Methods based on dynamically expanding architectures can effectively mitigate catastrophic forgetting in class incremental learning (CIL), but they often overlook information sharing and integration between subnetworks, leading to performance degradation and increased parameter count and memory consumption as the network expands. To address these complex issues, we introduce a new method called Task Separation and Knowledge Sharing (TSKS), which transfers knowledge at both the logical and feature levels through Hybrid Knowledge Distillation (HKD). In logical distillation, we combine Global Knowledge Distillation (GKD) and Task Knowledge Distillation (TKD) to establish connections between tasks. To prevent the model from favoring new classes, we design an Attention- Based Feature Fusion (ABFF) mechanism to capture important features. Additionally, we introduce a Soft-Margin Auxiliary Loss (SMAL) to help the model learn new concepts. Extensive experiments show that TSKS outperforms existing models on CIFAR100 and ImageNet100, regardless of whether memory samples are used. Notably, TSKS demonstrates superior performance in memory-free settings, indicating a reduced reliance on rehearsal memory.

Towards a Unified Transformer-based Framework for Scene Graph Generation and Human-object Interaction Detection

Scene graph generation (SGG) and human-object interaction (HOI) detection are two important visual tasks aiming at localising and recognising relationships between objects, and interactions between humans and objects, respectively. Prevailing works treat these tasks as distinct tasks, leading to the development of task-specific models tailored to individual datasets. However, we posit that the presence of visual relationships can furnish crucial contextual and intricate relational cues that significantly augment the inference of human-object interactions. This motivates us to think if there is a natural intrinsic relationship between the two tasks, where scene graphs can serve as a source for inferring human-object interactions. In light of this, we introduce SG2HOI+, a unified one-step model based on the Transformer architecture. Our approach employs two interactive hierarchical Transformers to seamlessly unify the tasks of SGG and HOI detection. Concretely, we initiate a relation Transformer tasked with generating relation triples from a suite of visual features. Subsequently, we employ another transformer-based decoder to predict human-object interactions based on the generated relation triples. A comprehensive series of experiments conducted across established benchmark datasets including Visual Genome, V-COCO, and HICO-DET demonstrates the compelling performance of our SG2HOI+ model in comparison to prevalent one-stage SGG models. Remarkably, our approach achieves competitive performance when compared to state-of-the-art HOI methods. Additionally, we observe that our SG2HOI+ jointly trained on both SGG and HOI tasks in an end-to-end manner yields substantial improvements for both tasks compared to individualized training paradigms. © 2023, CC BY.

The data is clustered by rule-based machine learning, and the business information data model is used for analysis. Finally, the visualization report is generated by big data visualization software. The system uses intelligent Retrieval technology to automatically complete the functions from acquisition to processing automatically, to generate data information to meet the application requirements, uses Automatic Classification Technology to provide automatic classification function combining machine-based automatic learning and rule-based information, and uses Personalized Display Technology to provide customizable personalized display pages for individuals, to organize and adjust the hot information, thematic information, clustering, related words, early warning, statistics and other information released by the system. Remote Access Services (RAS)-including protocols such as Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), Secure Shell (SSH), Virtual Network computing (VNC), Telnet, File Transfer Protocol (FTP), and Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP)-are essential to modern network infrastructures, particularly with the rise of remote work and cloud adoption. However, their exposure significantly increases the risk of brute-force attacks (BFA), where adversaries systematically guess credentials to gain unauthorized access. Traditional defenses like IP blocklisting and multifactor authentication (MFA) often struggle with scalability and adaptability to distributed attacks. This study introduces a zero-trust-aligned Software-Defined Perimeter (SDP) architecture that integrates Single Packet Authorization (SPA) for service cloaking and Connection Tracking (ConnTrack) for real-time session analysis. A Docker-based prototype was developed and tested, demonstrating no successful BFA attempts observed, latency reduction by above 10% across all evaluated RAS protocols, and the system CPU utilization reduction by 48.7% under attack conditions without impacting normal throughput. It also proved effective against connection-oriented attacks, including port scanning and distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks. The proposed architecture offers a scalable and efficient security framework by embedding proactive defense at the authentication layer. This work advances zero-trust implementations and delivers practical, low-overhead protection for securing RAS against evolving cyber threats.

Federated Graph Learning (FGL) has garnered widespread attention by enabling collaborative training on multiple clients for semi-supervised classification tasks. However, most existing FGL studies do not well consider the missing inter-client topology information in real-world scenarios, causing insufficient feature aggregation of multi-hop neighbor clients during model training. Moreover, the classic FGL commonly adopts the FedAvg but neglects the high training costs when the number of clients expands, resulting in the overload of a single edge server. To address these important challenges, we propose a novel FGL framework, named SpreadFGL, to promote the information flow in edge-client collaboration and extract more generalized potential relationships between clients. In SpreadFGL, an adaptive graph imputation generator incorporated with a versatile assessor is first designed to exploit the potential links between subgraphs, without sharing raw data. Next, a new negative sampling mechanism is developed to make SpreadFGL concentrate on more refined information in downstream tasks. To facilitate load balancing at the edge layer, SpreadFGL follows a distributed training manner that enables fast model convergence. Using real-world testbed and benchmark graph datasets, extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed SpreadFGL. The results show that SpreadFGL achieves higher accuracy and faster convergence against state-of-the-art algorithms.

