With the increase in computer use for the last 10 years, it increases the size of cyber-attacks as well. Since most computers are connected to the network, they may suffer cyber-attacks. Because of these cyber threats, Cyber Security is becoming a really important area in the information technology area. Cyber Security is an area which is mainly responsible for dealing with cyber-attacks by hackers. The improvements and advancements in the information technology area allow cyber criminals to do really complicated and dangerous cyber-attacks. Cyber-attack methods that are being used today are much more effective than the ones in the past. Because of that, there is always a war between cyber security specialists and cyber attackers or hackers. Cyber security analysts, on the other hand, try to come up with new solutions to the methods developed by cyber criminals or hackers. The competition between them continuously advances and improves cyber security technologies every day. The improvements can be either in cyber security or cybercrime side. These days, traditional cyber security solutions are enough to fight against cyber-attacks, but can these solutions be further developed? This is the question everyone in the cyber security area is trying to answer. Of course, yes. Thanks to AI, which is one of the most popular technologies in the information technology area, it is used in many areas ranging from e-commerce, advertising, human resource & recruiting, video games, transportation, surveillance systems etc. AI has been used in cyber security over the last years. Although it also has negative effects, we are going to mostly talk about its positive sides in this article. We are going to go deep into how and why AI is used in cyber security, how AI improves and enhances the current traditional cyber security methods. Then, we will also talk about which AI techniques play an important role in the cyber security area.

Machine learning has the ability to dramatically improve sustainable systems by anticipating needs, maximizing resource use, raising output, and lowering waste. An overview of earlier studies on the incorporation of machine learning into sustainable systems is presented together with a case study of how machine learning was used to lower energy use in a residential structure. The results show that machine learning may be used to increase energy efficiency and save a lot of money. Wearable technology has added a whole new dimension to the already vast field of personal electronics. The mobile phone gave devices their true individuality. Because so many services are designed around mobile phones, the market has opened up for a brand-new personalized experience utilizing wearable technologies. Fabric sensors may now be combined with wearable microcontrollers like the flora and lily pad to monitor stretch, pressure, bend, and even the direction that the body is being braced. The connections between them are based on conductive threads that follow the curve of the fabric. We'll examine how different teams used their in-depth understanding of wearable technologies to accomplish their goals in this study.

Geometric graph neural networks (GNNs) have emerged as powerful tools for modeling molecular geometry. However, they encounter limitations in effectively capturing long-range interactions in large molecular systems due to the localization assumption of GNN. To address this challenge, we introduce Neural P3M, a versatile enhancer of geometric GNNs to expand the scope of their capabilities by incorporating mesh points alongside atoms and reimaging traditional mathematical operations in a trainable manner. Neural P3M exhibits flexibility across a wide range of molecular systems and demonstrates remarkable accuracy in predicting energies and forces, outperforming on benchmarks such as the MD22 dataset. It also achieves an average improvement of 22% on the OE62 dataset while integrating with various architectures. © 2024, CC BY.

Local Learning Matters: Rethinking Data Heterogeneity in Federated Learning

Federated learning (FL) is a promising strategy for performing privacy-preserving, distributed learning with a network of clients (i.e., edge devices). However, the data distribution among clients is often non-IID in nature, making efficient optimization difficult. To alleviate this issue, many FL algorithms focus on mitigating the effects of data heterogeneity across clients by introducing a variety of proximal terms, some incurring considerable compute and/or memory overheads, to restrain local updates with respect to the global model. Instead, we consider rethinking solutions to data heterogeneity in FL with a focus on local learning generality rather than proximal restriction. To this end, we first present a systematic study informed by second-order indicators to better understand algorithm effectiveness in FL. Interestingly, we find that standard regularization methods are surprisingly strong performers in mitigating data heterogeneity effects. Based on our findings, we further propose a simple and effective method, FedAlign, to overcome data heterogeneity and the pitfalls of previous methods. FedAlign achieves competitive accuracy with state-of-the-art FL methods across a variety of settings while minimizing computation and memory overhead. Facial stimulation can produce specific event-related potential (ERP) component N170 in the fusiform gyrus region. However, the role of the fusiform gyrus region in facial preference tasks is not clear at present, and the current research of facial preference analysis based on EEG signals is mostly carried out in the scalp domain. This paper explores whether the region of the fusiform gyrus is involved in processing face preference emotions in terms of the distribution of energy over the source domain, and finds that the pars orbitalis cortex is most energetically active in the face preference task and that there are significant differences between the left and right *** Relevance— The role of pars orbitalis in facial preference may help doctors determine whether the pars orbitalis cortex is lost in clinical practice.

Reasoning over sports videos for question answering is an important task with numerous applications, such as player training and information retrieval. However, this task has not been explored due to the lack of relevant datasets and the challenging nature it presents. Most datasets for video question answering (VideoQA) focus mainly on general and coarse-grained understanding of daily-life videos, which is not applicable to sports scenarios requiring professional action understanding and fine-grained motion analysis. In this paper, we introduce the first dataset, named Sports-QA, specifically designed for the sports VideoQA task. The Sports-QA dataset includes various types of questions, such as descriptions, chronologies, causalities, and counterfactual conditions, covering multiple sports. Furthermore, to address the characteristics of the sports VideoQA task, we propose a new Auto-Focus Transformer (AFT) capable of automatically focusing on particular scales of temporal information for question answering. We conduct extensive experiments on Sports-QA, including baseline studies and the evaluation of different methods. The results demonstrate that our AFT achieves state-of-the-art performance. Sets of spatial features whose instances frequently appear together in nearby areas are regarded as spatial co-location patterns (SCPs). Spatial high utility co-location pattern(SHUCP), which is an extended research of SCPs, can better reflect the high quality aggregation phenomenon among spatial features. Utility participation index (UPI) is a commonly used adaptive utility measurement in most of the existing methods. Unfortunately, UPI does not take into account the impacts of fuzziness and overlap of proximity relationships on the calculation of utility. Additionally, UPI mainly relies on the computation of the instance layer and does not satisfy the downward closure property. In this paper, we combines fuzzy set theory to establish fuzzy neighbor relationships and discuss the issue of instance overlap between neighbor relationships. Then, a new calculation method for the utility index between spatial features has been design with considering fuzzy contribution score of instances. Using Fuzzy Chameleon Clustering algorithm (FCC) based on fuzzy utility index, this paper further extracts SHUCPs from different high utility fuzzy feature clusters. Experiments are conducted on three synthetic data sets and two real data sets to prove the rationality and effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Blur Invariants for Image Recognition

Blur is an image degradation that is difficult to remove. Invariants with respect to blur offer an alternative way of a description and recognition of blurred images without any deblurring. In this paper, we present an original unified theory of blur invariants. Unlike all previous attempts, the new theory does not require any prior knowledge of the blur type. The invariants are constructed in the Fourier domain by means of orthogonal projection operators and moment expansion is used for efficient and stable computation. It is shown that all blur invariants published earlier are just particular cases of this approach. Experimental comparison to concurrent approaches shows the advantages of the proposed theory.
