Software systems often encounter various errors or exceptions in practice, and thus proper error handling code is essential to ensure the reliability of software systems. Unfortunately, error handling code is often bug-prone, while sufficiently testing them is challenging as such code often cannot be triggered under normal conditions. Motivated by this, recent studies have proposed to leverage software fault injection (SFI) based fuzzing to discover potential bugs in complicated error handling code. Despite the promising results achieved, their effectiveness and efficiency are still compromised in practice due to the huge search space of error sites, inadequate fuzzing guidance, and the overhead induced by context-sensitive SFI. To achieve effective and efficient testing of error handling code, this study presents AFL-FI, which first utilizes a similarity-based method to identify suspicious error sites, and then incorporates the idea of error site coverage to guide the fuzzing process. Finally, the design of lightweight context-sensitive SFI enables AFL-FI to execute test cases efficiently. We evaluate AFL-FI on eight large-scale open-source projects, and the results show that it can outperform existing state-of-the-art fuzzing tools significantly in terms of branch code coverage. More importantly, AFL-FI has discovered 13 previously unknown bugs, and all of them have been confirmed while 12 of them have been fixed. Besides, our evaluation also demonstrates that all the key designs of AFL-F I are effective that contribute significantly to its overall performance. © 2024 IEEE.

This article is concerned with a new optimization problem named 'phase change rate maximization' for single-input-single-output linear time-invariant systems. The problem relates to two control problems, namely robust instability analysis against stable perturbations and minimum-norm strong stabilization. We define an index of the instability margin called 'robust instability radius (RIR)' as the smallest H∞-norm of a stable perturbation that stabilizes a given unstable system. This article has two main contributions. It is first shown that the problem of finding the exact RIR via the small-gain condition can be transformed into the problem of maximizing the phase change rate at the peak frequency with a phase constraint. Then, we show that the maximum is attained by a constant or a first-order all-pass function and derive conditions, under which the RIR can be exactly characterized, in terms of the phase change rate. Two practical applications are provided to illustrate the utility of our results. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Many areas of biomedical research, including precision health research, inherently involve the use of IT systems properly secured to store and analyze protected health information (PHI). Managing cybersecurity policies in ways that allow such storage and analysis of PHI on computing systems is involved, but so doing can facilitate important research. In 2005, Indiana University established the ability to analyze PHI (HIPAA alignment) as the minimal security level for its High Performance computing (HPC) systems and research storage systems. Starting in 2010, REDCap was also offered as a central service, providing capabilities for conducting surveys that collect PHI and storing those data in ways that align with HIPAA. Usage data shows that providing computational and data resources aligned with HIPAA has increased the use of advanced research cyberinfrastructure over time. We explain some of our tactics in providing secure environments for handling protected health information and offer suggestions that other cyberinfrastructure centers may find useful in setting strategies for serving medical researchers. © 2023 ACM.

High-resolution remote sensing images are used in Earth mapping and sensing. With high resolution, we can see clearer details and get more accurate information about topography, vegetation, land use, and environmental changes such as deforestation, climate change, and natural disasters. This data is important for environmental monitoring, urban planning, natural resource management, disaster mitigation, and integrated real time monitoring. However, the data resource for Indonesia are still limited to time and space, especialy for historical data. The importance of high-resolution remote sense imagery lies in its ability to provide detailed and accurate data in various fields in which can be improved by the acceleration of artificial intelligent development. SRGAN is one of the algorithm that promising in way to improve the quality of images. Here we present the improvement of Landsat Image from 2000 to 2020 for P126R62 with the integration of SRGAN algorithm to perform four times improvement of pixels availibility. The data showed that the algorithm worked properly to improve and reduced the cloud with the loss rate of 0.000156 in discriminator loss and 0.549 in generator loss showing the model fitted to be applied over remote sensing images. © 2023 IEEE.

In Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), energy efficiency used by sensor nodes is the most fundamental issue that requires special attention during the design of communication protocols. Every sensor node obtained its location information from GPS or other positioning system to send or receive data at any time. Energy wasted largely contributed by collision, idle listening, overhearing and over-emitting that occur at medium access control layer. One of the most widely used mechanism for energy saving in WSN, specifically at MAC layer is duty cycling. In addition to duty-cycle, network topology design also plays an important role in energy efficiency. In this paper, we discuss a simultaneous study on energy saving and QoS issues on WSN. Various protocols introduced nowadays to reduce energy usage. In these studies, we applied the enhanced adaptive duty cycle called Enhanced S-MAC (ESMAC) protocol and tested with several wireless network topologies such as mesh, grid and random topology in NS2. We determine quality of service (QoS) from three parameters that are Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR), Packet Loss, and Energy Consumption. The comparisons of QoS results has been made to determine the best wireless network topology. Simulation results show the mesh topology get the better results in average energy consumption, packet delivery ratio and packet loss. However, the random topology shows the best result in energy consumption for the number of packet generated. The success of this study will contribute in prolong network lifetime of WSN compare to SMAC. © 2023 IEEE.

This study proposes a shadow compensation method for aerial images based on color feature tuning. The information from shadow-free regions is used to improve the image quality of the shadowed regions. The shadow compensation of a shadowed pixel is obtained by performing statistical feature correction on channel V of HSV color space. Considering the challenging aerial images used in the experiment, the qualitative results of the shadow removal are reasonably acceptable. © 2022 IEEE.

Accurate identification of plant diseases is important for ensuring the safety of agricultural *** neural networks(CNNs)and visual transformers(VTs)can extract effective representations of images and have been widely used for the intelligent recognition of plant disease ***,CNNs have excellent local perception with poor global perception,and VTs have excellent global perception with poor local *** makes it difficult to further improve the performance of both CNNs and VTs on plant disease recognition *** this paper,we propose a local and global feature-aware dual-branch network,named LGNet,for the identification of plant *** specifically,we first design a dual-branch structure based on CNNs and VTs to extract the local and global ***,an adaptive feature fusion(AFF)module is designed to fuse the local and global features,thus driving the model to dynamically perceive the weights of different ***,we design a hierarchical mixed-scale unit-guided feature fusion(HMUFF)module to mine the key information in the features at different levels and fuse the differentiated information among them,thereby enhancing the model's multiscale perception ***,extensive experiments were conducted on the Al Challenger 2018 dataset and the self-collected corn disease(SCD)*** experimental results demonstrate that our proposed LGNet achieves state-of-the-art recognition performance on both the Al Challenger 2018 dataset and the SCD dataset,with accuracies of 88.74％and 99.08％,respectively.

Leakage of oil pipeline pose significant challenges in the area of petroleum transport and infrastructure management, with far-reaching implications encompassing economic, environmental, and public safety concerns. While machine learning has developed quite rapidly in recent years and has gained prominence in various sectors, its adoption in petroleum engineering domain remains relatively rare. This paper explores the application of machine learning, specifically Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) method, in predicting the location of oil leaks in a pipeline, given the outlet pressure of the pipe and the expected leak rate. Due to very low number of leak occasion in the real practical case, it is quite challenging to obtain enough balanced leak data to train the learning model properly. To manage that issue, we generate the data manually by simulating the leak process using Beggs-Brill pressure drop correlation in various combination of different experimental cases. The generated data incorporates outlet pressure and estimated leak rates, to serve as input features for the ANN model. We fine-tune the ANN architecture to optimize model performance and analyzes its learning capabilities. This paper underscores the potential of ANN technology in addressing the complex issue of oil pipeline leaks and contributes to the ongoing efforts to enhance pipeline safety. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper, we jointly study the real-time user association, traffic routing and x-Network Function (xNF) placement problem in an integrated Terrestrial and Satellite 6G Network (TN-SN), with the aim of maximizing the network energy efficiency and user acceptance ratio. We formulate the aforementioned problem as a Mixed Integer Linear Program (MILP), considering various capacity, power and flow conservation constraints for the integrated network, while also meeting the specific service requirements of each user. To tackle the increased complexity of the optimal solution, we also develop an efficient heuristic (named as TERA). Through extensive simulations, TERA demonstrates a notable superiority in energy efficiency compared to the current State-of-the-Art (SoA), achieving up to 85 % of the optimal with up to 87 % lower execution time even under challenging traffic load conditions.
