Demands for data traffic in high-speed railway (HSR) has increased drastically. The increasing entertainment needs of passengers, safety control information exchanges of trains, etc., make train-to-train (T2T) communications face the challenge of achieving high-capacity and high-quality data transmissions. In order to greatly increase the communication capacity, it is urgent to introduce millimeter wave (mmWave) technology. Faced with the problem that mmWave link is easy to be blocked, this paper leverages the existing equipment to assist relay, and proposes an effective transmission scheduling scheme to improve the robustness of T2T communication systems. First of all, we formulate a mixed integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) optimization problem the transmission scheduling in T2T communication systems where mobile relays (MRs) are all working in the full-duplex (FD) mode. Then we propose a low complexity heuristic algorithm to solve the optimization problem, which consists of three components: relay selection, transmission mode selection, and transmission scheduling. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can greatly improve the number of completed flows and system throughput. Finally, we analyze the influence of different design parameters on the system performance. The results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve more data flows and system throughput within a reasonable communication distance threshold in T2T communication with obstacles in different orbits. In this work, we employ micromagnetic modelling of a spin Hall oscillator for a direct inference and classification of binary digit inputs. The spectral characteristics of the oscillation is utilized for the classification. We observed a direct inference of binary digit inputs up to a sequence of four binary digits. Subsequently, handwritten digit image recognition is tested with the Modified National Institute of Standards and Testing (MNIST) handwritten digit database and acquired an accuracy of 88.6% with a linear classifier network.

Cryogenic tests were conducted on blue InGaN/GaN light-emitting diodes (LEDs) by immersing the device in liquid nitrogen (LN₂). To study the degradation of the LEDs, a combination of optical, electrical, and material characterizations were performed on the LN₂-soaked device. The results indicate that noticeable emission spectral shifts were observed during the LED immersion due to lattice deformation. Moreover, clustering of cracks was generated in the cross-section, and line-shaped defects appeared on the surface of the GaN LED, which was different from the defects on AlInGaP LEDs after LN₂ immersion. To track the trend of device damage, computer-assisted OpenCV-Python software was used to zoom in on nuanced variations in certain areas of the emission images. Early degradation of certain areas can be detected by computer-assisted machine vision, which has the potential to provide an early warning and protective circuits for the system consisting of the initial degraded LEDs. Reliability studies on LN₂-soaked InGaN/GaN LEDs show promise in studying the reliability issues of GaN device applications in Arctic regions and space exploration. © 2023

To understand physical properties of the interstellar medium (ISM) on various scales, we investigate it at parsec resolution on the kiloparsec scale. Here, we report on the sub-kpc scale Gas Density Histogram (GDH) of the Milky Way. The GDH is a density probability distribution function (PDF) of the gas volume density. Using this method, we are free from an identification of individual molecular clouds and their spatial structures. We use survey data of 12CO and 13CO (J=1-0) emission in the Galactic plane (I = 10◦-50◦) obtained as a part of the FOREST Unbiased Galactic plane Imaging survey with the Nobeyama 45m telescope (FUGIN). We make a GDH for every channel map of 2◦ × 2◦ area including the blank sky component, and without setting cloud boundaries. This is a different approach from previous works for molecular clouds. The GDH fits well to a single or double log-normal distribution, which we name the low-density log-normal (L-LN) and high-density log-normal (H-LN) components, respectively. The multi-log-normal components suggest that the L-LN and H-LN components originate from two different stages of structure formation in the ISM. Moreover, we find that both the volume ratios of H-LN components to total (fH) and the width of the L-LN along the gas density axis (σL) show coherent structure in the Galactic-plane longitude-velocity diagram. PET/CT devices typically use CT images for PET attenuation correction, leading to additional radiation exposure. Alternatively, in a standalone PET imaging system, attenuation and scatter correction cannot be performed due to the absence of CT images. Therefore, it is necessary to explore methods for generating pseudo-CT images from PET images. However, traditional PET-to-CT synthesis models encounter conflicts in multi-objective optimization, leading to disparities between synthetic and real images in overall structure and texture. To address this issue, we propose a staged image generation model. Firstly, we construct a dual-stage generator, which synthesizes the overall structure and texture details of images by decomposing optimization objectives and employing multiple loss functions constraints. Additionally, in each generator, we employ improved deep perceptual skip connections, which utilize cross-layer information interaction and deep perceptual selection to effectively and selectively leverage multi-level deep information and avoid interference from redundant information. Finally, we construct a context-aware local discriminator, which integrates context information and extracts local features to generate fine local details of images and reasonably maintain the overall coherence of the images. Experimental results demonstrate that our approach outperforms other methods, with SSIM, PSNR, and FID metrics reaching 0.8993, 29.6108, and 29.7489, respectively, achieving the state-of-the-art. Furthermore, we conduct visual experiments on the synthesized pseudo-CT images in terms of image structure and texture. The results indicate that the pseudo-CT images synthesized in this study are more similar to real CT images, providing accurate structure information for clinical disease analysis and lesion localization. © 2024 Elsevier Ltd

