Synergistic roles of platinum nanoparticles and sodium ions within beta zeolites in N-alkylation of amines with aromatic alcohols

N-alkylation of amines with alcohols is a promising green route for the synthesis of N-alkylamines, but the designation of highly active and stable heterogeneous catalysts remains one challenge. In this work, we initiated the application of zeolite-encapsulated noble metal nanoparticles(NPs) in the N-alkylation of amines with aromatic alcohols. Platinum(Pt) NPs were directly confined into the framework of BEA zeolite with tunable Si/Al molar ratios and Na^(+) contents. The champion catalyst afforded the extremely high turnover number(TON) of 6,176 and turnover frequency(TOF) of 3,390 h^(-1) plus stable recyclability and broad substrate compatibility. The Na ions modulated the electronic state of Pt NPs to reach a moderate Pt–H strength, which wellbalanced the two crucial steps of dehydrogenation and H-transfer and accounted for the high catalytic performance. The encapsulation of zeolites provided spatial satisfaction for the synergy effect above and enhanced the stabilization of Pt NPs.

Segmenting Anything in the Dark via Depth Perception

Image segmentation under low-light conditions is essential in real-world applications, such as autonomous driving and video surveillance systems. The recent Segment Anything Model (SAM) exhibits strong segmentation capability in various vision applications. However, its performance could be severely degraded under low-light conditions. On the other hand, multimodal information has been exploited to help models construct more comprehensive understanding of scenes under low-light conditions by providing complementary information (e.g., depth). Therefore, in this work, we present a pioneer attempt that elevates a unimodal vision foundation model (e.g., SAM) to a multimodal one, by efficiently integrating additional depth information under low-light conditions. To achieve that, we propose a novel method called Depth Perception SAM (DPSAM) based on the SAM framework. Specifically, we design a modality encoder to extract the depth information and the Depth Perception Layers (DPLs) for mutual feature refinement between RGB and depth features. The DPLs employ the cross-modal attention mechanism to mutually query effective information from both RGB and depth for the subsequent feature refinement. Thus, DPLs can effectively leverage the complementary information from depth to enrich the RGB representations and obtain comprehensive multimodal visual representations for segmenting anything in the dark. To this end, our DPSAM maximally maintains the instinct expertise of SAM for RGB image segmentation and further leverages on the strength of depth for enhanced segmenting anything capability, especially for cases that are likely to fail with RGB only (e.g., low-light or complex textures). As demonstrated by extensive experiments on four RGBD benchmark datasets, DPSAM clearly improves the performance for the segmenting anything performance in the dark, e.g., +12.90% mIoU and +16.23% mIoU on LLRGBD and DeLiVER, respectively. Biodegradable metals as electrodes, interconnectors, and device conductors are essential components in the emergence of transient electronics, either for passive implants or active electronic devices, especially in the fields of biomedical electronics. Magnesium and its alloys are strong candidates for biodegradable and implantable conducting materials because of their high conductivity and biocompatibility, in addition to their well-understood dissolution behavior. One critical drawback of Mg and its alloys is their considerably high dissolution rates originating from their low anodic potential, which disturbs the compatibility to biomedical applications. Herein, we introduce a single-phase thin film of a Mg-Zn binary alloy formed by sputtering, which enhances the corrosion resistance of the device electrode, and verify its applicability in biodegradable electronics. The formation of a homogeneous solid solution of single-phase Mg-3Zn was confirmed through X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. In addition, the dissolution behavior and chemistry was also investigated in various biological fluids by considering the effect of different ion species. Micro-tensile tests showed that the Mg-3Zn alloy electrode exhibited an enhanced yield strain and elongation in relation to a pure Mg electrode. Cell viability test revealed the high biocompatibility rate of the Mg-3Zn binary alloy thin film. Finally, the fabrication of a wireless heater demonstrated the integrability of biodegradable electrodes and highlighted the ability to prolong the lifecycle of thermotherapy-relevant electronics by enhancing the dissolution resistance of the Mg alloy.

Efforts to develop organometallic complexes for catalytic nitrogen reduction have seen significant progress in recent ***,the strategies for improving the activity of the homogenous catalysts have mainly focused on alternating ligands and ***,we report that the activity and stability of a PN_(P-Mo pincer complex(2)toward dinitrogen(N_(2))reduction were greatly enhanced through postmodification of the PN^(3)P pincer framework of its parent complex(1).A high ratio of NH_(3)/Mo(3525)was achieved in the presence of SmI_(2)as a *** sharp contrast,1 only afforded an NH_(3)/Mo ratio of ***,when supported by an anionic pincer ligand,2 furnished a high oxidation state Mo(V)-nitride complex via N_(2)cleavage as a plausible key intermediate in the catalytic process,suggesting a catalytic cycle that may involve different oxidation states(Ⅱ/Ⅴ)from those with 10-πelectron configuration in the literature.

