Ultracompact entangled photon sources are pivotal to miniaturized quantum photonic *** der Waals(vdW)nonlinear crystals promise efficient photon-pair generation and on-chip monolithic integration with nanophotonic ***,it remains challenging to generate maximally entangled Bell states of photon pairs with high purity,generation rate,and fidelity required for practical ***,we realize a polarization-entangled photon-pair source based on spontaneous parametric down conversion in an ultrathin rhombohedral tungsten disulfide(3R-WS2)*** vdW entangled photonic source exhibits a high photon-pair purity with a coincidenceto-accidental ratio of above 800,a generation rate of 31 Hz,and two maximally polarization-entangled Bell states with fidelities exceeding 0.93 and entanglement degree over *** results stem from scalable optical nonlinearity,enhanced second-order susceptibility by electronic transitions,and a well-defined symmetry-enabled selection rule inherent in *** polarization entangled photon source can be integrated with photonic structures for generating more complex entangled states,thus paving an avenue for advanced quantum photonic systems toward computation and metrology.

Anomalous Sound Detection Using Time-Frequency Feature and Mixbatch

The sound emitted by machines under abnormal working conditions exhibits various frequency patterns. Currently, the most advanced anomalous sound detection (ASD) approach is to apply a multi-head self-attention mechanism to the Log-Mel spectrogram for automatic frequency pattern analysis. However, the Log-Mel spectrogram may filter out high-frequency components of abnormal sounds;thus the use of self-attention mechanisms on Log-Mel spectrogram seems to have certain limitations. In this paper, we construct a simple convolutional neural network to extract comprehensive frequency features from raw audio to complement spectral-temporal information fusion. The parameters of this neural network are continuously updated during the training process to extract better frequency features for downstream classification neural networks in ASD. Additionally, a method for data augmentation in the batch dimension was developed to help the classification model learn both types of comprehensive features simultaneously. The proposed method achieved an AUC of 94.13% and a pAUC of 89.09% on the DCASE 2020 Challenge Task 2 dataset. Even when using only the features proposed in this paper, an AUC of 84.62% was achieved. Testing to detect semantic bugs is essential, especially for critical systems. Coverage-guided fuzzing (CGF) and runtime assertion checking (RAC) are two well-known approaches for detecting semantic bugs. CGF aims to generate test inputs with high code coverage. However, while CGF tools can be equipped with sanitizers to detect a fixed set of semantic bugs, they can otherwise only detect bugs that lead to a crash. Thus, the first problem we address is how to help fuzzers detect previously unknown semantic bugs that do not lead to a crash. Moreover, a CGF tool may not necessarily cover all branches with valid inputs, although invalid inputs are useless for detecting semantic bugs. So, the second problem is how to guide a fuzzer to maximize coverage using only valid inputs. However, RAC monitors the expected behavior of a program dynamically and can only detect a semantic bug when a valid test input shows that the program does not satisfy its specification. Thus, the third problem is how to provide high-quality test inputs for a RAC that can trigger potential bugs. The combination of a CGF tool and RAC solves these problems and can cover branches with valid inputs and detect semantic bugs effectively. Our study uses RAC to guarantee that only valid inputs reach the program under test using the program's specified preconditions, and it also uses RAC to detect semantic bugs using specified postconditions. A prototype tool was developed for this study, named JMLKelinci+. Our results show that combining a CGF tool with RAC will lead to executing the program under test only with valid inputs and that this technique can effectively detect semantic bugs. Also, this idea improves the feedback given to a CGF tool, enabling it to cover all branches faster in programs with non-trivial preconditions.1 © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s). In many deep learning tasks, feature extraction and fusion in multivariate time series is an indispensable part of passenger flow prediction. Because there is also a certain correlation between passenger flow time series, it is very meaningful to successfully capture the time characteristics of the series and the dependencies between each series. Therefore, this study combined Residual Network (ResNet) and Attention Gated Recurrent Unit (Attention GRU) to build a ResGRU model for predicting subway passenger flow data during peak hours. This study has improved ResNet and attention GRU, then designed the ResGRU model architecture. Among them, the subway network topology is constructed by graphs, ResNet is used to capture the hidden spatial features between data, attention GRU captures the deep temporal features between data. This study not only considered passenger flow data, but also added subway network topology data, even weather and air pollution index data. Finally, three time solts of 10, 15 and 30 min were used to forecast the peak passenger flow on the public dataset. The ResGRU model was compared with the single model, the combined model and an ablation experiment. Teacher performance is an important issue for any academic institution, so these institutions try to develop methodologies and systems to evaluate the performance of its academic staff based on measurable and scientific metrics. These metrics include collecting data from students about classes and how the teacher is performing in the classroom and measuring the learning objectives from students. Major objective of this research work is to develop a web-based multi-user system for academic performance and a recommendation system that depends on the performance and skills of the teacher. The system includes multiple entry points for best factor such as the feedback unit, student attendance unit, teacher classification unit, and teacher recommendation unit, which can be strictly accessed by the administrative authority for academic teachers. The attendance module and the student feedback module are required to achieve better results in the teacher rating module and the teacher recommendation module. A reliability factor has been incorporated to achieve the accuracy of the proposed system. The performance of the system was improved due to the integration of the paperless approach and resulted in less data loss. The developed system was tested for a large university in Kurdistan region, Iraq. For data analysis an adaptive unsupervised learning method was used to categorize teachers according to their performance in the classroom. The system proved very successful in the academic evaluation and recommendation process in the university. This research proved that using student feedback data is the best factor in determining academic performance. © 2024 IEEE.

