Internet of Remote Things (IoRT) is widely used in both military and civilian applications. However, due to the unique characteristics, which is characterized as long-distance and high-latency, the design of the routing protocol is a great challenge of IoRT. In this paper, a QoS-oriented and traffic-aware multi-path routing protocol (QoTa-MRP) is proposed for IoRT. QoTa-MRP is composed of two parts. The first part is the link traffic-aware based muti-paths source route discovery mechanism, which is used to establish multi-paths with lower link disjoint degree. The second part is path similarity and traffic priority based multi-path selection mechanism, which is used to determine the transmission mode of the traffic flows to enhance the reliability or effectiveness of the transmission. Simultaneously, the protocol is theoretically analyzed in terms of the successful transmission rate of routing transmission data packet. Finally, the dynamic source routing, which is a very representative protocol and is usually used as the baseline comparison protocol, is revisited for the performance verification of the QoTa-MRP in IoRT. It is shown in the simulation results that there are significant superiorities of QoTa-MRP than that of DSR in terms of network throughput, packet loss rate and routing packet header overhead in IoRT. © 2021, CC BY.

In the mining process of coal, oil, and natural gas, there are often a large number of toxic, hazardous and explosive gases, which pose a greater safety hazard. These gases usually exist in the form of mixtures. Accurately identifying the composition of the mixed gas is of great significance to the prevention of safety accidents. In order to improve the accuracy of the component recognition of the mixed gas, this paper proposes a mixed gas component recognition algorithm based on the combination of principal component analysis (PCA) and k-nearest neighbor algorithm (KNN). PCA is used to extract the characteristics of the sensor array signal to obtain the characteristic value of the gas, and then KNN is used to realize the recognition of the gas type. The results show that the recognition rate of the feature quantity after dimensionality reduction as input is higher than that before dimensionality reduction. Finally, PCA and KNN algorithm and PCA and support vector machine (SVM) algorithm are compared for the recognition rate of mixed gas. Experimental results show that the proposed method has a recognition rate of 96.88% for mixed gas components. © 2021 IEEE.

Distributed augmented lagrangian method for link-based resource sharing problems of multi-agent systems

A multi-agent optimization problem motivated by the management of energy systems is discussed. The associated cost function is separable and convex although not necessarily strongly convex and there exist edge-based coupling equality constraints. In this regard, we propose a distributed algorithm based on solving the dual of the augmented problem. Furthermore, we consider that the communication network might be time-varying and the algorithm might be carried out asynchronously. The time-varying nature and the asynchronicity are modeled as random processes. Then, we show the convergence and the convergence rate of the proposed algorithm under the aforementioned conditions. Deep learning has achieved significant advances in the fault diagnosis of rotating machinery. However, it still suffers many challenges such as various working conditions and insufficient effective data samples. Signal time-frequency analysis and feature transfer learning methods can help solve these problems. Combining WPT and MK-MMD, this paper proposes a ResNet-based deep transfer diagnosis model for bearing faults. Firstly, this paper uses WPT to perform time-frequency analysis vibration signals to construct a wavelet packet transform time-frequency feature map (WPT-TFFM). Then, it designs a multi-group parallel ResNet network structure to extract the depth features of WPT-TFFM. It further applies MK-MMD to evaluate the distribution difference between the depth features of the source and target domain data. This work conducts comparative experiments on two test rigs under different working loads and speeds. The results reveal that the proposed method offers excellent fault diagnosis capability for working condition transfer tasks. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Open quantum systems are a topic of intense theoretical research. The use of master equations to model a system's evolution subject to an interaction with an external environment is one of the most successful theoretical paradigms. General experimental tools to study different open system realizations have been limited, and so it is highly desirable to develop experimental tools which emulate diverse master equation dynamics and give a way to test open systems theories. In this paper we demonstrate a systematic method for engineering specific system-environment interactions and emulating master equations of a particular form using classical stochastic noise in a superconducting transmon qubit. We also demonstrate that non-Markovian noise can be used as a resource to extend the coherence of a quantum system and counteract the adversarial effects of Markovian environments.

The stomatopod (mantis shrimp) visual system has recently provided a blueprint for the design of paradigm-shifting polarization and multispectral imaging sensors, enabling solutions to challenging medical and remote sensing problems. However, these bioinspired frame-based cameras lack the high dynamic range and asynchronous polarization vision capabilities of the stomatopod visual system, limiting temporal resolution to ~12ms and dynamic range to ~72dB. Here we present a novel stomatopod-inspired polarization camera which mimics the sustained and transient biological visual pathways to save power and sample data beyond the maximum Nyquist frame rate. This bio-inspired sensor simultaneously captures both synchronous intensity frames and asynchronous polarization brightness change information with submillisecond latencies over a millionfold range of illumination. Our PDAVIS camera is comprised of 346x260 pixels, organized in 2-by-2 macropixels, which filter the incoming light with four linear polarization filters offset by 45°. Polarization information is reconstructed using both low-cost and low-latency event-based algorithms and more accurate but slower deep neural networks. We modified a modern herbal MRI contrast agent for biological applications. This modification was realized by omitting salinity and free ions of the contrast media. As a result, both the toxicity and the relaxivity of the product improved. We also chemically analyzed the modified agent and confirmed the elimination of some annoying free ions and molecules.

With the increasing penetration of distributed energy resources (DERs) at the demand side, power quality in the distribution network has become a critical problem. Currently, the operator/utility would pay for the cost increment caused by out-of-order DERs. In this paper, a P2P energy sharing (ES) model and a cost sharing mechanism are proposed to reduce the total cost and encourage DERs to maintain power quality. In the proposed model, end-users with DERs can flexibly share surplus energies with others instructed by the aggregator. A linear model is applied to analyze the active and reactive power flow in the distribution network and ensure the sharing outcomes meet the operational requirements. To encourage participation, the total cost saving is shared based on the identified contribution. Case studies on the coalition composed of 10 end-users based on the real-world data validate the effectiveness of the proposed model and mechanism. © 2020 IEEE.

Quantum Complementarity Approach to Device-Independent Security

Complementarity is an essential feature of quantum mechanics. The preparation of an eigenstate of one observable implies complete randomness in its complementary observable. In quantum cryptography, complementarity allows us to formulate security analyses in terms of phase-error correction. However, the concept becomes much subtler in the device-independent regime that offers security without device characterization. Security proofs of device-independent quantum cryptography tasks are often complex and quite different from those of their more standard device-dependent cousins. The existing proofs pose huge challenges to experiments, among which large data-size requirement is a crux. Here, we show the complementarity security origin of the device-independent tasks. By linking complementarity with quantum nonlocality, we recast the device-independent scheme into a quantum error correction protocol. Going beyond the identical-and-independent-distribution case, we consider the most general attack. We generalize the sample entropy in classical Shannon theory for the finite-size analysis. Our method exhibits good finite-size performance and brings the device-independent scheme to a more practical regime. Applying it to the data in a recent ion-trap-based device-independent quantum key distribution experiment, one could reduce the requirement on data size to less than a third. Furthermore, the operational meaning of complementarity naturally extends device-independent scenarios to advantage key distillation, easing experiments by tolerating higher loss and lower transmittance.

Motivated by current sharing in power networks, we consider a class of output consensus (also called agreement) problems for nonlinear systems, where the consensus value is determined by external disturbances, e.g., power demand. This output consensus problem is solved by a simple distributed output feedback controller if a system is either Krasovskii or shifted passive, which is the only essential requirement.
