Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) is known to be the best non-invasive imaging modality in providing anatomical information as white-matter fiber bundles. However, the Gaussian noise introduced into the diffusion tensor images can bring serious impacts on tensor calculation and fiber tracking. To decrease the effects of the Gaussian noise, many denoising methods have been presented. In this paper, a shearlet based denosing strategy is introduced. To evaluate the efficiency of the proposed shearlet based denoising method in accounting for the Gaussian noise introduced into the images, the peak to peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR), signal-to-mean squared error ratio (SMSE) and edge keeping index (Beta) metrics are adopted. The experiment results acquired from both the synthetic and real data indicate the good performance of our proposed filter.

In this paper examination of the template modeling process using the Active Appearance Modeling (AAM) approach for automatic detection of lung nodules is investigated. A template matching approach is formulated to compute a similarity score between the AAM templates and the input lung CT slice, where the goal is to maximize the similarity measure at different image pixels to increase nodule detection. The template matching approach is implemented using nine similarity measures. Performance validation for the robustness of the generated models is tested on three clinical databases.

The improved of texture classification accuracy by using the probability weighted combination method of three texture features extraction consist of thE0020 Gray-Level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM), Semivariogram Function and Gaussian Markov Random Fields (GMRFs). Five different textures images are used in the experiment. The classifier that use for classify the extracted features in this research is Support Vector Machines (SVMs). The experimental result shows that the average accuracy of the combination method with probability weight up to 95.71%, which is better than the simple combination method about 2%.

In traffic monitoring applications, traffic speed is an important parameter of traffic management. The method for traffic speed measurement using video based on Spatio-Temporal (ST) model and frequency domain analysis is proposed in this paper. This method is designed to be able to measure the traffic speed in every pattern of road. The novel of proposed method is unfolding the edge information on ST model and analyse them in frequency domain to determine traffic speed. The proposed method is evaluated by compare with actual speed. The traffic speed is measured accurately 97.1%.
