Tensor Extended Kalman Filter and its Application to Traffic Prediction

Traffic prediction is a very important mechanism in intelligent transportation systems for applications including routing planning and traffic control. In order to infer multifarious traffic information, one/two-relational traffic data in the vector/matrix form need to be expanded to multi-relational traffic data in an arbitrary tensor form. However, none of the existing approaches is capable of performing traffic prediction by characterizing and tracking the inherent nonlinear dynamics which are often encountered in realistic time-series analysis. Although the extended Kalman filter (EKF) has been proven to be quite promising in inferring nonlinear dynamics from time series, but the current EKF approach still suffers, unfortunately, from a serious drawback that state variables have to be represented in vector form. In fact, the characteristics of multi-relational states in practice can never been manifested accurately in practice and the performance of an EKF would be greatly restricted thereby. In this work, we introduce a new tensor extended Kalman filter (TEKF) approach to accommodate arbitrary input, output, and state variables all in arbitrary tensor forms. We also propose a new tensor-based expectation-maximization (EM) algorithm to estimate the nonlinear state-transition and observation-model mappings. The computational and memory complexities of the proposed TEKF approach are also studied in this paper. Finally, numerical experiments are conducted to evaluate the traffic prediction performance of the proposed new TEKF approach over the simulated and realworld traffic datasets in comparison with three other existing deep-learning prediction methods. © 2000-2011 IEEE.

Polysulfamides are a new class of polymers that exhibit favorable chemical and physical properties, making them a sustainable alternative to commodity polymers like polyurea. To advance the fundamental understanding of this new class of polymers, Wu et al. [Z. Wu, J. W. Wu, Q. Michaudel and A. Jayaraman, Macromolecules, 2023, 56, 5033-5049]conducted experiments and coarse-grained (CG) molecular dynamics (MD) simulations to connect the polysulfamide backbone design to the assembled structure of polysulfamides due to hydrogen bonding between sulfamides. Their CG MD simulations qualitatively reproduced experimentally observed trends in crystallinity for analogous variations in polysulfamide backbone designs. To bring chemical specificity to this generic CG model of Wu et al. and to facilitate quantitative agreement with experiments in the future, in this work, we modify this older CG model of Wu et al. using structural information from atomistic simulations. Atomistic angle and dihedral distributions involving the sulfamide functional groups are used to modify the donor and acceptor bead positions in the new CG model. Using MD simulations with this new atomistically informed CG model, we confirm that we obtained the structural trends with varying polysulfamide backbone length, bulkiness, and non-uniformity of the segments in repeat units as seen in the previous work by Wu et al. These key structural trends are as follows: (a) shorter contour lengths of segments between sulfamide groups enhance H-bonding between sulfamides, (b) increased bulkiness in the segment hinders sulfamide-sulfamide H-bonding and reduces orientational order among chains in the assembled structure, and (c) non-uniformity in the segments along the backbone does not affect orientational order in the assembled structure. In this article, under directed graphs, an adaptive consensus tracking control scheme is proposed for a class of nonlinear multiagent systems with completely unknown control coefficients. Unlike the existing results, here, each agent is allowed to have multiple unknown nonidentical control directions, and continuous communication between neighboring agents is not needed. For each agent, we design a group of novel Nussbaum functions and construct a monotonously increasing sequence in which the effects of our Nussbaum functions reinforce rather than counteract each other. With these efforts, the obstacle caused by the unknown control directions is successfully circumvented. Moreover, an event-triggering mechanism is introduced to determine the time instants for communication, which considerably reduces the communication burden. It is shown that all closed-loop signals are globally uniformly bounded and the tracking errors can converge to an arbitrarily small residual set. Simulation results illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme. © 2013 IEEE.

Reasoning complex logical queries on incomplete and massive knowledge graphs (KGs) remains a significant challenge. The prevailing method for this problem is query embedding, which embeds KG units (i.e., entities and relations) and complex queries into low-dimensional space. Recent developments in the field show that embedding queries as geometric shapes is a viable means for modeling entity set and logical relationships between them. Despite being promising, current geometric-based methods face challenges in capturing hierarchical structures of complex queries, which leaves considerable room for improvement. This paper presents POINE2, a geometric-based query embedding framework based on hyperbolic geometry to handle complex queries on knowledge graphs. POINE2 maps entities and queries as geometric shapes on a Cartesian product space of Poincaré ball spaces. To capture the hierarchical structures of complex queries, we use the Poincaré radius to represent the different levels of the hierarchy, and we use the aperture of the shape to indicate semantic differences at the same level of the hierarchy. Additionally, POINE2 offers a flexible and expressive definition of logical operations. Experimental results show that POINE2 outperforms existing salient geometric-based embedding methods and significantly improves these methods on evaluation datasets. © 2023 The Authors.

The implementation of Industry 4.0 drives digital transformation in the industry and public services. The process involves a paradigm shift in the government's business services, such as implementing electronic-based archives organized by ANRI. The archive has a vital role as recorded information and events concerning various fields. As the answer to the digital transformation shift, ANRI published regulation as a foundation in building an electronic-based archive system that involves four architecture principles of integrated, dynamic, compliance, and comprehensive architecture principles. This study uses a combination of service computing system engineering, platform engineering, microservice modeling, and OAIS reference model to design an archival service platform architecture that complies with government regulations and related standards. The model evaluation indicates good results as the coupling factor satisfies the loosely coupled condition, the cohesion factor has a relatively strong relationship, the complexity factor signifies low value, and the reusability factor fulfills the high reusable rate. © 2022 IEEE.

For accurately identifying the distribution charac-teristic of Gaussian-like noises in unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)state estimation,this paper proposes a non-parametric scheme based on curve similarity *** the framework of the pro-posed scheme,a Parzen window(kernel density estimation,KDE)method on sliding window technology is applied for roughly esti-mating the sample probability density,a precise data probability density function(PDF)model is constructed with the least square method on K-fold cross validation,and the testing result based on evaluation method is obtained based on some data characteristic analyses of curve shape,abruptness and *** com-parison simulations with classical methods and UAV flight exper-iment shows that the proposed scheme has higher recognition accuracy than classical methods for some kinds of Gaussian-like data,which provides better reference for the design of Kalman filter(KF)in complex water environment.

The event-triggered Hinfin;output feedback control for a flexible robot arm system with stochastic uncertainties and hybrid attacks is investigated in this study. Specially, Semi-Markov processes are used to simulate the stochastic uncertainties in state matrices, and the problem of hybrid attacks, such as DoS and data injection attacks, is taken into account in sensors and actuators. To ensure the mean square secure with a Hinfin;performance index, sufficient requirements of the flexible robot arm system under event-triggered scheme are derived. Moreover, the event-triggered parameters and the Hinfin;output feedback gains are jointly constructed. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed results in flexible robot arm system is verified by simulation results. © 2023 IEEE.