Crop models are widely used as decision support tools in agriculture and natural resource management. However, the current practices in crop modeling and evaluation vary significantly, making it challenging to compare uncertainties across different models and studies. This study aims to quantify and compare the uncertainties associated with four different crop modeling practices using a standardized evaluation framework. The four modeling practices are: 1) using a single model, considering only model bias for uncertainty;2) using a single model, accounting for both model bias and parameter uncertainty;3) employing a multi-model ensemble to account for model bias, parameter uncertainty, and structural uncertainties;and 4) using a multi-model ensemble to consider uncertainties induced by model bias, parameters, structures, and inputs. We developed a framework that integrates Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) and Bayesian Model Averaging (BMA) to consistently quantify prediction uncertainty across these practices. The framework was applied to an Asian rice dataset. The results revealed that common model evaluation approach (Practice 1) tends to underestimate the uncertainty of model predictions. Relying on a single process-based model presents a substantial risk in critical decision-making situations. In contrast, the BMA ensemble predictor (e-BMA) demonstrated higher reliability, making it a preferable choice for future decision support. Our Bayesian framework provides a more robust and adaptable approach for project-specific decision-making, with promising applications in digital agriculture. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

Most recent works in the field of grammatical error correction (GEC) rely on neural machine translation-based models. Although these models boast impressive performance, they require a massive amount of data to properly train. Furthermore, NMT-based systems treat GEC purely as a translation task and overlook the editing aspect of it. In this work we propose a heterogeneous approach to Chinese GEC, composed of a NMT-based model, a sequence editing model, and a spell checker. Our methodology not only achieves a new state-of-the-art performance for Chinese GEC, but also does so without relying on data augmentation or GEC-specific architecture changes. We further experiment with all possible configurations of our system with respect to model composition order and number of rounds of correction. A detailed analysis of each model and their contributions to the correction process is performed by adapting the ERRANT scorer to be able to score Chinese sentences. © 2020 COLING 2020 - 28th International Conference on Computational Linguistics, Proceedings of the Conference. The search for two-dimensional multiferroic materials is an exciting yet challenging endeavor. Recently, Song et al. reported the exciting discovery of type-II multiferroic order in an antiferromagnetic (AFM) NiI2 single layer, and concluded the ferroelectric (FE) polarization induced by a helical magnetic order1. Their finding was presented from all-optical experimental evidence, based on the methods of second harmonic generation (SHG) and linear dichroism (LD). However, the all-optical characterizations alone cannot serve as unanimous evidence of the "FE" existence, particularly in conjunction with magnetic orders in a single-layer multiferroic. A main argument is that their observed SHG and LD signals may just be manifested from the magnetic-order induced breaking of spatial-inversion or time-reversal symmetry instead of FE order, and thus cannot endorse the finding of a single-layer multiferroic. Accurate measurements of magnetic and electric orders are very essential to make a reliable judgement of a multiferroic.