The increasing computational capabilities of IoT end devices push the deployment of application logic tasks directly on the extreme edge rather than the cloud or edge nodes. However, there are still unresolved issues on the Over-The-Air (OTA) software update operations for IoT end devices: (i) the hardware heterogeneity in IoT settings requires custom code for each different device type;(ii) the growing complexity of microcontroller code couples the development of high-level processing tasks with low-level operations;(iii) efficient methods for updating target IoT devices in a specific geographical area are absent. To address these issues, we propose an OTA firmware update framework that utilizes WebAssembly (WASM) and incorporates location-aware features. We split the application logic in WASM from the rest of the firmware written in native code, in order to create a greater separation of concerns. WASM's platform independence creates an abstraction layer for the underlying hardware, allowing the same application logic to be deployed virtually to any IoT device. We integrate a location-aware extension of the MQTT protocol in our framework to enable software updates targeting devices in specific geographical areas. Finally, our experiments demonstrate that location awareness does not add significant overhead to the system and that the performance of WASM in a microcontroller is comparable to native code and superior to Micropython. © 2025 IEEE.

Stackelberg Evolutionary Game (SEG) theory models the interacting dynamics between a rational leader and a population of evolving followers, merging classical and evolutionary game theory. Although both methods are welldeveloped individually, the potential of SEG itself has not been appropriately recognized. Thus, in this paper we propose a novel eco-evolutionary model with resource mutualism and competition and we introduce a control framework based on SEGs, to steer the eco-evolutionary dynamics of followers at will. As a case study, we consider the treatment of cancer, where tumour cells are the followers that evolve in response to changes in the tumour micro-environment (and thus on available resources) and to the medical therapy, where the physician is the leader. An interesting aspect of this approach is that the objective function can be tailored according to the goal, e.g. jointly balancing tumour size, developed resistance, and toxicity of therapy, to ensure maximum quality of life for the patient. Simulations confirm the effectiveness and the potential of the proposed approach. © 2024 IEEE.

Automatic medical image examination plays a vital part in disease screening and decision making processes. This research aims to create deep-learning (DL) assisted Mitochondrial Network (MN) segmentation from the chosen Fluorescence Microscopy Images (FMI) with better accuracy. Several parts of this arrangement encompasses the following;(i) Image collection and resizing, (ii) extraction of the MN section using a chosen scheme, (iii) comparing the segmented section against the ground-truth (GT) and computing the performance metrics, and (iv) performance evaluation and validation of the proposed technique. In this work, a comparative analysis is presented using the UNet and its variants. The experimental findings affirm that the VGG-UNet-supported scheme outperforms alternatives, yielding an overall segmentation accuracy of >97%. This underscores the efficacy of the proposed methodology in advancing the automated examination of MN for the chosen FMI database. © 2024 IEEE.

Cancer is distinguished by the presence of abnormal cellular proliferation and growth, both of which serve as signs and symptoms for this kind of illness. computer vision, deep learning, and metaheuristics optimization techniques are increasingly important for solving complex medical Artificial Intelligence (AI) problems such as cancer detection. This paper introduces a new methodology for training the Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) using the optimization algorithm known as Hunger Games search Optimization technique (HGO) and apply this method to classify the cervical cancer. The main goal of this method is to reduce the error and enhance the classification rate of cervical cancer. The outcomes show that the MLP with HGO algorithm performed better than other algorithms in terms of classification efficacy and accuracy rate. Simulation outcomes indicate that the proposed strategy performs better than previously published research in terms of effectiveness for the classification optimization methods. © 2024 IEEE.

Distributed systems and blockchain consensus protocols rely on a clock synchronization algorithm to resolve any conflicts related to the state of data or resources. Faulty and adversarial peers make it challenging to achieve clock synchronization in a peer-to-peer distributed system. Clock-synchronization protocols such as the Network Time Protocol (NTP) and the Precision Time Protocol (PTP) are effective but only in a partially or fully trusted network. They fail to synchronize clocks in the presence of misbehaving peers who try to rewind or fast-forward time or introduce deadlocks purposely. This paper introduces BFT-Metronome, a Byzantine fault-tolerant clock synchronization algorithm for peer-to-peer distributed systems. The novel BFT-Metronome algorithm combines a sensor-fusion algorithm with a statistical outlier detection algorithm to enable participating peers to determine the most likely skew based on broadcast timestamps. The algorithm is designed to withstand up to N3 − 1 misbehaving participants in a network of N total participants, and the independently calculated offset is observed to be within 10 ms of precision vs. 40-100 ms in peer-to-peer distributed systems. The BFT-Metronome clock synchronization algorithm can also be applied to blockchain consensus protocols (such as Proof-of-Stake) that rely on weakly synchronized clocks. This is shown by integrating BFT-Metronome with the Lightweight Mining Algorithm to achieve consensus-round synchronization and timeouts. Then, generalization to other protocols is argued qualitatively. It can also be applied to large distributed systems to secure against insider threats during clock synchronization. © 2024 IEEE.
