Counterfactual thinking is a critical yet challenging topic for artificial intelligence to learn knowledge from data and ultimately improve their performances for new scenarios. Many research works, including Potential Outcome Model and Structural Causal Model, have been proposed to realize it. However, their modelings, theoretical foundations and application approaches are usually different. Moreover, there is a lack of graphical approach to infer spatio-temporal counterfactuals, that considers spatial and temporal interactions between multiple units. Thus, in this work, our aim is to investigate a survey to compare and discuss different counterfactual models, theories and approaches, and further build a unified graphical causal frameworks to infer the spatio-temporal counterfactuals. Assume, Guarantee or Repair – A Regular Framework for Non Regular Properties

We present Assume-Guarantee-Repair (AGR) – a novel framework which verifies that a program satisfies a set of properties and also repairs the program in case the verification fails. We consider communicating programs – these are simple C-like programs, extended with synchronous actions over communication channels. Our method, which consists of a learning-based approach to assume-guarantee reasoning, performs verification and repair simultaneously: in every iteration, AGR either makes another step towards proving that the (current) system satisfies the required properties, or alters the system in a way that brings it closer to satisfying the properties. To handle infinite-state systems we build finite abstractions, for which we check the satisfaction of complex properties that contain first-order constraints, using both syntactic and semantic-aware methods. We implemented AGR and evaluated it on various communication protocols. Our experiments present compact proofs of correctness and quick repairs. © 2022, CC BY.

This paper introduces a new model for handling data privacy throughout data lifecycle via the introduction of a policy profile using the Abbreviated Language For Authorization (ALFA) policy language. Our approach extends previous models in three complementary ways: (1) By introducing Administration and Delegation Profile (ADP) in ALFA policy where users and companies can restrict the scope of access/usage policies related to data as well as specify a chain of custody for data (moreover such an approach eases up the tasks of handling users' consent);(2) Thanks to our framework Usage Control System Plus (UCS+) users can monitor the usage of data and revoke its usage upon specific conditions or at will;(3) By introducing new states for policy evaluation, i.e. Admissible/NotAdmissible to filter out those applicable policies that were unauthorized in the first place. © 2021 IEEE

Today,resource depletion threatens a number of resource-based cities in *** ecological security problem caused by the long-term exploitation of natural resources is a key issue to be solved in the development of resource-exhausted *** 23 indicators,this study evaluated the ecological security status and development trends of 21 resource-exhausted cities in China from 2011 to *** results showed that from 2011 to 2015,the overall ecological security of this type of city was low,with over 60%of the cities at an unsafe ***,ecological security improved rapidly after 2016,and by 2017,all of the cities had reached the critical safety *** top 10 indicators of ecological security included industrial sulfur dioxide emissions,water supply,agricultural fertilizer application,and forest *** 10 indicators’cumulative contribution to ecological security was 48.3%;among them,reducing industrial sulfur dioxide emissions contributed the most at 5.7%.These findings can help governments better understand the ecological security status of resource-exhausted cities,and it can provide a reference for the allocation of funds and other resources to improve the ecological safety of these cities.

Downlink channel estimation remains a significant bottleneck in reconfigurable intelligent surface-assisted cell-free multiple-input multiple-output communication systems. Conventional approaches primarily rely on centralized deep learning methods to estimate the high-dimensional and complex cascaded channels. These methods require data aggregation from all users for centralized model training, leading to excessive communication overhead and significant data privacy concerns. Additionally, the large size of local learning models imposes heavy computational demands on end users, necessitating strong computational capabilities that most commercial devices lack. To address the aforementioned challenges, a coalition-formation-guided heterogeneous federated learning (FL) framework is proposed. This framework leverages coalition formation to guide the formation of heterogeneous FL user groups for efficient channel estimation. Specifically, by utilizing a distributed deep reinforcement learning (DRL) approach, each FL user intelligently and independently decides whether to join or leave a coalition, aiming at improving channel estimation accuracy, while reducing local model size and computational costs for end users. Moreover, to accelerate the DRL-FL convergence process and reduce computational burdens on end users, a transfer learning method is introduced. This method incorporates both received reference signal power and distance similarity metrics, by considering that nodes with similar distances to the base station and comparable received signal power have a strong likelihood of experiencing similar channel fading. Massive experiments performed that reveal that, compared with the benchmarks, the proposed framework significantly reduces the computational overhead of end users by 16%, improves data privacy, and improves channel estimation accuracy by 20%. © 2025, CC BY.

