We study a temporal step size control of explicit Runge-Kutta(RK)methods for com-pressible computational fluid dynamics(CFD),including the Navier-Stokes equations and hyperbolic systems of conservation laws such as the Euler *** demonstrate that error-based approaches are convenient in a wide range of applications and compare them to more classical step size control based on a Courant-Friedrichs-Lewy(CFL)*** numerical examples show that the error-based step size control is easy to use,robust,and efficient,e.g.,for(initial)transient periods,complex geometries,nonlinear shock captur-ing approaches,and schemes that use nonlinear entropy *** demonstrate these properties for problems ranging from well-understood academic test cases to industrially relevant large-scale computations with two disjoint code bases,the open source Julia pack-ages *** with *** and the C/Fortran code SSDC based on PETSc.

Detecting and classifying violence is crucial for public safety and addressing societal violence. DL models have greatly improved the automation of violence detection systems by effectively capturing intricate visual patterns. However, the quality and diversity of the training data greatly impact the effectiveness of these models. Existing datasets may be biased towards specific situations, limiting their practical use. To address this limitation, we introduce the Movie Clip (MC) dataset to enhance the generalisability of Automated Violence Detection and Classification (AVDC) systems. The MC dataset encompasses a broad spectrum of near-real-world violent actions, incorporating diverse demographics, environmental circumstances, and cultural elements extracted from movies. Consequently, it accurately reflects the complexity and diversity of real-world violent scenarios. The potential of the new dataset is investigated against its existing counterparts, like Hockey Fight (HF) and AIRTLab datasets. These datasets are used to train the ConvLSTM models based on the VGG16 and VGG19 architectures. The proposed dataset significantly improves AVDC model generalisation, outperforming the generalisability of current datasets, thereby advancing violence detection and facilitating the development of more robust and efficient AVDC systems. © 2024 IEEE.

Block-chain-based Identity and access management framework is a promising solution to privacy and security issues raised during the exchange of patient data in the healthcare industry. This technology ensures the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive information by providing a decentralized and immutable ledger. In our research, we propose an identity and access management system that employs Hyper-ledger Fabric and OAuth 2.0 for improved security and scalability. This combination allows for transparency and immutability of user transactions and minimizes the risk of fraud and unauthorized access. Additionally, Hyper-ledger Fabric's privacy, security, and scalability features enable granular access control to sensitive information, while OAuth 2.0 authorizes only trusted third-party applications to access specific data on the Fabric network. The proposed approach can handle large volumes of data and support multiple applications, thus providing a secure and scalable solution for managing access to the Fabric network. Moreover, our solution employs Role-based access control based on the patient's role, ensuring privacy and confidentiality. Our statistical analysis demonstrates that the proposed approach can efficiently and securely manage patient identity and access, potentially transforming the healthcare industry by enhancing data interoperability, reducing fraud and errors, and improving patient privacy and security. Furthermore, our solution can facilitate compliance with regulatory requirements such as HIPAA and GDPR. © 2023 The Authors

Cloud-based setups are intertwined with the Internet of Things and advanced,and technologies such as blockchain revolutionize conventional healthcare *** digitization has major advantages,mainly enhancing the security barriers of the green tree *** this study,we conducted a systematic review of over 150 articles that focused exclusively on blockchain-based healthcare systems,security vulnerabilities,cyberattacks,and system *** addition,we considered several solutions proposed by thousands of researchers *** results mostly delineate sustained threats and security concerns in blockchain-based medical health infrastructures for data management,transmission,and ***,we describe 17 security threats that violate the privacy and data integrity of a system,over 21 cyber-attacks on security and QoS,and some system implementation problems such as node compromise,scalability,efficiency,regulatory issues,computation speed,and power *** propose a multi-layered architecture for the future healthcare ***,we classify all threats and security concerns based on these layers and assess suggested solutions in terms of these *** thorough theoretical examination of several performance criteria—including confidentiality,access control,interoperability problems,and energy efficiency—as well as mathematical verifications establishes the superiority of security,privacy maintenance,reliability,and efficiency over conventional *** conducted in-depth comparative studies on different interoperability parameters in the blockchain *** research justifies the use of various positive protocols and optimization methods to improve the quality of services in e-healthcare and overcome problems arising fromlaws and *** the theoretical aspects,their scope,and future expectations encourages us to design reliable,secure,and privacy-preserving systems.

