In this letter, parallel micro-LED arrays with numbers of 1×1, 1×2, 2×2 and 2×3 were fabricated and the p-electrode patterns of arrays were optimized. The results show that both the light output power (LOP) and modulation bandwidth increase with the parallel array numbers. Moreover, optimizing the p-electrode pattern can effectively facilitate current spreading, mitigate thermal crowding, and enhance the LOP. Under combined with the LOP and thermal effect, the 2 × 2 ring-electrode parallel array achieved the highest modulation bandwidth of 172 MHz and maximum LOP of 5.70 mW, which were improved by 17.28% and 13.98%, respectively. This work provides a reference to design micro-LED chip for high bandwidth. © 1980-2012 IEEE.

We demonstrate semipolar (20-21) micro-LED-based high-bandwidth WLEDs utilizing perovskite QDs and organic emitters in color-conversion films. The WLEDs exhibit a bandwidth in excess of 1 GHz and a CCT of 6141 K, making these devices suitable for visible light communication and lighting applications. © 2023 The Royal Society of Chemistry.

Artificial Intelligence techniques, such as optimization algorithms, have become essential for success in many fields. Therefore, most researchers, especially in computer and engineering sciences, focused their efforts and abilities on adapting the optimization algorithms for solving various problems. This review introduces one of the recent nature-inspired optimization algorithms, called black widow optimization (BWO). This review highlights the main procedures of BWO, its strengths and weaknesses, the growth of BWO, the variants of BWO (i.e., binary, modification, and hybridization), and the efficiency of BWO in different fields and applications (i.e., feature selection, medical, image processing, engineering, IoT, power and energy, and networks). As a result, the review seeks to assist researchers who are interested in using the BWO to address their challenges. For instance, it could help manage large pilgrim crowds, enabling smoother ritual performances and overcoming potential difficulties they encounter. Also, it suggests new possible ways of enhancing the efficiency of the basic BWO. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.

In this paper, we present our system applied in BioASQ 11b phase b. We showcase prompt engineering strategies and outline our experimental steps. Building upon the success of ChatGPT/GPT-4 in answer generation and the field of biology, we developed a system that utilizes GPT-4 to answer biomedical questions. The system leverages OpenAI’s ChatCompletions API and combines Prompt engineering methods to explore various prompts. In addition, we also attempted to incorporate GPT-4 into our system from last year, which combines a BERT-based model and BERTScore. However, the standalone GPT-4 method outperformed this approach by a large margin. Ultimately, in our submission, we adopted what we believe to be the optimal prompts and achieved the highest scores in the second batch. © 2023 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

The Internet of Drones (IoD) extends the capabilities of unmanned aerial vehicles, enabling them to participate in a connected network. In IoD infrastructure, drones communicate not only among themselves but also with users and a control center. This interconnected communication framework holds promise for various applications, from collaborative decision-making to real-time data exchange. However, the expansion of communication in IoD also introduces new challenges, particularly in terms of security, privacy and authentication. Unfortunately, the current authentication protocols are inadequate in offering robust security features against various attacks in the IoD environment. To address these security issues and limitations, we proposed a secure protocol for the IoD environment using chaotic maps and hash functions. In addition, we also employed a physically unclonable function in the development of the proposed protocol. We assess the security of the protocol through both informal and formal security analysis. The formal security analysis is conducted through a widely used random or real (RoR) model. The informal analysis shows the rigorous security features against various attacks, such as masquerading, anonymity violation, and physical cloning attacks. Moreover, we compare the performance of the devised protocol with similar existing protocols across important performance parameters, such as communication overhead, computation overhead, and security features. The devised protocol provides a 67.86% and 17.80% reduction in computation and communication overheads, respectively, as compared to related protocols. The analysis demonstrates the proposed protocol's capacity to support secure communication in the IoD environment and satisfy desirable security attributes. © 2014 IEEE.

In wireless communication networks, it is difficult to solve many NP-hard problems owing to computational complexity and high cost. Recently, quantum annealing (QA) based on quantum physics was introduced as a key enabler for solving optimization problems quickly. However, only some studies consider quantum-based approaches in wireless communications. Therefore, we investigate the performance of a QA solution to an optimization problem in wireless networks. Specifically, we aim to maximize the sum rate by jointly optimizing clustering, sub-channel assignment, and power allocation in a multi-unmanned aerial vehicle-aided wireless network. We formulate the sum rate maximization problem as a combinatorial optimization problem. Then, we divide it into two sub-problems: 1) a QA-based clustering and 2) sub-channel assignment and power allocation for a given clustering configuration. Subsequently, we obtain an optimized solution for the joint optimization problem by solving these two sub-problems. For the first sub-problem, we convert the problem into a simplified quadratic unconstrained binary optimization (QUBO) model. As for the second sub-problem, we introduce a novel QA algorithm with optimal scaling parameters to address it. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm in terms of the sum rate and running time. © 2025 IEEE.

The present article focuses on the analytical approach using fractional orders and its application in the dynamics of physical processes. Fractional order models align better with experimental data compared to non-fractional ones. This study primarily focuses on employing the new approximate analytical method to solve shallow water models with fractional orders. Numerical examples within the Caputo fractional derivative showcase the method’s application. Results for both integer and fractional orders are graphically depicted, demonstrating the fractional solutions’ closeness to actual data. Analysis of 3D and 2D fractional order graphs reveals convergence toward integer order graphs as fractional derivatives approach non-fractional ones. This method shows promise for direct application in solving targeted problems and can be easily adapted for other fractional nature problems. © 2024 College of Education, Al-Iraqia University. Brain state is dynamic in nature, and identifying the transitions between different brain states is crucial for understanding ongoing cognitive functions. Here, we opted for a transformer-based blood-oxygen-level-dependent transformer model (BolT) to investigate dynamic transitions of brain states across time. Using the given time series data, the model predicted subsequent time series. At the same time, it provided information about the contribution of each time point for the prediction with the importance weights. We extracted the time series corresponding to the top 10% and bottom 10% contribution of the importance weights. For each time series data, we constructed the connectivity matrix and calculated the degree centrality values. We compared the degree values between the top 10% and bottom 10% contribution data and found significant differences in the regions involved in the default mode network. Specifically, decreases in the degree values were observed at the highly contributed time points. Our findings indicate that the reorganization of connectome organization occurs in the default mode network during transitions in brain states. © 2024 IEEE.
