Actuator placement is a fundamental problem in control design for large-scale networks. In this paper, we study the problem of finding a set of actuator positions by minimizing a given metric, while satisfying a structural controllability requirement and a constraint on the number of actuators. We first extend the classical forward greedy algorithm for applications to graphs that are not necessarily strongly connected. We then improve this greedy algorithm by extending its horizon. This is done by evaluating the actuator position set expansions at the further steps of the classical greedy algorithm. We prove that this new method attains a better performance, when this evaluation considers the final actuator position set. Moreover, we study the problem of minimal backup placements. The goal is to ensure that the system stays structurally controllable even when any of the selected actuators goes offline, with minimum number of backup actuators. We show that this problem is equivalent to the well-studied NP-hard hitting set problem. Our results are verified by a numerical case study. © 2021, CC BY.

The Technical Committee of the CESEI (Spanish Chapter of the IEEE Education Society) is focused on the Innovation, Research and Development (I+R+D) of the education in engineering, mainly Electric and computer engineering. As in other interdisciplinary fields, the I+R+D involves several sources of information and different stakeholders, each one with its own focus and purpose. As a result, sometimes it may be complex for practitioners and researchers to identify the more appropriate entities for their interests. This paper shows how the CESEI Technical Committee tries to solve this difficulty by providing updated information regarding the main publications (journals), events (conferences) and awards to the best academic works. The paper focuses special attention on the activities held during 2020–2021.

When showing your hand pays off: Announcing strategic intentions in Colonel Blotto games

— In competitive adversarial environments, it is often advantageous to obfuscate one’s strategies or capabilities. However, revealing one’s strategic intentions may shift the dynamics of the competition in complex ways. Can it ever be advantageous to reveal strategic intentions to an opponent? In this paper, we consider three-stage Colonel Blotto games in which one player can choose whether or not to pre-commit resources to a single battlefield before play begins. This pre-commitment is public knowledge. In response, the opponent can either secure the battlefield by matching the pre-commitment with its own forces, or withdraw. In a two-player setting, we show that a weaker player never has an incentive to pre-commit any amount of resources to a battlefield regardless of how valuable it is. We then consider a three-player setting in which two players fight against a common adversary on separate fronts. Only one of the two players facing the adversary has the option of pre-committing. We find there are instances where this player benefits from pre-committing. The analysis indicates that under non-cooperative team settings and no possibility of forming alliances, there can be incentives to publicly announce one’s strategic intentions to an adversary. Leukemia is a kind of blood cancer that damages the cells in the blood and bone marrow of the human *** produces cancerous blood cells that disturb the human’s immune system and significantly affect bone marrow’s production ability to effectively create different types of blood cells like red blood cells(RBCs)and white blood cells(WBC),and *** can be diagnosed manually by taking a complete blood count test of the patient’s blood,from which medical professionals can investigate the signs of leukemia ***,two other methods,microscopic inspection of blood smears and bone marrow aspiration,are also utilized while examining the patient for ***,all these methods are labor-intensive,slow,inaccurate,and require a lot of human experience and *** authors have proposed automated detection systems for leukemia diagnosis to overcome these *** have deployed digital image processing and machine learning algorithms to classify the cells into normal and blast ***,these systems are more efficient,reliable,and fast than previous manual diagnosing ***,more work is required to classify leukemia-affected cells due to the complex characteristics of blood images and leukemia cells having much intra-class variability and inter-class *** this paper,we have proposed a robust automated system to diagnose leukemia and its *** have classified ALL into its sub-types based on FAB classification,i.e.,L1,L2,and L3 types with better *** have achieved 96.06%accuracy for subtypes classification,which is better when compared with the state-of-the-art methodologies.

