We address the problem of estimating the state of a Multi-Agent System (MAS) with dynamics subjected to impulsive disturbances, based on measurements that are corrupted with impulsive noise and are sometimes missing. To facilitate the online implementation of the proposed state estimator for MAS, a graph formulation is proposed first. Then, making use of the Huber Loss, the estimator adopts a general cost function that addresses missing measurements and is robust to impulsive noise and disturbances. The solution is validated under a synthetic scenario, where a team of UAVs equipped with onboard video cameras, inertial sensors, transceivers, and GPS, cooperatively geolocate and track a ground moving target agent. Comparison results with respect to three different state-of-the-art estimators are provided to show the superior performance and benefits of the proposed robust estimator.

This article concerns the problem of computing solutions to optimal control problems with state constraints and whose trajectory is also affected by known flow vector fields. This general mathematical framework is particularly pertinent to the requirements underlying the control of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles in realistic scenarii. The key contribution consists in devising a computational indirect method that becomes effective in the numerical computation of extremals to optimal control problems with state constraints by using multipliers of the Maximum Principle in the form of Gamkrelidze whose measure component is ensured to be continuous. The specific problem of time-optimal control of an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle in a bounded space set, subject to the effect of a flow field and with bounded actuation is used to illustrate the proposed approach. The corresponding numerical results are presented and discussed.

BACKGROUND:The United Kingdom reported the emergence of a new and highly transmissible SARS-CoV-2 variant (B.1.1.7) that rapidly spread to other countries. The impact of this new mutation-which occurs in the S protein-on infectivity, virulence, and current vaccine effectiveness is still under evaluation.
OBJECTIVE:The aim of this study is to sequence SARS-CoV-2 samples of cases in Romania to detect the B.1.1.7 variant and compare these samples with sequences submitted to GISAID.
METHODS:SARS-CoV-2 samples were sequenced and amino acid substitution analysis was performed using the CoV-GLUE platform.
RESULTS:We have identified the first cases of the B.1.1.7 variant in samples collected from Romanian patients, of which one was traced to the region of the United Kingdom where the new variant was originally sequenced. Mutations in nonstructural protein 3 (Nsp3; N844S and D455N) and ORF3a (L15F) were also detected, indicating common ancestry with UK strains as well as remote connections with strains from Nagasaki, Japan.
CONCLUSIONS:These results indicate, for the first time, the presence and characteristics of the new variant B.1.1.7 in Romania and underscore the need for increased genomic sequencing in patients with confirmed COVID-19.

Transcriptomics, regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF), and a virtual reality-based spatial motor task were integrated using mediation analysis in a novel demonstration of "imaging omics." Data collected in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I football athletes cleared for play before in-season training showed significant relationships in 1) elevated levels of miR-30d and miR-92a to elevated putamen rCBF, 2) elevated putamen rCBF to compromised Balance scores, and 3) compromised Balance scores to elevated microRNA (miRNA) levels. rCBF acted as a consistent mediator variable (Sobel's test < 0.05) between abnormal miRNA levels and compromised Balance scores. Given the involvement of these miRNAs in inflammation and immune function and that vascular perfusion is a component of the inflammatory response, these findings support a chronic inflammatory model in these athletes with 11 years of average football exposure. rCBF, a systems biology measure, was necessary for miRNA to affect behavior.
