that do not require computation-intensive inverse matrix computation. We propose a high throughput systolic array architecture for the decorrelator receiver, which meets the throughput demands of 3G mobile communications systems.

Four composite samples were fabricated, maintaining 10 % B 4 C and varying La 2 O 3 content from 0 % to 20 %. X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDX) analyses confirmed the successful incorporation of reinforcements, preserving the austenitic structure of 316L-SS. Elastic modulus calculations revealed a gradual reduction from 225.0 GPa to 215.0 GPa with increasing La 2 O 3 due to clustering and reduced homogeneity. Gamma-ray shielding properties demonstrated significant improvements, particularly at low and intermediate photon energies, with Sample 4 with 20 % La 2 O 3 addition, achieving a 13.6 % higher linear attenuation coefficients (LAC) at 0.015 MeV. Neutron shielding highlighted Sample 4 as one of the most effective materials, outperforming conventional alloys. This study demonstrates the potential of 316L Stainless-Steel (316L-SS) + B 4 C + La 2 O 3 composites as multifunctional materials for radiation-intensive applications, offering superior attenuation and structural stability. It can be concluded that optimization of reinforcement distribution would play an important role in balancing mechanical and shielding performance in next-generation nuclear materials.

Multi-user detection is a paradigm that is used to enhance the performance of the receivers in cellular networks in terms of Bit Error Rate (BER), capacity and near-far effect. Parallel Interference Cancellation is the choice for most current multi-user detection receivers because of its simplicity in implementation and good qualitative parameters. Decorrelator-based Parallel Interference Cancellation (PIC) has been proposed to improve the performance of the PIC receiver. In this paper, we make an important observation about the determination of the Decorrelator that makes it feasible for it to be used in conjunction with PIC in the base-station receiver.

I/O is becoming one of major performance bottlenecks in NAND-flash-based mobile devices. Novel nonvolatile memories (NVMs), such as phase change memory and spin-transfer torque random access memory, can provide fast read/write operations. In this paper, we propose a unified NVM/flash architecture to improve the I/O performance. A transparent scheme, virtualized flash (vFlash), is also proposed to manage the unified architecture. Within vFlash, interapp and intra-app techniques are proposed to optimize the application performance by exploiting the historical locality and I/O access patterns of applications. Since vFlash is on the bottom of the I/O stack, the application features will be lost. Therefore, we also propose a cross-layer technique to transfer the application information from the application layer to the vFlash layer. The proposed scheme is evaluated based on an Android platform, and the experimental results show that the proposed scheme can effectively improve the I/O performance of mobile devices. © 1982-2012 IEEE.

Resources scheduling is a significant research topic in cloud computing, which is often modeled as a cost-minimization and deadline-constrained workflow scheduling model. This is a constrained single objective problem that to minimize the overall workflow execution cost while meeting deadline constraints. In this paper, we offer a new horizon to convert this single-objective problem to a multi-objective problem and present coevolutionary multiswarm particle swarm optimization (CMPSO) to find the non-dominated solutions with different execute cost and time. Meanwhile, the renumber strategy is adopted in CMPSO to make the learning efficient. CMPSO is compared with a renumber PSO (RNPSO) by setting the execute time in the CMPSO's nondominated solutions as the deadline constraint of RNPSO. Results show that CMPSO not only offers many non-dominated solutions with different prices and execute time, but also obtains better solution than RNPSO under a same deadline. In Message Oriented Middleware are composed of semiautonomous, heterogeneous, and independently designed next generation framework. For described to achieve successful operation of such a system, the activities of the message controlling the subsystems have to be coordinated. In addition, each layer applications can require synchronizes on events relative to message availability. A common way to proceed is to implement polling strategies within the distributed components, which leads to an increase of the load in the overall system. This approach are than describe a different based on informing using oriented message queuing.
