In many practical parameter estimation problems, such as phase, frequency, and direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation, the observation model is periodic with respect to the unknown parameters, and thus, the appropriate estimation criterion is periodic in the parameter space. However, iterative estimation methods, such as the Fisher-Scoring method, do not take into consideration the periodic information in order to improve the accuracy of the estimation. In this paper, we present a new iterative method - periodic Fisher-Scoring, which takes into account the signal's periodic properties through the utilization of the cyclic Cramér-Rao bound (CRB). The cyclic CRB is a lower bound on the mean cyclic error (MCE) of unbiased estimators and, thus, is more appropriate for the derivation of the iterative method. In addition, the periodic Fisher-Scoring method uses the modulo 2 π operator at each iteration. Simulation results for DOA estimation in seismic arrays show that the proposed periodic Fisher-Scoring estimator has a lower MCE compared to the conventional Fisher-Scoring estimator. The performance improvement is more significant around the edges of the range [-π,π] and under the misspecified model, i.e. under the mismatched assumption of white noise. We also show that the periodic Fisher-Scoring estimator achieves the cyclic CRB much faster than the CRB. © 2023 International Society of Information Fusion.

This paper presents a method that employs an evolutionary normal distributions transform (NDT) for simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) using light detection and ranging (LiDAR) for autonomous mobile robots. An adaptive inertia weight and two genetic operators were employed in the Taguchi-based whale optimization algorithm (WOA) to improve the search diversity and avoid local optima. NDT was used to model the environment of differential-drive mobile robots and WOA was applied to optimize the scan matching for the robotic SLAM problem. The NDT-WOA determines the SLAM pose estimation using sensed data from the physical world. A nonholonomic mobile robot was steered to achieve the NDT-WOA SLAM task with the derived robot kinematics and actuator dynamics. The proposed method was implemented in a TurtleBot3 Burger robotic development kit, which includes a single-board computer and an OpenCR control board. The Robot Operating System (ROS) was utilized to implement the evolutionary NDT-WOA SLAM system due to its flexibility, open source, and client library. Simulation and comparisons were conducted to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed NDT-WOA SLAM method compared to other SLAM paradigms. The experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed evolutionary NDT-WOA SLAM for autonomous mobile robots. White matter hyperintensities (WMHs) are critical indicators of cerebral small vessel disease and are linked to stroke and cognitive decline. Accurate WHM segmentation is challenging due to limited contrast and small size, particularly for deep WMHs where T1-weighted and FLAIR MRI are routinely used. Image fusion offers a method to combine two modalities into one fused modality useful for WHM segmentation. We propose DeAFusion: Detail-Aware Image Fusion, a novel image fusion framework. This framework introduces a Pixel-wise Information Preservation Degree map to enable detailed control of fusion at the pixel level and incorporates segmentation loss to embed semantic information. Our model outperforms existing fusion methods in enhancing lesion visibility and preserving structural details, as demonstrated on both public and in-house datasets. Support Vector Machine(SVM)has become one of the traditional machine learning algorithms the most used in prediction and classification ***,its behavior strongly depends on some parameters,making tuning these parameters a sensitive step to maintain a good *** the other hand,and as any other classifier,the performance of SVM is also affected by the input set of features used to build the learning model,which makes the selection of relevant features an important task not only to preserve a good classification accuracy but also to reduce the dimensionality of *** this paper,the MRFO+SVM algorithm is introduced by investigating the recent manta ray foraging optimizer to fine-tune the SVM parameters and identify the optimal feature subset *** proposed approach is validated and compared with four SVM-based algorithms over eight benchmarking ***,it is applied to a disease Covid-19 *** experimental results show the high ability of the proposed algorithm to find the appropriate SVM’s parameters,and its acceptable performance to deal with feature selection problem.

The demands on conventional communication networks are increasing rapidly because of the exponential expansion of connected multimedia *** light of the data-centric aspect of contemporary communication,the information-centric network(ICN)paradigm offers hope for a solution by emphasizing content retrieval by name instead of *** 5G networks are to meet the expected data demand surge from expanded connectivity and Internet of Things(IoT)devices,then effective caching solutions will be required tomaximize network throughput andminimize the use of ***,an ICN-based Cooperative Caching(ICN-CoC)technique has been used to select a cache by considering cache position,content attractiveness,and rate *** findings show that utilizing our suggested approach improves caching regarding the Cache Hit Ratio(CHR)of 84.3%,Average Hop Minimization Ratio(AHMR)of 89.5%,and Mean Access Latency(MAL)of 0.4 *** a framework,it suggests improved caching strategies to handle the difficulty of effectively controlling data consumption in 5G *** improvements aim to make the network run more smoothly by enhancing content delivery,decreasing latency,and relieving *** improving 5G communication systems’capacity tomanage the demands faced by modern data-centric applications,the research ultimately aids in advancement.