Data-driven, deep-learning modeling frameworks have been recently developed for forecasting time series data. Such machine learning models may be useful in multiple domains including the atmospheric and oceanic ones, and in general, the larger fluids community. The present work investigates the possible effectiveness of such deep neural operator models for reproducing and predicting classic fluid flows and simulations of realistic ocean dynamics. We first briefly evaluate the capabilities of such deep neural operator models when trained on a simulated two-dimensional fluid flow past a cylinder. We then investigate their application to forecasting ocean surface circulation in the Middle Atlantic Bight and Massachusetts Bay, learning from high-resolution data-assimilative simulations employed for real sea experiments. We confirm that trained deep neural operator models are capable of predicting idealized periodic eddy shedding. For realistic ocean surface flows and our preliminary study, they can predict several of the features and show some skill, providing potential for future research and applications. © 2023 The Marine Technology Society (MTS).

This study investigated the predictive ability of ten different machine learning (ML) models for diabetes using a dataset that was not evenly distributed. Additionally, the study evaluated the effectiveness of two oversampling and undersampling methods, namely the Synthetic Minority Oversampling Technique (SMOTE) and the Near-Miss algorithm. Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) techniques were employed to enhance the interpretability of the model's predictions. The results indicate that the extreme gradient boosting (XGB) model combined with SMOTE oversampling technique exhibited the highest accuracy and an F1-score of 99% and 1.00 respectively. Furthermore, the utilization of XAI methods increased the dependability of the model's decision-making process, rendering it more appropriate for clinical use. These results imply that integrating XAI with ML and oversampling techniques can enhance the early detection and management of diabetes, leading to better diagnosis and intervention. © 2023 IEEE.

Biomedical image analysis plays a pivotal role in advancing our understanding of the human body's functioning across different scales, usually based on deep learning-based methods. However, deep learning methods are notoriously data hungry, which poses a problem in fields where data is difficult to obtain such as in neuroscience. Transfer learning (TL) has become a popular and successful approach to cope with this issue, but is difficult to apply in practise due the many parameters it requires to set properly. Here, we present TLIMB, a novel python-based framework for easy development of optimized and scalable TL-based image analysis pipelines in the neurosciences. TLIMB allows for an intuitive configuration of source/target data sets, specific TL-approach and deep learning-architecture, and hyperparameter optimization method for a given data analysis pipeline and compiles these into a nextflow workflow for seamless execution over different infrastructures, ranging from multicore servers to large compute clusters. Our evaluation using a pipeline for analysing 10.000 MRI images of the human brain from the UK Biobank shows that TLIMB is easy to use, incurs negligible overhead and can scale across different cluster sizes. © 2024 for this paper by its authors. This study employs the User-centered Design (UCD) methodology to develop a mobile health (mHealth) application (app) specifically tailored for Bangladeshi women with Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM). GDM affects approximately 10% of pregnant women globally and around 35% within Bangladesh, as reported by the World Health Organization (WHO). Despite its high prevalence, there is a significant lack of awareness and education about GDM in Bangladesh, compounded by language barriers that make existing digital solutions less accessible. The MatrikalinDiabetes mHealth app aims to overcome these barriers by providing comprehensive management and educational resources for GDM in the Bangla language, addressing both pre-pregnancy and post-pregnancy needs. To ensure the app meets the actual needs of potential users, personas were created based on a literature review, and a survey was conducted. This process informed the development of both a low-fidelity, paper-based prototype and a high-fidelity digital prototype. Key features of the MatrikalinDiabetes app include tracking of food and water intake, physical activity monitoring, reminders, GDM education, chat forums for community support, blood glucose level (BGL) monitoring, an SOS button for emergency contacts, and quizzes for user engagement. Preliminary feedback indicated that 53.8% of participants favored the integrated features and expressed willingness to use and recommend the app. The survey of the high-fidelity prototype yielded positive responses, with 57.9% of participants strongly agreeing and 42.1% agreeing that the features were beneficial. The user-friendly design of the high-fidelity prototype ensures intuitive interaction, aiding in health management, enhancing GDM understanding, and promoting a healthier lifestyle among pregnant women in Bangladesh. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.
