Design of Enterprise Storage Architecture for Optimal Business Continuity

This paper presents a solution for optimal business continuity, with storage architecture for enterprise applications, which will ensure zero data loss and quick recovery. The solution makes use of Internet protocol storage area network （IPSAN）, which is used for data management without burdening the application server, as well as mix of synchronous and semi-synchronous replication techniques to replicate data to remote disaster recovery site. We have presented the detailed design of both synchronous and semi-synchronous with case study of using open source database postgres to prove our point for optimal business continuity. The theoretical presentation is also given for the same.

Transforming agricultural waste into biofuels and bioproducts is crucial to advancing a low-carbon bioeconomy. However, the inherent variability in the composition and quality introduces uncertainties in the conversion efficiency and poses challenges in process development. Through integrating a high-throughput conversion system, material characterization techniques, and advanced data analysis tools, this study investigates the variability of corn stover and its subsequent impacts on carbohydrate conversion. The findings reveal that indoor storage substantially reduces the moisture and ash content and soil contamination, while other properties remain largely unchanged. Self-degradation due to microbial activity during storage decreases the carbohydrate content of corn stover but enhances glucose and xylose yields. A negative correlation is observed between sugar yields and lignin content across samples with varying ash and moisture content. The inhibitory effect of lignin diminishes in self-degraded samples likely due to the disrupted cell wall structure. Although self-degradation slightly increases cellulose crystallinity, no strong correlation was observed between the crystallinity and sugar yield. Hot water pretreatment under mild conditions effectively mitigates inherent variability, consistently improving the sugar yield from corn stover by up to 50%. By elucidating the feedstock variability and its impact on convertibility, these findings offer valuable insights into appropriate feedstock handling and management, highlighting potential strategies to address variability challenges. © 2025 American Chemical Society.

Most digital cameras use color filter arrays of different patterns to capture color image. The output of the color filter array is a sampled version of the original color image. Demosaicing algorithms are used to reconstruct the original color image from this sampled version. Medical image analysis is increasing day by day. The amount of data to be saved is also on the increase. Standard compression techniques like JPEG if used may cause loss of diagnostic data which cannot be tolerated. So if a proper demosaicing algorithm can be found such that there is not much loss of data in reconstruction then the images can be saved in raw format and color image can be reconstructed using this algorithm, when needed, leading to a great amount of compression. This paper studies and compares different existing demosaicing algorithms to find a suitable algorithm for this application. © 2012 IEEE.

TARO test patterns are transition fault test patterns that sensitize each transition fault to all of the outputs that can be reached from the fault location. We were not able to identify any ATPG tool that can generate TARO test patterns directly. This paper describes a technique to use an existing transition fault ATPG tool to efficiently generate TARO test patterns. This technique was used to generate TARO patterns for the ELF35 test chip. When these patterns were applied to the ELF 35 chips, all of the defective chips were discovered (no test escapes). © 2005 IEEE.

Perception of establishing a Security Operations Centre (SOC) depends on the criticality of information assurance and security operations in response to the ever-changing security threat landscape and adoption of formal security standards. From a security perspective, both IT and OT systems are vulnerable to similar threats—botnets, script kiddies, viruses and other malware. The key difference between the two environments, however, has to do with human safety. Typically critical infrastructures are provided with security measures like firewall, demilitarized zones, Intrusion prevention systems (IPS), Intrusion detection systems (IDS), anti virus etc. However, with new threats always around the corner, it's important to have a dedicated infrastructure to deal with these problems, like the SOC. SOC is a centralized unit that deals with security issues on an organizational and technical level. It can be used by utilities which form a part of critical infrastructure like power systems for any threat detection and taking timely action. Typically, SOC is divided into four layers i.e. data collection source, data processing, technologies and display platform. This paper gives an in depth review and comparison of the machine learning models that can be used by the SOC at different layers. Different machine learning models are to be applied at different layers, so its required to evaluate which models give better accuracy in detecting threats. The need for automatic and high-quality emotion annotation is paramount in applications such as continuous emotion recognition and video highlight detection, yet achieving this through manual human annotations is challenging. Inspired by inter-subject correlation (ISC) utilized in neuroscience, this study introduces a novel Electroencephalography (EEG) based ISC methodology that leverages a single-electrode and feature-based dynamic approach. Our contributions are three folds: Firstly, we reidentify two potent emotion features suitable for classifying emotions-first-order difference (FD) an differential entropy (DE). Secondly, through the use of overall correlation analysis, we demonstrate the heterogeneous synchronized performance of electrodes. This performance aligns with neural emotion patterns established in prior studies, thus validating the effectiveness of our approach. Thirdly, by employing a sliding window correlation technique, we showcase the significant consistency of dynamic ISCs across various features or key electrodes in each analyzed film clip. Our findings indicate the method’s reliability in capturing consistent, dynamic shared neural synchrony among individuals, triggered by evocative film stimuli. This underscores the potential of our approach to serve as an indicator of continuous human emotion arousal. The implications of this research are significant for advancements in affective computing and the broader neuroscience field, suggesting a streamlined and effective tool for emotion analysis in real-world applications. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

This paper presents a novel approach to prevent execution of malicious files on host system present in the network. For preventing a malicious file at gateway level, it is required to do reassembly of packets which in turn reduces the network performance by huge margins. This work combines static and dynamic analysis approaches and implements a minimal agent based system to prevent malicious files and in turn increase the dependability using existing systems.

Constant increase in urban road traffic is forcing traffic authorities to confront unavoidable congestion problems these days. This creates new challenges for city planners to generate traffic routes with better designs and improve the existing roads. In order to analyze and improve traffic routes, there is a need to understand movement patterns of major vehicular traffic inside the city. Origin Destination(OD) estimation is one such method for understanding the movement patterns. The objective is to find an optimal OD matrix for city traffic, which is a subtle process for classic algorithms. The solution to this problem is Genetic Algorithm (GA) approach which is a search heuristics to find optimal solution from a set of random solutions. A Genetic Algorithm approach has been developed to find an optimal OD matrix, showing the actual travel patterns of significant number of vehicles inside the city. Once the best OD matrix is obtained, it yields a big opportunity for traffic planners to analyze and improve traffic scenario. Genetic Algorithm can play a major role in solving complex problems. In this paper, one such problem of estimating OD matrix of a city is discussed and implemented. In conjunction to genetic algorithm, Mean Absolute Percentage Error(MAPE) has been used as a fitness criteria for finding the optimal OD matrix.

Distributed computing is the method of running CPU intensive computations on multiple computers collectively in order to achieve a common objective. Common problems that can be solved on the distributed systems include climate/weather modeling, earthquake simulation, evolutionary computing problems and so on. These type of problems may involve billions or even trillions of computations. A single computer is not capable to finish these computations in short span of time, which is typically in days. Distributed computation helps to solve these problems in hours, which could take weeks to solve on a single computer. Distributed computing generally uses the existing resources of the organization. Traffic simulation is the process of simulating transportation systems through software on a virtual road network. Traffic simulation helps in analyzing city traffic at different time intervals of a single day. Common use cases could be analyzing city wide traffic, estimating traffic demand at a particular traffic junction and so on. This paper discusses about the approach to use distributed computing paradigm for optimizing the traffic simulations. Optimizing simulations involves running a number of traffic simulations followed by estimating the nearness of that simulation to the real available traffic data. This real data could be obtained by either manual counting at traffic junctions, or using the probes such as loop inductors, CCTV cameras etc. This distributed computing based approach works to find the best traffic simulation corresponding to the real data in hand, using evolutionary computing technique.