The effective prediction of sea surface temperature has become a hot topic of scientific research. The hidden characteristics and time characteristics of sea surface temperature are studied, and a new sea surface temperature prediction model SLA based on decomposition is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the trend term and periodic seasonal term of sea surface temperature were decomposed by STL decomposition algorithm, which improved the problem of single characteristics of sea surface. Secondly, on the basis of the calculation method of the improved LSTM model and the attention mechanism, the problem that the prediction of sea surface temperature cannot be remembered in the long term and the influence weight of historical information is ignored is solved. Finally, the sea surface temperature of the South China Sea (112.125E,10.125N) was taken as the research object, and the experimental verification was carried out in three data sets. The experimental results show that the SLA model proposed in this paper has good prediction accuracy. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Color image restoration by filtering methods: a review

Digital images are corrupted with noise, and image denoising is an important step in image processing modules. In this review, the latest developments in filtering methods for color image restoration are analyzed. These algorithms are compared in terms of objective image quality measures and divided into major classes, such as spatial domain, switching and wavelet filtering methods. These classes are based on the particular methodology used in image denoising algorithms and further subdivided to show their classification in terms of noise models utilized, application style, and stages the filters applied in images. In particular, we present a review of filtering methods in color image denoising, published over the past two decades. Our classification and succinct descriptions of color image restoration by these mathematical filtering techniques and their characterizations can help choose the appropriate ones for various downstream image processing tasks. © The Author(s) 2024.

Stackelberg Evolutionary Game (SEG) theory models the interacting dynamics between a rational leader and a population of evolving followers, merging classical and evolutionary game theory. Although both methods are welldeveloped individually, the potential of SEG itself has not been appropriately recognized. Thus, in this paper we propose a novel eco-evolutionary model with resource mutualism and competition and we introduce a control framework based on SEGs, to steer the eco-evolutionary dynamics of followers at will. As a case study, we consider the treatment of cancer, where tumour cells are the followers that evolve in response to changes in the tumour micro-environment (and thus on available resources) and to the medical therapy, where the physician is the leader. An interesting aspect of this approach is that the objective function can be tailored according to the goal, e.g. jointly balancing tumour size, developed resistance, and toxicity of therapy, to ensure maximum quality of life for the patient. Simulations confirm the effectiveness and the potential of the proposed approach. © 2024 IEEE.

Deep multi-view clustering (MVC) has recently gained significant interest for its capability to harness complementary information across multiple views through deep neural networks, enhancing clustering performance. However, existing deep MVC methods still have two issues: (1) They separate the feature learning objective and the clustering objective, potentially leading to suboptimal embedding features due to the neglect of the global clustering structure. (2) Most works utilize the target distribution obtained by the clustering objective to supervise feature learning. However, they simply sharpen the soft clustering distribution to obtain the target distribution, lacking the dynamics of the clustering process. To address these issues, in this paper we propose a novel end-to-end self-supervised multi-view clustering approach based on NeuralODEs, namely nmODE-MVC. Our approach operates in two stages: In the first stage, all view-embedded features are extracted, and then unified them into a global feature, facilitating global clustering assignments by exploiting multi-view data's complementarity. The second stage leverages the dynamic attributes of NeuralODEs to dynamically refine the data features and generate a target distribution that actively drives the clustering decisions. We formulate these learning processes as a unified optimization problem, facilitating iterative training and refinement. The effectiveness of nmODE-MVC is validated through extensive experiments on multiple real-world multi-view datasets. © 2023 IEEE.

Nanoscale ruthenium(Ru)-based materials are promising replacements for existing multilayered Cu interconnects in integrated ***,it is not easy to apply the results of previously reported studies directly to the electrochemical damascene process because the previous studies have mainly focused on thin flms by dry ***,we report the electrical resistivity and microstructure of electrodeposited Ru *** estimate that the resistivity value of a 10 nm diameter Ru nanowire to be71.6μΩcm after analyzing the resistivity values of individual nanowires with various ***,we investigate the electrical properties of Ru_(x)Co_(1-x)nanowires where x is 0.04–0.99 at.%as possible replacements of the current Ta N barrier *** the entire composition range,the resistivity values of alloys are much lower than that of the conventional Ta ***,Ru and Ru-alloy nanowires surrounded by dielectric silica are thermally stable after 450°C heat ***,the nanoscale Ru and Ru-Co alloys possessing low resistivity values can be candidates for the interconnect and barrier materials,respectively.