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) offer a promising solution for enhancing network coverage, reliability, and data speed in future wireless network generations. However, deploying UAVs as aerial base stations requires careful consideration of crucial design factors, including three-dimensional (3D) placement and performance optimization tailored to specific applications. In this paper, the 3D placement of multiple UAVs, acting as aerial base stations, is investigated in a dynamic user scenario. First, a closed-form expression for the coverage probability is derived. Then, to maximize the network coverage and sum rate while ensuring reliable and energy efficient system, a joint multi-objective optimization problem is formulated considering the real-time user movements. To solve the problem, an improved Chaos-based Bonobo Optimizer (CBO) scheme is proposed which combines chaotic maps with the Bonobo Optimizer (BO) algorithm. The obtained results demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed approach compared with different benchmark algorithms. The results reveal that the proposed CBO algorithm offers a minimum of $\mathbf{1 5 \%}$ and $\mathbf{9 0} \mathbf{~ M b i t / s ~ i m p r o v e m e n t s ~}$ in coverage and sum rate, respectively.

Data-free knowledge distillation aims to learn a compact student network from a pre-trained large teacher network without using the original training data of the teacher network. Existing collection-based and generation-based methods train student networks by collecting massive real examples and generating synthetic examples, respectively. However, they inevitably become weak in practical scenarios due to the difficulties in gathering or emulating sufficient real-world data. To solve this problem, we propose a novel method called Hybrid Data-Free Distillation (HiDFD), which leverages only a small amount of collected data as well as generates sufficient examples for training student networks. Our HiDFD comprises two primary modules, i.e., the teacher-guided generation and student distillation. The teacher-guided generation module guides a Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) by the teacher network to produce high-quality synthetic examples from very few real-world collected examples. Specifically, we design a feature integration mechanism to prevent the GAN from overfitting and facilitate the reliable representation learning from the teacher network. Meanwhile, we drive a category frequency smoothing technique via the teacher network to balance the generative training of each category. In the student distillation module, we explore a data inflation strategy to properly utilize a blend of real and synthetic data to train the student network via a classifier-sharing-based feature alignment technique. Intensive experiments across multiple benchmarks demonstrate that our HiDFD can achieve state-of-the-art performance using 120 times less collected data than existing methods. With the ever-increasing popularity of web application programming interfaces (APIs) sharing communities, it is becoming a promising way for software developers to design and create their interesting Apps through composing a set of selected web APIs that can collectively fulfill the App functions expected by the App developer. However, the App developer's web APIs selection decision-makings are often nontrivial due to the massive candidate APIs as well as their diverse functions. Furthermore, it is difficult to guarantee that the selected web APIs are compatible enough. Moreover, traditional web APIs recommendation approaches only return a recommended APIs list, which are often not sufficient to accommodate the App developer's undetermined and fuzzy personalized preferences. Considering the above challenges, a novel keywords-driven web APIs recommendation approach called keywords-driven and compatibility-aware multiple API group recommendation is proposed in this article for green and compatible software, which cannot only satisfy the App developer's functional requirements, but also return a group of web APIs recommended lists. Each returned list includes a set of compatible web APIs. Finally, we design a series of experiments based on a real-world web APIs dataset, that is, PW dataset crawled from ***. Experimental reports compared with other competitive approaches in existing literatures indicate the effectiveness and efficiency of our proposal in this work. © 2020 John Wiley & Sons Ltd

Imagined speech production with electrocorticography (ECoG) plays a crucial role in brain-computer interface system. A challenging issue is the great variation underlying the frequency bands of the ECoG signals’ encode information, which makes current methods difficult to generate imagined speech with stable quality among different persons. To this end, we propose a robust model to generate high-quality imagined speech from ECoG. A frequency enhancement branch is first designed to adaptively modulate the frequency information, whose product is fed into the following multi-scale channel attention module for robust feature extraction and fusion. By incorporating both the mel-spectrum and audio as training constraints, a multi-constraint decoder branch is finally constructed for imagined speech production. The performance of our model is evaluated on a high-quality dateset, i.e, Single Word Production Dutch-iBIDS. It yields Pearson correlation scores that are all above 0.8, and the standard deviationsare are all below 0.2 in different volunteers. Experimental results demonstrate that our model is effective and robust for ECoG based imagined speech production, and has advantages over peer methods.