Diffusion MRI (dMRI) is widely used for the detection and diagnosis of various pathologies due to its non-invasive nature. However, its signal acquisition process is relatively slow and susceptible to motions. In order to accelerate reconstruction process, many deep learning-based methods have been developed in recent years to achieve promising results, while most of them are supervised based methods and require fully sampled data which are difficult to obtain in practical applications to train the network. Self-supervised based methods were proposed to deal with this problem to a certain extent, however, they are devoted only to conventional MRI data, ignoring the correlation between the directions of dMRI data. To address this issue, we propose a self-supervised fast reconstruction method for dMRI based on multi-directional assistance. The method better utilizes the information between dMRI data directions by Partition-Replace operation, cleverly constructing data pairs and designing effective self-supervised strategy for bi-directional prediction, which can overcome the problem of data incompleteness and guide the model to reconstruct unsampled signals in spite of the difficulty of acquiring fully sampled data. Experimental results show that our method achieves better reconstruction in the absence of fully sampled data, even with an 8-fold acceleration factor. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents a prototype of an authoring tool to allow users to collaboratively build, annotate, manage, share and reuse collections of distributed resources from the World Wide Web. This extends on the Walden's Path project's work to help educators bring resources found on the World Wide Web into a linear contextualized structure. The introduction of collaborative authoring feature fosters collaborative learning activities through social interaction among participants, where participants can coauthor paths in groups. Besides, the prototype supports path sharing, branching and reusing;specifically, individual participant can contribute to the group with private collections of knowledge resources;paths completed by group can be shared among group members, such that participants can tailor, extend, reorder and/or replace nodes to have sub versions of shared paths for different information needs. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.

Accurate brain tumor segmentation of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) images requires the integration of multimodal data in effective collaborative learning. However, clinical scenarios often face missing modalities, significantly impacting segmentation performance. In this paper, we propose the penta-encoder with medical transformer (Penta-MedTrans) for incomplete multimodal learning, which consists of four main components: a modality-specific encoder (MSE), a modality-dynamic encoder (MDE), a multimodal fusion module (MMFM) and a convolutional decoder. The MSE extracts unique features for each modality, while the MDE captures inter-modal semantics to address missing modalities. The MMFM establishes and aligns long-range correlations between modal-invariant features and global semantics of tumor regions. The convolutional decoder generates robust segmentation results by progressively upsampling and fusing modality-invariant features. We extensively validated our method on the BraTS 2020 and BraTS 2021 datasets for brain tumor segmentation. Results showed that our method outperforms SOTA for incomplete multimodal brain tumor segmentation across most subsets. © 2024 IEEE.

In order to achieve more efficient and accurate DDoS detection while ensuring data privacy, this paper proposes a DDoS detection method based on FLAD. Firstly, this paper uses the FLAD algorithm to train a global DDoS detection model without leaving local traffic data, protecting the privacy and security of traffic data between different hosts, and improving aggregation efficiency by dynamically adjusting the aggregation weights to adapt to different sub-dataset increments. Secondly, a DDoS traffic detection method based on the integration of LSTM and CNN is proposed, which extracts and analyzes the temporal correlation of traffic data by calculating the statistical characteristics of traffic data within a time period, to achieve real-time detection of traffic feature data. Again, combined with the concept of SDN, real-time defense against DDoS based on ODL-API is implemented, and precise matching of DDoS detection results with network entity information is achieved, realizing the technology of real-time and precise issuance of multiple flow rules, effectively blocking DDoS malicious attack traffic, protecting important entities in the topology, and maintaining stable traffic in the topology. This paper focuses on solving the detection problem of DDoS traffic data increments and uneven data distribution through the FLAD algorithm. Experimental results show that the proposed method improves the accuracy of DDoS attack detection by more than 4% and the F1 Score by more than 7% compared to the FedAvg aggregation algorithm.

aNMM: Ranking short answer texts with attention-based neural matching model

As an alternative to question answering methods based on feature engineering, deep learning approaches such as convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and Long Short-Term Memory Models (LSTMs) have recently been proposed for semantic matching of questions and answers. To achieve good results, however, these models have been combined with additional features such as word overlap or BM25 scores. Without this combination, these models perform significantly worse than methods based on linguistic feature engineering. In this paper, we propose an attention based neural matching model for ranking short answer text. We adopt value-shared weighting scheme instead of position-shared weighting scheme for combining different matching signals and incorporate question term importance learning using question attention network. Using the popular benchmark TREC QA data, we show that the relatively simple aNMM model can significantly outperform other neural network models that have been used for the question answering task, and is competitive with models that are combined with additional features.
