Learning continuous network emerging dynamics from scarce observations via data-adaptive stochastic processes

Learning network dynamics from the empirical structure and spatio-temporal observation data is crucial to revealing the interaction mechanisms of complex networks in a wide range of domains. However,most existing methods only aim at learning network dynamic behaviors generated by a specific ordinary differential equation instance, resulting in ineffectiveness for new ones, and generally require dense *** observed data, especially from network emerging dynamics, are usually difficult to obtain, which brings trouble to model learning. Therefore, learning accurate network dynamics with sparse, irregularly-sampled,partial, and noisy observations remains a fundamental challenge. We introduce a new concept of the stochastic skeleton and its neural implementation, i.e., neural ODE processes for network dynamics(NDP4ND), a new class of stochastic processes governed by stochastic data-adaptive network dynamics, to overcome the challenge and learn continuous network dynamics from scarce observations. Intensive experiments conducted on various network dynamics in ecological population evolution, phototaxis movement, brain activity, epidemic spreading, and real-world empirical systems, demonstrate that the proposed method has excellent data adaptability and computational efficiency, and can adapt to unseen network emerging dynamics, producing accurate interpolation and extrapolation with reducing the ratio of required observation data to only about 6% and improving the learning speed for new dynamics by three orders of magnitude.

Prenatal depression,which can affect pregnant women’s physical and psychological health and cause postpartum depression,is increasing ***,it is essential to detect prenatal depression early and conduct an attribution *** studies have used questionnaires to screen for prenatal depression,but the existing methods lack *** diagnose the early signs of prenatal depression and identify the key factors that may lead to prenatal depression from questionnaires,we present the semantically enhanced option embedding(SEOE)model to represent questionnaire *** can quantitatively determine the relationship and patterns between options and *** first quantifies options and resorts them,gathering options with little difference,since Word2Vec is highly dependent on *** resort task is transformed into an optimization problem involving the traveling salesman ***,all questionnaire samples are used to train the options’vector using ***,an LSTM and GRU fused model incorporating the cycle learning rate is constructed to detect whether a pregnant woman is suffering from *** verify the model,we compare it with other deep learning and traditional machine learning *** experiment results show that our proposed model can accurately identify pregnant women with depression and reach an F1 score of *** most relevant factors of depression found by SEOE are also verified in the *** addition,our model is of low computational complexity and strong generalization,which can be widely applied to other questionnaire analyses of psychiatric disorders.

Drug-Drug Interaction (DDI) task plays a crucial role in clinical treatment and drug development. Recently, deep learning methods have been successfully applied for DDI prediction. However, training deep learning models always need large amount of data, while known DDIs are scarce. To address this challenge, a graph neural network-based DDI prediction model named PNESR-DDI is proposed, which compensates for the lack of DDIs by enriching drug representations. First, to obtain initial node representations that incorporate rich semantic information from the biomedical knowledge graph (KG), a link prediction pre-training method on external KG is proposed in the node embedding pre-training module. Then, considering the large scale of the KG, subgraph extraction for the target drug pairs is introduced to reduce noise and decrease computational complexity in the subgraph anchoring module. After that, the subgraph is updated, and node similarities are propagated in the subgraph reconstruction module. Based on the node similarity scores, the subgraph is pruned and reconstructed, which adjusts node representations to be more conducive to DDI prediction. Finally, the drug embeddings, subgraph representations, and drug fingerprint features are concatenated to predict DDIs. PNESRDDI is evaluated on two benchmark DDI datasets: DrugBank and TWOSIDES. Experiment results show that PNESR-DDI achieves better performance than baselines. Ablation results validate the effectiveness of the pre-training method and the adaptive subgraph reconstruction strategy. © 2024 IEEE.

The virtual test platform is a vital tool for ship simulation and testing. However, the numerical pool ship virtual test platform is a complex system that comprises multiple heterogeneous data types, such as relational data, files, text, images, and animations. The analysis, evaluation, and decision-making processes heavily depend on data, which continue to increase in size and complexity. As a result, there is an increasing need for a distributed database system to manage these data. In this paper, we propose a Key-Value database based on a distributed system that can operate on any type of data, regardless of its size or type. This database architecture supports class column storage and load balancing and optimizes the efficiency of I/O bandwidth and CPU resource utilization. Moreover, it is specifically designed to handle the storage and access of large files. Additionally, we propose a multimodal data fusion mechanism that can connect various descriptions of the same substance, enabling the fusion and retrieval of heterogeneous multimodal data to facilitate data analysis. Our approach focuses on indexing and storage, and we compare our solution with Redis, MongoDB, and MySQL through experiments. We demonstrate the performance, scalability, and reliability of our proposed database system while also analysing its architecture's defects and providing optimization solutions and future research directions. The rapid evolution of wireless communication technologies and the increasing demand for multi-functional systems have led to the emergence of integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) as a key enabler for future 6G networks. Simultaneously transmitting and reflecting reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (STAR-RISs) have recently garnered significant attention for their ability to enhance signal coverage and improve system efficiency. This paper investigates a STAR-RIS-assisted ISAC system designed to secure communication for multiple legitimate users (LUs) while safeguarding against multiple eavesdroppers (Eves). By jointly optimizing the base station (BS) transmit beamforming, STAR-RIS transmission and reflection coefficients, and receive filters, the proposed framework aims to maximize the long-term average secrecy rate for all LUs. Constraints are imposed to ensure minimum echo signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) for sensing and meet the achievable rate requirements of LUs. To address the inherent complexity of this non-convex problem, two deep reinforcement learning (DRL) algorithms are proposed. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed system achieves significant improvements in secrecy rate compared to conventional RIS setups. This work provides a scalable and efficient approach for secure multi-user ISAC systems, making it highly relevant for future 6G networks, smart cities, and IoT applications. © 2025 The Authors.

