This study presents a real-time, and auto-alarm intelligent system of healthcare for ICU patients. The current version of the expert system can detect EEG and ECG to identify different types of abnormal cardiac rhythms in real-time and identify patients' acute stress. The proposed system also activates an emergency medical alarm system when problems occur.

Application of artificial bee colony algorithm to select architecture of a optimal neural network for the prediction of rolling force in hot strip rolling process

In the face of global competition, the requirement for dimensional accuracy, mechanical properties and surface properties has become a major challenge on aluminum manufacturing industries. Conventional rolling force formulas, however, provide not more than reasonably exact approximations. The mathematical modeling of the hot rolling process has long been recognized to be a desirable approach to aid in rolling operating practice and the design of mill equipment to improve productivity and quality. However, many factors make the theoretical analysis of the rolling process very complex and time-consuming. This paper presents a prediction method based on the Artificial Bee Colony algorithm and BP neural network, which was developed in order to improve the prediction of rolling force in hot strip rolling process. The architecture of BP neural network is optimized by Artificial Bee Colony algorithm. Comparing with the Sims mathematical model and BP neural network, the experimental results show that the prediction accuracy and error of rolling force is superior to the other two methods, and the predicted rolling force is very close to the practical rolling force.

The aerostat power system was designed, it's simulation experiment was conducted, and it's data were analyzed according to the operating characteristics of the aerostat in this paper. The influence of the environmental conditions and different loads on the power supply system was also analyzed because the requirements in all aspects in the aerostats power supply system are very rigorous in the fields of aerospace. A detail researches and analysis on key technologies of the floating power supply system were carried out considering the relationship between illumination conditions and peak power. Then, a design of aerostats' power supply system was brought up based on the energy balance principle. At last, the feasibility of the design systems was verified and some key issues were analyzed in detail through the analysis to low-altitude simulation test data.

The problem of tracking maneuvering point target in optical image sequence using a single sensor is considered in this paper. A morphology based method is proposed to pre-detect target area. This pre-detection begins with expansion of the target area by dilation using a selected rectangle structuring element. Then the target energy is enhanced by frame-addition. Finally, the target area is detected by getting the maximum intensity based on the character of target correlation between frames. Therefore, the conventional uniform distribution of particles over the whole sensor field-of-view is shrunk to the pre-detection target area. The proposed morphology based particle filtering algorithm thus enhances the particles representation. To demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed method, it is compared with the particle filter proposed by Salmond. The simulations indicate that desired tracking quality is ensured by narrowing initial particle distribution derived from morphology based pre-detection.

In this paper, a new approach for Simultaneous Localization of UAV and RF Sources (SLUS) is proposed. In the UAV-based localization of RF sources, such as a cell phone in a search and rescue mission, the UAV navigation errors are a significant source of localization error. Although the use of GPS can reduce UAV localization error significantly resulting in more accurate RF source localization, however, if the GPS is not available temporarily or permanently, the accuracy of UAV-based localization decreases rapidly. The proposed approach solves these two connected problems, i.e. UAV localization and RF source localization, simultaneously to decrease the error of UAV position estimation and the error of RF sources localization. The prediction of UAV pose is done in parallel to RF source position prediction first. Then the predicted states are augmented and the augmented predicted state information is corrected in SLUS using the range and bearing observations. The simulation results show that this method can reduce RF source's position estimation error and prevent the divergence of UAV navigation in latitude and longitude channels. In the other words, the RF features available in the environment can be used to improve the UAV navigation.

Two below-rated feedforward torque control strategies are investigated for a megawatt-scale commercial turbine to regulate rotor speed and reduce turbine structural loads. The investigated regime for this research is the transition region when the turbine is operating just below rated wind speed. In this transition region, the rotor speed has reached its rated value but the generator torque has not. The first of the two controllers designed is a nonlinear feedforward controller that is based on aerodynamic torque balance computed from a light detection and ranging (lidar) measurement and a feedback power measurement from the turbine. A linear disturbance accommodating control (DAC) based torque controller has also been adapted and compared with the nonlinear control strategy. This DAC depends only on the lidar feedforward measurement without using feedback measurement from the turbine. The controllers are verified with a nonlinear FAST turbine model and turbulent wind fields.

Augmented finite transition systems generalize nondeterministic transition systems with additional liveness conditions. We propose efficient algorithms for synthesizing control protocols for augmented finite transition systems to satisfy high-level specifications expressed in a fragment of linear temporal logic (LTL). We then use these algorithms within a framework for switching protocol synthesis for discrete-time dynamical systems, where augmented finite transition systems are used for abstracting the underlying dynamics. We introduce a notion of minimality for abstractions of certain fidelity and show that such minimal abstractions can be exactly computed for switched affine systems. Additionally, based on this framework, we present a procedure for computing digitally implementable switching protocols for continuous-time systems. The effectiveness of the proposed framework is illustrated through two examples of temperature control for buildings.

This paper introduces a post-iteration averaging algorithm to achieve asymptotic optimality in convergence rates of stochastic approximation algorithms for consensus control with structural constraints. The algorithm involves two stages. The first stage is a coarse approximation obtained using a sequence of large stepsizes. Then, the second stage provides a refinement by averaging the iterates from the first stage. We show that the new algorithm is asymptotically efficient and gives the optimal convergence rates in the sense of the best scaling factor and ＇smallest＇ possible asymptotic variance.
