Natural Disasters (NDs), such as tsunamis, floods, and earthquakes, may cause damage to the transmission and distribution infrastructures as well as communication systems. In these situations, generators may even be intentionally shut down for security reasons. The result is a major power outage or a blackout, which may disrupt industrial production, disturb commercial and household activities and imperil human lives. Contrary to large-scale power systems, Micro Grids (MGs) may offer a higher resilience to NDs because of their compact sizes, manageable loads, and constrained bounds. Such an MG may include Photo-Voltaic (PV) system, Battery Energy Storage (BES) system, winds turbine, diesel generators, and local electric loads. It operates in grid-connected in normal conditions, and in islanded mode during NDs, ensuring that no disruption in the supply of critical loads happens. The main objective of this article is to study the planning of Community MG (CMG) for hospital loads to ensure high resilience against NDs. Hospital loads in the Northwest Lombok region of Indonesia are considered as the case study. The goal is to achieve three days of uninterruptible power supply during NDs. HOMER Grid carries out the simulation research. According to the results, the planned CMG could provide the necessary hospital load during the intended time period without any interruptions. © 2023 EPE Association.

Air-side economizers are increasingly used to take advantage of“free-cooling”in data centers with the intent of reducing the carbon footprint of ***,they can introduce outdoor pollutants to indoor environment of data centers and cause corrosion damage to the information technology *** evaluate the reliability of information technology equipment under various thermal and air-pollution conditions,a mechanistic model based on multi-ion transport and chemical reactions was *** model was used to predict Cu corrosion caused by Cl_(2)-containing pollutant *** also accounted for the effects of temperature(25℃and 28℃),relative humidity(50%,75%,and 95%),and *** also identified higher air temperature as a corrosion barrier and higher relative humidity as a corrosion accelerator,which agreed well with the experimental *** average root mean square error of the prediction was 13.7Å.The model can be used to evaluate the thermal guideline for data centers design and operation when Cl_(2)is present based on pre-established acceptable risk of corrosion in data centers’environment.

Linear active disturbance rejection control(LADRC)is a powerful control structure thanks to its performance in uncertainties,internal and external disturbances estimation and *** extended state observer(ESO)based controller is the key to the LADRC *** this article,the LADRC scheme combined with a fractional-order integral action(FOILADRC)is proposed to improve the robustness of the standard *** the robust closed-loop Bode’s ideal transfer function(BITF),an appropriate pole placement method is proposed to design the set-point tracking controller of the FOI-LADRC *** simulations and experimental results on a cart-pendulum system will illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed FOI-LADRC scheme for the disturbance rejection,the set-point tracking and the improved *** illustrate the LADRC control schemes and to verify the performance of the proposed FOI-LADRC,compared to the standard LADRC and IOI-LADRC structures,two tests will be carried ***,simulation tests on an academic example will be presented to show the effect of the different parameters of the control law on the performance of the closed-loop ***,these three control structures are implemented on an experimental test bench,the cart-pendulum system,to show their efficiency and to show the superiority of the proposed method compared to the two other structures.

A Bi-population Cooperative Optimization Algorithm Assisted by an Autoencoder for Medium-scale Expensive Problems

This study presents an autoencoder-embedded optimization(AEO)algorithm which involves a bi-population cooperative strategy for medium-scale expensive problems(MEPs).A huge search space can be compressed to an informative lowdimensional space by using an autoencoder as a dimension reduction *** search operation conducted in this low space facilitates the population with fast convergence towards the *** strike the balance between exploration and exploitation during optimization,two phases of a tailored teaching-learning-based optimization(TTLBO)are adopted to coevolve solutions in a distributed fashion,wherein one is assisted by an autoencoder and the other undergoes a regular evolutionary ***,a dynamic size adjustment scheme according to problem dimension and evolutionary progress is proposed to promote information exchange between these two phases and accelerate evolutionary convergence *** proposed algorithm is validated by testing benchmark functions with dimensions varying from 50 to *** indicated in our experiments,TTLBO is suitable for dealing with medium-scale problems and thus incorporated into the AEO framework as a base *** with the state-of-the-art algorithms for MEPs,AEO shows extraordinarily high efficiency for these challenging problems,t hus opening new directions for various evolutionary algorithms under AEO to tackle MEPs and greatly advancing the field of medium-scale computationally expensive optimization.