There are many models of memristors, but there are no reports on exponential memristors. In this paper, a three- dimension memristor Rucklidge system with exponential memristor is proposed by introducing exponential function and constructing exponential memristor. The dynamic behavior of the system is analyzed by means of Lyapunov exponent and bifurcation diagram. The complex attractor coexistence and amplitude modulation characteristics of the system are found. The internal variable of memristor is introduced into the second two-dimensional equation as a feedback term, and a conditional symmetric system is constructed for the three-dimensional memristor system, which can realize the polarity control of output signal. By discussing the dynamic characteristics of exponential memristor chaotic system and the control mechanism of amplitude modulation, bias and conditional symmetry, the complex dynamic characteristics of exponential function memristor are revealed, which lays a foundation for its application in the field of secure communication.

We live in a period of explosive growth of smart device applications. Specifically, the growth rate of Android applications is amazing. And these Android applications often use JNI (Java native interface). However, research on the leakage of private information using JNI is lacking. In this paper, we propose a system for detecting the leakage of private information using JNI. Our system named PILDroid adopts tainted analysis based on static method. PILDroid can perform the analysis more easily and effectively than the assembly-based analysis systems because it decompiles a JNI into LLVM IR instead of assembly language. And this paper demonstrates an experiment to verify the precision and performance. For the test data, we selected five Android applications: three of which are well known malware, two of which are malware made by us. And experiment results, PILDroid determined that there has a leak of privacy information flow from five malware. © 2019 IEEE.

Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) can provide real-time positioning information for outdoor users, but cannot for indoor scenarios or heavily occluded outdoor scenarios. Strap-down Inertial Navigation System (SINS) are widely used to locate people in complex interior or heavily occluded outdoor scenarios due to its light weight and low power consumption. However, IMU of SINS are noisy, and the sampling data error is large, which is a divergence of the error with time. Therefore, it will generate a positioning accumulation error, which affects the final positioning accuracy. The problem of cumulative IMU errors is usually dealt with by Zero-Velocity Update (ZUPT). The zero-velocity detection part of basic ZUPT method usually uses a single threshold to determine the gait of pedestrian, which often has the problem of gait misjudgment and omission. To address these problems, this paper proposes a composite conditional detection method to solve the problem of misjudgment in the zero-velocity interval. In addition, we redesign the zero-velocity update algorithm and uses the Cubature Kalman filter (CKF) for pedestrian positioning error correction. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed ZUPT method based on dual-threshold detection can better detect the interval between pedestrian motion and stationery than ones with single threshold. The zero-velocity update algorithm based on CKF has higher performance than conventional EKF and UKF methods, which constrains the cumulative error of SINS to about 0.2% of the whole walking distance.

In this paper, we focus on the problem of compositional synthesis of controllers enforcing signal temporal logic (STL) tasks over a class of continuous-time nonlinear interconnected systems. By leveraging the idea of funnel-based control, we show that a fragment of STL specifications can be formulated as assume-guarantee contracts. A new concept of contract satisfaction is then defined to establish our compositionality result, which allows us to guarantee the satisfaction of a global contract by the interconnected system when all subsystems satisfy their local contracts. Based on this compositional framework, we then design closed-form continuous-time feedback controllers to enforce local contracts over subsystems in a decentralized manner. Finally, we demonstrate the effectiveness of our results on a numerical example.

In this paper we present new (stochastic) passivity properties for Direct Current (DC) power networks, where the unknown and unpredictable load demand is modelled by a stochastic process. More precisely, the considered power network consists of distributed generation units supplying ZIP loads, i.e., nonlinear loads comprised of impedance (Z), current (I) and power (P) components. Differently from the majority of the results in the literature, where each of these components is assumed to be constant, we consider time-varying loads whose dynamics are described by a class of stochastic differential equations. Finally, we prove that an existing distributed control scheme achieving current sharing and (average) voltage regulation ensures the asymptotic stochastic stability of the controlled network.

This paper revisits the stabilization problem of switched linear systems with time-varying delay via state dependent switching strategies. In contrast to the existing works, the commonly adopted stable convex combination assumption is relaxed in this paper. For switched systems satisfying the relaxed assumption, we design a state dependent switching strategy, under which the considered system is asymptotically stable at the origin in the presence of time-varying delay. An optimization problem is formulated to estimate the upper bound of tolerable time delay. Numerical examples are presented to show that our method is applicable to a larger class of switched systems and leads to greater delay bound.