Named entity recognition (NER) in electronic medical records (EMRs) is critical for identifying medical entities, constructing medical knowledge graphs, and supporting clinical decision-making. However, the scarcity of EMR datasets and the challenges posed by the complexity of Chinese medical texts hinder progress in this area. To address these issues, we introduce CMR-NER, a nested named entity recognition model that enhances entity prediction by integrating multiple features and considering a global view of entity boundaries. Leveraging the robust generalization capabilities of the large language model, CMR-NER involves collaboration with medical experts to ensure accuracy and reduce annotation costs. Additionally, we present HF-NER, a high-quality dataset specifically curated for Chinese EMR entity recognition focusing on heart failure. This dataset, constructed through a methodology combining ChatGPT's capabilities and expert validation, is a significant contribution to the field. It facilitates a comprehensive evaluation of CMR-NER. Experimental results demonstrate that our approach achieves comparable or superior performance to existing methods, underscoring its effectiveness in this challenging domain. © 2024 IEEE.

Support Vector Machine(SVM)has become one of the traditional machine learning algorithms the most used in prediction and classification ***,its behavior strongly depends on some parameters,making tuning these parameters a sensitive step to maintain a good *** the other hand,and as any other classifier,the performance of SVM is also affected by the input set of features used to build the learning model,which makes the selection of relevant features an important task not only to preserve a good classification accuracy but also to reduce the dimensionality of *** this paper,the MRFO+SVM algorithm is introduced by investigating the recent manta ray foraging optimizer to fine-tune the SVM parameters and identify the optimal feature subset *** proposed approach is validated and compared with four SVM-based algorithms over eight benchmarking ***,it is applied to a disease Covid-19 *** experimental results show the high ability of the proposed algorithm to find the appropriate SVM’s parameters,and its acceptable performance to deal with feature selection problem.

This paper proposes an innovative stakeholder-centric approach for managing prosumer exports in distribution networks ensuring stakeholder benefits. The rapid inclusion of photovoltaic (PV) systems leads to excessive exports, affecting the stability and performance of the distribution networks and fostering effective export management. In addition, the emergence of vehicle-to-grid (V2G) services presents challenges that may exacerbate export-related issues. Several distribution companies use fixed export limits for PV prosumers without looking at network performance. Current studies suggest dynamic limits to unlock export capabilities, providing variable export opportunities while neglecting diverse capabilities and nodal disparities of prosumers. By amalgamating dynamic export limits and prosumer priority indexing, this paper endeavours to derive individualized export limits in distribution networks. This research examined dynamic export capabilities on a real Australian suburban distribution feeder with 966 customers utilizing diverse capacities, nodal situations, and network uncertainties. The prosumer priority ranking is based on nodal constraints, time, and individual capabilities. The paper highlights participatory export limits, utilizing dynamic export limits and individual rankings, to offer enhanced export flexibility, benefiting stakeholders both distribution network operators and prosumers. These stakeholder-centric export limits provide a promising avenue for seamless PV and V2G integration toward a sustainable and resilient energy ecosystem. © The Institution of engineering & Technology 2024.

In order to address the critical security challenges inherent to Wireless Sensor Networks(WSNs),this paper presents a groundbreaking barrier-based machine learning *** applications like military operations,healthcare monitoring,and environmental surveillance increasingly deploy WSNs,recognizing the critical importance of effective intrusion detection in protecting sensitive data and maintaining operational *** proposed method innovatively partitions the network into logical segments or virtual barriers,allowing for targeted monitoring and data collection that aligns with specific traffic *** approach not only improves the *** are more types of data in the training set,and this method uses more advanced machine learning models,like Convolutional Neural Networks(CNNs)and Long Short-Term Memory(LSTM)networks together,to see coIn our work,we used five different types of machine learning *** are the forward artificial neural network(ANN),the CNN-LSTM hybrid models,the LR meta-model for linear regression,the Extreme Gradient Boosting(XGB)regression,and the ensemble *** implemented Random Forest(RF),Gradient Boosting,and XGBoost as baseline *** train and evaluate the five models,we used four possible features:the size of the circular area,the sensing range,the communication range,and the number of sensors for both Gaussian and uniform sensor *** used Monte Carlo simulations to extract these *** on the comparison,the CNN-LSTM model with Gaussian distribution performs best,with an R-squared value of 99%and Root mean square error(RMSE)of 6.36%,outperforming all the other models.

Climate-induced disasters pose significant threats to human lives, infrastructure, and ecosystems. Deep learning techniques, combined with remote sensing, offer powerful tools for predicting, detecting, and mitigating the impacts of such disasters. This study presents a comprehensive interdisciplinary approach using a hybrid cascaded CNN-RNN model to perform spatio-temporal analysis, enhanced image segmentation with U-Net and SegNet architectures, and a hybrid CNN-LSTM-XGBoost ensemble for multi-hazard prediction. The proposed CNN-RNN model achieves an accuracy of 96.78%, significantly outperforming traditional models in predicting flood-prone areas, wildfires, and droughts. Key metrics such as Intersection over Union (IoU), precision, recall, and F1-scores are used to evaluate model performance, highlighting the model’s ability to accurately identify disaster-prone areas and improve disaster resilience. This research not only demonstrates the efficacy of deep learning for climate-induced disaster prediction but also paves the way for future integration of socio-economic data to refine disaster risk assessment. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.