Sampled-Data Safe Stabilization of Nonlinear Time-Delay systems

In this paper, the sampled-data stabilization problem under safety constraints is studied for nonlinear time-delay systems. In particular, a methodology for the design of sampled-data safe stabilizers is provided for nonlinear systems affected by state delays. As a first step, the new notion of Safe Steepest Descent Feedback (SSDF), continuous or not, is introduced by suitably combining the well-known notions of Steepest Descent Feedbacks and Barrier functions considered to cope with safety requirements. Then, the stabilization in the sample-and-hold sense theory is used as a tool to show the existence of a suitably fast sampling such that: the digital implementation of SSDFs, continuous or not, ensures the semi–global practical safe stability property of the related closed-loop system with arbitrarily small final target ball of the origin. In the theory developed here, time-varying sampling periods are allowed. The proposed theoretical results are validated through an application concerning the plasma glucose regulation problem in Type-2 diabetic patients via artificial pancreas.

Group scheduling problems have attracted much attention owing to their many practical *** work proposes a new bi-objective serial-batch group scheduling problem considering the constraints of sequence-dependent setup time,release time,and due *** is originated from an important industrial process,i.e.,wire rod and bar rolling process in steel production *** objective functions,i.e.,the number of late jobs and total setup time,are minimized.A mixed integer linear program is established to describe the *** obtain its Pareto solutions,we present a memetic algorithm that integrates a population-based nondominated sorting genetic algorithm II and two single-solution-based improvement methods,i.e.,an insertion-based local search and an iterated greedy *** computational results on extensive industrial data with the scale of a one-week schedule show that the proposed algorithm has great performance in solving the concerned problem and outperforms its *** high accuracy and efficiency imply its great potential to be applied to solve industrial-size group scheduling problems.

In this paper,a deadlock prevention policy for robotic manufacturing cells with uncontrollable and unobservable events is proposed based on a Petri net ***,a Petri net for the deadlock control of such systems is *** admissible markings and first-met inadmissible markings(FIMs)are ***,place invariants are designed via an integer linear program(ILP)to survive all admissible markings and prohibit all FIMs,keeping the underlying system from reaching deadlocks,livelocks,bad markings,and the markings that may evolve into them by firing uncontrollable *** also ensures that the obtained deadlock-free supervisor does not observe any unobservable *** addition,the supervisor is guaranteed to be admissible and structurally minimal in terms of both control places and added *** condition under which the supervisor is maximally permissive in behavior is ***,experimental results with the proposed method and existing ones are given to show its effectiveness.

Various parameters influence on field distribution in eccentric disc-type permanent magnet machine based on analytical method

Eccentricity fault is a common fault in axial flux permanent magnet (PM) machines that can be destructive. The finite element method (FEM) has been already used for modelling eccentricity fault in disc type PM machine. Applying three-dimensional (3D) FEM to this motor is essential. However, 3D-FEM is a very time-consuming technique. Therefore, it is more appropriate to use an analytical technique to investigate the impact of different parameters upon the motor’s performance. The existing analytical methods usually represent a qualitative overview of the faulted machine. In this paper, a precise and quick analytic method is introduced, reflecting the impact of various important parameters, including rotor angle and fault position on the motor’s performance. This method enables the calculation of the induced voltage in a search coil. Comparing the results obtained from the proposed method and FEM, in both the no-load and full-load conditions, confirms the method’s accuracy. Finally, the impact of the search coil’s various parameters on dynamic and static eccentricity faults is examined. In addition, choosing the proper search coil pitch for eccentricity faults detection is discussed. ©, Engineers Australia.

A large-scale dynamically weighted directed network(DWDN)involving numerous entities and massive dynamic interaction is an essential data source in many big-data-related applications,like in a terminal interaction pattern analysis system(TIPAS).It can be represented by a high-dimensional and incomplete(HDI)tensor whose entries are mostly *** such an HDI tensor contains a wealth knowledge regarding various desired patterns like potential links in a DWDN.A latent factorization-of-tensors(LFT)model proves to be highly efficient in extracting such knowledge from an HDI tensor,which is commonly achieved via a stochastic gradient descent(SGD)***,an SGD-based LFT model suffers from slow convergence that impairs its efficiency on large-scale *** address this issue,this work proposes a proportional-integralderivative(PID)-incorporated LFT *** constructs an adjusted instance error based on the PID control principle,and then substitutes it into an SGD solver to improve the convergence *** studies on two DWDNs generated by a real TIPAS show that compared with state-of-the-art models,the proposed model achieves significant efficiency gain as well as highly competitive prediction accuracy when handling the task of missing link prediction for a given DWDN.
